Kaye1229, I've been on the liquid diet since the 22nd, of April. Yesterday was my pre-op and my surgery is set for the 6th. I don't find the Medifast all that bad...aside from the orange and banana flavors, try blending them with ice and skim it works for me.

Hey all, Went for my pre-op testing yesterday after being on the liquid diet for almost a week, everything went well and even better then that when asked how I felt and I replied HUNGRY!!! I was told I can have one "Lean & Green" meal a day till surgery....Woo Hoo!!! What a pleasure it was to have solids again. So one more week of this diet and then surgery on May 6th, wish me luck:thumbup:

Sydney, I'm getting banded on May 6th, and I'm also anxious about life after the band. I keep playing scenes over in my head like the first BBQ, the first party, and going out to eat...wondering if I will ever be satisfied with food again. Has anybody else had this problem? If so what did you do to cope with it?

Good morning, Well it's the start of day 3 on my pre-op liquid diet and I just stepped of the scale and I'm down 10 pounds. Yesterday was kind of rough though I guess you can say I'm a late night eater so the hunger is worse for me in the evening. I was able to curb it by taking two of my shakes and mixing them with a ton of ice in a blender, I also found out that I'm allowed to eat sugar free Jello. You haven't seen excitement till you've seen a fat man on a liquid diet told he could have Jello.

Well day one of the liquid diet has come and gone and it really wasn't that bad...although I must admit later in the evening while watching TV any time a commercial with food came on I started to drool. My day started off at 5am with a Medi-fast shake for breakfast(banana) followed by a coffee with equal and skim, lunch around 11:30am consisted of another shake(strawberry cream)followed by no sugar added drink mix. Around 3pm another shake(dutch chocolate), dinner was around 6pm and I had yet another shake(mocha)with some chicken broth on the side. Ending my night with a final shake(orange cream)around 8pm. The shakes are not as bad as they sound...a tad bit gritty towards the end but tolerable. My doctor said to have between 5 and 7 of them a day 5 if using skim 7 if using water. I also allowed coffe, tea, no sugar added drink mix, broth, and diet soda although i'm keeping away from the soda. Today is day two and I've already had my shake(french vanilla) and sipping on my coffee....wish me luck...lol My surgery date is May 6

Hello all, Where do I start...well I started my 6 month weigh in courtesy of GHI almost a year ago, got through it and all the tests and submitted for insurance approval in Nov. DENIED a 24hr hospital stay. Resubmitted and denied again, now it's the holidays and everything comes to a halt. Submitted again in Feb. for a 23hr hospital stay and was denied the first time but thankfully was approved the second time around. Just got my surgery date yesterday...May 6th. Tomorrow is the start of the two week liquid diet due to a fatty liver 5-7 shakes a day depending on if I mix them with skim or water...any tips?
