  1. I haven't had any sort of bowel movement since Thursday morning. I kind of miss it! Is that weird? Down 11 pounds total. 89 to goal. 11% done! I wish I had a faster download speed... haha. Geek alert. I'm at work this morning, but I think I'm going to have to leave early. I don't feel well at all...my jeans are still too tight over my swollen stomach, even though they fit perfectly 11 pounds ago. I just want to wear sweats to work :tongue2:
  2. Liquids are going...eh. I'm not going to lie, my "lower" stomach feels hungry. It rumbles at me. I didn't get enough liquids in the first three days because I just couldn't, but it's getting easier to sip sip sip. My urine was dark, but I'm trying to fix that. So, my advice to you is to continually take tiny sips of your water/juice/etc.

How long do you have to be on liquids? I'm on clear for one more day, thin liquids for 5 days after than, then full liquids for 10 days after that before I can move on to mushies.

  3. Hey good luck tomorrow! I read that you're having your band put in on Tuesday. It's going to be crazy at first, you'll feel pain, but then it will go away slowly. I'm on Day 4 and the pain is definitely minimal, but still kind of annoying. Anyways I just wanted to wish you best of luck and a speedy recovery!

  4. Hey Ya-Ya! How are you feeling? Day 4 is here... down 9 pounds total. I gained some weight on Thanksgiving and didn't weigh myself before surgery, so I'm not quite sure how much was from surgery and how much was from pre-op. I estimate I was about 246 going into surgery, and I was at 240.5 this morning. Yay!!! How are you feeling? I still have port pain and gas pain in my left/right shoulders.

  5. Day 4 is here... and still some pain by the port and gas pain in left and right shoulders. I feel hungry, but I'm going to get some popsicles to try and combat that. This morning when brushing my teeth I forgot and swallowed a bit more water than I wanted to, and it hurt for a second but after that I was fine. I had some low-sodium beef broth last night which I added onions to to give it some more flavor, then I removed the onions before drinking (I gave them to my roommate to use in a recipe). Now I'm sipping on the rest of it... I feel really hungry, but it seems I can't sip fast enough to get rid of it.
  6. Got my band on Friday! Got to the hospital about 7:00, was in sugery by 9:30, and out of recovery at 12:30 or so. I slept in about hour long naps with a quick walk in between. Ice chips were amazing the first day, and the chicken broth today was extra good. My pain is mostly near the port, but also some gas pain in my chest. It took about six hours to drive halfway home, when it should have taken only four so I'm a bit wiped out. We are stopping for the night in 45 minutes where I can walk around and recline in a nice chair instead of the car (though I am fortunate that my dad's car has heated seats). Anyways I'll keep checking back in when I can! I'll also post pictures of my port and band (they did a barium swallow to verify placement).
  7. I'm going in this Friday, 11-27! So very, very excited. My dad and I are going to wake up at 2:30AM and drive down from the LA area to Mexicali... I hope to meet some other people at the hospital, but I don't know if anyone else is having surgery that day. It would be nice to have a buddy!

    November Knockouts DATA - update

Aw I posted in the group but it seems that I got looked over. Here is mine, sans surgery weight, because I haven't had mine yet (Nov. 27!!!) LBT NAME jenibeni Height 5'3" Surgery Date 11-27-09 Starting Weight (preop diet) 249 Surgery Weight ??? (shooting for 235) Current Weight 240
  9. You're welcome! Just think... feel bad for 4 more days, and then get your band and all that hunger will be over. 4 days is definitely worth it :bored:
  10. Soexcited, that might just be it. Less calories, a bad time of month, changing weather... all could add up to a nasty feeling overall. Stick to your diet as best as you can and take a nap if you can fit one in! Or go for a brisk walk. Both will give you energy, and exercise sometimes helps with cramps.
  11. Thumbs up to Odjii! Counselor, I'm sorry to hear you're in so much pain :bored: Hopefully it gets better as the day goes on?
  12. Would you like to meet up before your surgery? Mine is in one week (!!!) and I figure in another week before I can be a bit normal... but that's right before your surgery, and maybe we can talk about any questions you might have.
  13. Hey Tina, I know this is a little late, but I'm in San Jose and getting banded next week! I don't know of any support groups in the area but I'd like to go to one.

post your before & during/after pictures

You really do look amazing! I also can't wait to wear high heels... I have some really cute shoes but my feet just can't stand in them for long because of my weight. Thanks for inspiring me more

A2bachick, that is really awesome! I love all the clothes behind you, and the shirt is really cute. Did you bring that to wear or did they let you use it? Did you get to keep it? That would be a fun thing!

    Surgery Tomorrow morning!

Hey Odjii, still thinking about you! Hopefully you're post-op, resting, and healing right now!
  18. Best of luck to you, Vickster! I'm going to be driving 10 hours home from my doctor... is that going to be completely unmanageable? I'll have a pillow and my dad's car has heated seats, and he doesn't mind stopping for me to use the restroom or walk around.

    Surgery Tomorrow morning!

Woohoo! go Odjii! November Knockouts unite  I'm praying for you and cheering you on! Let us know when you get out and feel better.
  21. Hey everybody, just checking in! How's everyone's pre-op diets going? How about those of you post-op, feeling great?
  22. Best of luck fellow November Knockout!
  23. I'm having mine done the day after Thanksgiving, 11-27-09! I'm soooo excited. I entered my information on the group. I'm not even afraid of what the surgery might bring, because my whole family had the roux-en-y gastric bypass (except me I'm gonna be a bandster!). I think the only thing I'm really worried about is eating in public, and the "bandster hell" weeks 4-6 before I can get my fill.
  24. I've been trying to get some exercise in, but it's no guarantees sadly. I ate what I wanted to last weekend, for my "last meal" type stuff. Now it's on to protein shakes and chicken, haha.

My store didn't have Greek yogurt, but I got the low fat one and it tasted just fine to me. I'll look into getting Greek post-op though!

  25. Hey Donna! Yes, I'm very excited. 11 days is so soon! I began my high protein, low fat diet today. So far I'm one protein shake, a LF yogurt, and 1/3rd of a protein bar in. I'm going to the grocery store during lunch to pick up a protein bar stock to keep at work, as well as some more yogurts. How did your pre-op diet go?
