I think about how I'd feel as an adult being physically slapped or spanked by my boss or husband when I did something that pissed them off and realized it's nothing but humiliation, which never works when trying to teach someone a lesson. Kids feel humility the same way we do, so I vote no.

Brittwoman, I'm beginning consultations and weighing Band vs. Gastric Sleeve vs. Mini Bypass. I've spend a lot of time talking to surgeons, patients, members here, and I finally have an understanding of the differences between the 3 surgeries. Seems US surgeons prefer the mini bypass, while Mexican surgeons seemed to push just the sleeve. Could you elaborate more? Why would you go the full route of mini bypass instead of just sticking with the sleeve? (This is NOT sarcasm, I really want to know to help me with my decisions.) The way I understand it is that the "sleeve" portion of the surgery is where they remove 80% of your stomach to make the small sleeve/pouch, and the 2nd part is the mini bypass to eliminate food quickly. Is this basically correct? Thank you, seriously.

I didn't vote because I like thin men, but perfection doesn't matter and there wasn't an option. I find lots of beefy guys very sexy (Kevin James, yum!) but I never dated any and avoided them at all costs, but only because of my own personal hell with food. The last thing I need is another eating partner, though what fun that would be! I see too many large couples that get complacent in their obese relationships. I knew eating would always be an issue and that I'd need someone to support and help me instead of joining me.

Yeah, I know I don't have to read everything I see, but I'm really sick of people that register here to hype up their surgeon or the facility they had surgery in or the country they had surgery in - basicically, any posts that try to "sell" new people on where to get banded & who should do the surgery. Some claim they aren't patient coordinators, but it's obvious a lot of people here receive benefit, one way or another, from sending people to their surgeon or facility. I'm really sick of people that act like they're here to give support but are really here to earn commission by luring naive new members into their webs.

This is sickening & frightening. Just letting on that it's something to consider puts ideas into desperate minds. Ports aren't there to poke as you please; the object is to get as few fills as possible by a qualified practitioner to avoid potential damage to the port. Filling & unfilling on a whim goes against all the basics of Band care. Any "QUALIFIED" practitioner in the United States would have their license revoked for allowing patients to practice on their own bodies. Hotel rooms and bathrooms aren’t the place for fills; people have fainted during fills - then what? Is there a qualified assistant around in the event of an emergency? I doubt it.

I can't imagine anywhere in the US being affordable considering you'd have the surgeon fee, facility fee, anesthesia fee. I don't agree with Mexico, particularly TJ, but in an emergency (in the event of slippage or erosion) some Mexican doctors could probably do it for a few grand. You can pretty much barter beg & steal in Mexico for anything including surgery.

Lots of people have regrets about Mexico if you keep reading threads & posts here. You can't listen to everything you read without doing a lot of extensive research both here and outside of this message board.

When you get banded in Mexico it's not a 1-time thing. Make sure you have tons of emergency money saved up for fills & aftercare. You may get overfilled & have to rush back there, or your band might slip or erode, or you might get an infection, or, or, or...

If money were no object, I'd have my own TV show where I lay in bed eating bonbons & sipping cosmopolitans giving out fabulous prizes to the most clever/unique/interesting/funny people off the street. Rants & Raves is a healthy alternative to eating out of anger, plus I find more valuable info in WordWars here than in mumbojumbo posts from the sameOle know-it-alls who think they invented the band. Some people say whatever they want while others are shot down. Negative band-related topics are too unfrequent but I find lots of secrets revealed in RnR that aid me in making my final decisions. Tomorrow is my big consult so I've been absorbing info like water from this message board but find it increasingly more difficult to locate negative information about the Band here. This seems more like a Positive People Posting Place. Maybe do Internet searches for more coverage on infections?

I have read hundreds of posts here and read that port infections are signs of erosion. I don't have a band so don't shoot the messenger but so some searches about port infections before getting a new port.

Oh gosh, this made me laugh really hard. I'm not laughing at your problem but because I think so many women can relate to at least "part" of your problem. An old comedienne said, "You gotta give them head or some other bitch will!" I personally would never stay in a relationship where "he" didn't please me orally on a regular basis but my guy isn't perfect in other areas. I think most people will tell you to leave him but it's a lonely world out there so I can see both sides. Ask yourself a simple question; can you see yourself in the exact same spot in 5 years? If you can accept it then stay around otherwise run for the hills. Your problems are more than just physical because you don't even communicate. You don't seem to care about his hunting so why should he care about your Band? Maybe show his hobbies some interest to see if he'll come around. Meanwhile, shave your cooter and tell him to GET BUSY!

I can't understand why smokers think it's okay to force what's killing them on the rest of the world. Yes, it is that addicting to them the way food is to us so I see why they can't stop. But imagine if we shoved plates of steamy pasta in front of a smoker who wasn't hungry, or sat down in a bar with smelly hair dye soaking in, or whip out our nail products and do a full set while people are eating as they choke over our fumes? I understand why smokers have to smoke just not why they want us to die along with them. When I was a smoker I could never do that to others so I didn't even smoke in my own house. Smoking indoors causes disgusting yellow walls and dank horrible permanent damage to furniture, carpets and drapes. How can that be okay for anyone, including smokers, to want to be surrounded by?

There are men that like skinny gals and men called "chubby chasers" that like only fat ones. The DJs on a rock station were admitting they've had the best sex ever with chubby girls but only in secret since they were embarassed to be seen in public with a fat girl. They believe big girls are better in bed than skinny women due to our "desperation". Avoid all these assholes & you'll eventually meet a guy who'll chase you around naked no matter how much you weigh and love every minute of it.

I support anything that prevents those threads from the threat of being locked. I only started participating now that my consultation is nearing and think it's more childish to shut down a post that's under the RnR section than any of the mud being slung. May we know the other board address you belong to?
