I said in my first post I was looking into getting the band. Thanks for the link. It is much appreciated. I also have been reading everything on here related to the band for hours every night for the last few days. Brooklynn

It was certainly meant to be a debate and not ugly. I have deleted it. Unfortunately with it having been quote it is to litle avail. My apologies.

As someone who is new and doesn't understand what "infecting threads" or "going off topic" means, wouldn't the kind thing have been for someone to PM me that this is not appropriate instead of attacking me. Yes, I am my Mom's daughter, but I am not my Mom. I don't even have a band yet. I may have intervened in the wrong place because of the fact that I run a forum that is about one subject and that is horseracing. There is no such thing as going "off topic". People that are kind take the time to explain this shouldn't be done. They just don't jump on you immediately and say you "infected a thread". It seems that is the kind of behavior that causes more problems then my posting wrong on a thread. I have indeed gone back and deleted the offending thread or off topic thread, but I feel this could have been handled differently. Thanks for your time.

I guess I've just realized this is no place for me. I know all obese people aren't cruel but I've met my fair share of them on here. It's not very encouraging. I don't agree with the Tired Old Man...none of his posts. It is nothing but dribble and one-sided opinions and God help anyone that doesn't agree. Is this what obesity does to you people. If so perhaps you need to look at another reason for saying people treat obese people differently...maybe it isn't how you look but how you act. I didn't appreciate my mom being brought into this conversation by Susan. Her business is her business and yes it did hit a sour note I'm sorry to say and it was totally uncalled for. I wish you the best of luck. You seem like one of the nicer ones here. Best of luck to you.

I'm going back to my horseracing forum where the subject is horses and nothing else. I don't have to deal with issues not related to horse racing. I don't need the drama here, and I don't intend to start a thread with anything in it, but thanks so much for your advice. I have read so much about obese people feeling they are picked on. I wonder why...with the attitututes I've seen on here you are not picked on for being obese. You are some of the meanest people I've ever encountered, and I'm not sure it has a thing to do with being obese. I don't feel sorry for any of you if you are treated badly. You surely have treated me badly, so why would I look to any of you for help. Fat must mean you are also a miserable person from what I've seen. I won't be polluted by it.

The thread says ranting and raving. I simply let my feelings be known. There sure are a lot of people attracted to this part of the forum if they don't enjoy drama...point made. My post was not self-serving in any way, but merely questioning the choice of subject matter on here, and that is politics and religion. They are topics that should never be involved in a forum because they cause nothing but problems. My apologies for letting my feelings be known. I think I now realize how my mom felt on here. Women can be cruel for sure and the pack theory is ever so correct. This kind of stuff being allowed on a forum (rants and raves) is disgusting to say the least. It is obvious there is little to be learned about lap banding on here and it is all about creating drama and ill will. Back to my own forum where things are running smoothly and these categories are not allowed. good luck to you all.

I simply am questioning a thread designated to fighting, ranting, and raving. If you don't mind I would appreciate you keeping my mom out of this. This was my statement and my statement alone. I simply want to know why this portion of a lap banding forum exists and for what reason. It is pretty apparent it is not for the reason intended. Sorry if you were offended, but you did make your way to this thread didn't you Susan? I'm merely questioning why this portion of the forum exists if the subject here is lap banding? I simply want an answer. It encourages people to come here to fight, rant and rave. It seems strange to me that any forum would encourage that, and then protest so loudly when it happens.

They now have little bags of cheetos in snack size bags with 100 calories. They are awesome. My mom gets hers at Walmart. They are called 100 calorie mini-bites and are made by Frito-Lay. I eat them myself and can't tell the difference.

I too hope Jannel wins. Those guys really are playing those two girls...Will is playing Jannel and Boogie is playing Erika and they are laughing all the time. I hope the girls see through them and boot those guys off of there. I hope one of the girls win. I sure don't want to see Will or Boogie win...they are both deceitful. Happy Watching.

I think you said it well. My mom tells me Dawg has never, ever been negative about anything on this board and always seemed impartial (to whatever extent he could manage). He has as much right here as someone who is here to learn about lap banding. I don't have the band yet, but I'm here!! By the way my mom, Dody, wanted me to tell you hi and wishes you luck in your journey. Everyone should have someone representing them on the board for support if they can't be here for whatever reason...and yes most are suspended, that is known fact. There is no damage being done by being support for those that are banned. They made mistakes. They are human. Dawg did nothing. He has the right to be here like everyone else on this forum whether banded, unbanded, or looking at the band. It is after all a support forum. I am here to support my Mom's weight loss journey and keep her informed; Mr. 3 Loves is doing the same for his wife; why on earth should Dawg's experience be any different. The people banned still need the help provided from the forum however they can get it. They paid the ultimate price, so please be kind to those at least representing them or continuing their own journeys with or without the band. We are all God's children. Thanks for you time, Brooklynn

This really doesn't seem like this reply or question should be on this particular part of the forum, but may I share with you my mom's journey with the band. She was 64 years old getting it in July of this year. She had open heart surgery 5 years ago; sleep apnea; severe rheumatoid arthritis; and other health problems. One week before banding she had knee surgery. She is a new person since getting banded. She has lost 30 lbs. and is feeling younger. Her arthritis is much better and she has more energy. She had zero complications, although I truly was expecting some. She had no port pain except for a few days after surgery, and never any gas pains at all. She has amazed me, and that is why I am looking into getting the band myself. She has set the bar high for me. I will want to go to Vandy and have the procedure done by her dr. because he has done such a wonderful job with my mom. Please go through with your surgery. I bet you will be one happy camper when it is over with. I'm enjoying this journey with my mom, and inheriting some great clothes in the process (my mom get'sall her clothes from QVC and they are awesome). I'm a bit ashamed to admit that she is passing down bigger sizes to me. It has definitely made me reflect on the fact that I need to make some major changes in my life also, and that the band just be the answer I'm looking for. I hope to see you posting in a Happier forum about your banding. For now best of luck to you. Brooklynn

I didn't see anything unusual....

Do you have firewalls. This is surefire protection that this won't happen to you. One of the best is Zone Alarm. It can be downloaded on line.,I believe you get 30 days free or bought at Staples or Best Buy. I wouldn't be without it. I never saw this thread on my computer at all.

I wish you all the best with your lives and your lap band journeys. Keep on posting happy things. It makes my heart sing.

I didn't mean to dredge up old memories for sure but I just don't fight with people. There are much more civil ways to handle things. No fighting here, but perhaps I should have phrased it differently. Yoda and I are cool....just a slight misunderstanding when I said NoName should have also been banned and it was misunderstood as meaning YODA...oh well it has been resolved. All is right in my world once again.
-
NoName is a good friend of DeLarlas. That was obvious to me in reading all the posts last night. Why she is still allowed on here to throw more cheap shots I don't know. As for Yoda..just someone who wants to keep things going....happy about the banning...and wants everyone to know it. I am going to still continue to share with my mom everything that will help her in her banding experience. I don't take sides and I never will. As I said last night...please don't shoot the messenger.
-
I don't fight with ANYONE. I'm a lover not a fighter. You would wait a very long time for me to pick a fight with anyone over anything. I would save that popcorn if I were you. I've said all I'm going to say.

I made it clear last night when I first posted (if you take the time to read it) that I am Dody's daughter. I was very clear on that fact, and that I was keeping my mom well informed about everything going on here. Dawg is on here keeping his wife informed, Mr. 3 Loves is on here keeping his wife informed, and I am on here to keep my Mom informed. No one is questioning they were in the wrong...but please just drop it. Everyone involved still needs the support the forum gives, no matter how they get the info. Is there anything else I can do to help you?
-
My mom has the band and she had high blood pressure, sleep apnea, rheumatoid arthritis and several other problems. I'm not sure with the medications on the market for cholesterol etc. if triglycerides qualifies, but I don't have a band yet and I'm not really sure. good luck
-
She was part of the whole DeLarla thing...don't kid yourself. I went through every thread and don't have a clue why she wasn't banned also. We understand you are happy everyone was banned....OK we understand. Point taken. Now please move on.
-
Why weren't you banned. You appeared in many of the threads that I went through. That was a cruel remark to Dawg that you made...you need to apologize for being a jerk. If this was my board you would be suspended.

Poll - Heavy Handed Moderators

As someone who builds computers I can tell you that IP # are easily changed. If you have a local provider such as AOL or a Walmart disk simply put a new one in and Bingo you have a new IP. If you have cable (and I refuse to give the info out) anyone with computer knowledge knows how to release and seek a new IP #. I'm just telling you all this because IP # banning is no more effective than anything else. An IP can also be masked very easily. Please just take this as good advice from someone who builds computers for a hobby. It is very easy to get a new IP # if one desires. I sincerely feel that a forum that specifically states rants and raves should not exist on here if it is not intended for that purpose. Maybe it should be removed completely....just what purpose does it serve when people rant and rave and get banned? It is very misleading and lets a person think they are free to speak their mind or argue without getting banned. I also feel strongly the subject needs to be dropped. Four people are gone and if one is restored they all need to be, with the exception of the person that brought the conflict to the board. I find it sad that other's followed suit and fought, including my mom, but what's done is done. I think a 30 day suspension would have been much more in order with the exception of one person....she who caused the problem to start with. The rest were all in the wrong for going along with it, but still it all began with HER, and HER happened to be a friend of my Mom's...so what can I say? Speaking as someone who moderates a board, a moderator must first of all be completely impartial to everyone...no favoritism...never anything underhanded or they would be gone. I strive to be fair to everyone and if I have to suspend anyone for being out of line I give them 30 days to cool their jets, unless they are a habitual troublemaker and then they are gone for good. Just my tactics, but they seem to work. There are times it seems the crime does not merit the punishment and this is one of those times, and I strongly question whether the banning didn't take some heat off one of the moderators who appeared to be involved in something not quite Kosher. Thanks for your time...... Now please all get on with your lives and your band talk. -
I have spent the better part of 3 hours reading just about every post on here. I am Dody's daughter, and I plan on keeping up with the lap banding forum for her, as I'm thinking about the band myself. When my mom told me today she was banned my first response was to laugh...my mom banned from a forum. Then I realized there was lots more to this than I realized. It appears that Fitter (Lisa) came back to the board and that was the beginning of the end. Everyone took sides (I think they picked their blue or red bandanas as most gang members do) and picked their elected sides. I see where everyone was wrong at times and no one was in the right all the time. I wish for one my mom haden't got involved, because she is definitely not the person that she came across as on here. I know her and Photonut have not gotten along for a long time, and I can see where my Mom also was aggravated on here by Photonut. Everything unfortunately works both ways. All parties were involved. Funnie I don't find it strange that you are sticking up for your friend, but I'm sticking up for my Mom and her best friend 3 Loves. I see where 3 Loves hubby has taken up the posting for her and I'm glad to see that. Everyone needs to benefit from this forum and not argue and bicker. No one person should be allowed back. If one comes back, they all should. There are definitely no innocents here. You sugar coat Photonut Funnie, but then again she is your friend. She has her husband to keep her notified of all that goes on here too, and I don't see him involved in any of the bickering. So far everyone banned has a member on here looking out for them, and that's a good thing, as long as it stays cool. It really is too bad it came to this, because I know my Mom loved the forum. I also know she is very loyal to her friends, as most of you are to yours. I will continue to chart her weight loss for her and post in her place. I imagine this is legal as legal can be considering there are other family of banned members on here. This situation got badly out of hand, but after reading all night I can understand the steps that were taken. It seems to me there were a few others that contributed quite a bit to this situation by taking sides, but that's life. I will always continue to be the best friend my mother ever had, and I know she keeps in touch with Michelle (3 Loves) and always will. Michelle has a heart of gold, but she was pushed to her limit also. It's sad this came to pass. I don't think the ban should be permanent. I truly believe everyone should have been given a cooling off period and then allowed back on for a second chance. We are dealing with adults here not kids. This became a "pack" thing, and I myself find that rather disturbing for a group of adults to be involved in. This forum is about lap banding and the topic should remain about lap banding. There is a rant and rave forum and because of that I think people thought that is exactly what they were allowed to do. It did get pretty ugly there for sure, but not sure banning solves any problems. Maybe the moderators needed to take more time to talk one on one with people, or perhaps Alex did. I hope he reconsiders the banning of the people involved until such time as any trouble starts up again. For now I am taking on the duty of keeping my Mom informed of everything related to lap banding and nothing related to rants and raves. If you miss her I will tell her...if you don't I won't tell her. She spoke her mind and got banned for it. Everyone spoke their mind and like I said no one was innocent in this. Now it's time to turn in your bandanas and get back to posting about the lap band. I have a lot I personally want to learn about this before I go ahead with it. I know my mom has done wonderfully and is setting a great example for me with her progress. Please don't take everyone at face value. People seem to think they can fight on the internet because they are "invisible". Please always remember there is a real person behind that keyboard that can be hurt. This goes for everyone involved. I think everyone has a family member here with the exception of "Fitter" and although I know my mom cares about her and worries about her, I don't think she will be posting anymore anyway because she has a new job. Life goes on people, so lets get on with the subject of lap banding. It was nice meeting you all. Live each day as if it is your last, and treat others as you would like to be treated. I lost my dad at 49 in an accident, a boyfriend a yr. later in a car accident in which I was severely injured, and almost lost my mom to open heart surgery 5 years ago, so I know what it's like to grow up fast. I'm relieved after seeing my mom so despondent for the last week to finally know what has been going on, and relieved it is over with. I truly worried about her health and none of this was good for anyone. I ask that you don't shoot the messenger!! Good luck to you all on your weight loss journey.
