    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

I did regain some energy when I moved to full liquids on day 3-4 and it got even better again when I got to bring mushies in a few days after that. First day back to work was a doozie, I began napping as soon as I sat on the train!

Confused about the band vs sleeve

Just a thought you might sit in on a support group session for the band / sleeve and get some perspective that way.

Confused about the band vs sleeve

Ultimately you have to make the choice based on what it the best for you and your lifestyle. The band has a lot of aftercare so take into account the costs and time associated with fills. On the other hand the band can be completely reversed and can often be done as out patient surgery. It's hard to say which is the right option but I do think you'll find a certain sense of peace with the right decision once you do make it. Good luck and keep coming back and asking questions as you get further on with the process of choosing. You'll find a lot of support here.

    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

Oh that sounds delicious! Enjoy the tub and if you are too anxious to sleep just hang out in the nice warm water being mellow. Sending big hugs and happy thoughts. I was in the exact same situation. Be honest with the anesthesiologist when you meet him or her. I was worried I would seem like a chicken but the Dr. ended up taking a lot of extra time explaining the process step by step and it really put my mind at ease. Good luck!

    Did you name your band?

Hysterical! I love that nickname. Ok as soon as I read this I flashed on the episode when they are working at the candy factory and can't keep up so they stuff the chocolates into their faces. OMG I am laughing so hard my incisions are killing me.
  6. You might want to ask the hospital what they are charging you for? I've heard that it's very possible for hospitals to tack on some things you might not have used. Agreed! I'm four days out now and there are times when the trapped gas is brutal. But I don't think it would have changed my decision.
  7. Hi, I was banded Wednesday morning and woke up today to a hungry, gurgling tummy. I'm still sipping on 1 oz. of liquid every 20 minutes and am having protein powder in skim milk right now, hoping the protein will decrease the hunger. It is normal / typical to feel so hungry at this point? I'm feeling queasy from it. That was always common for me, getting that icky feeling from being overly hungry. thanks for any advice, Jennifer

2 Days out, can I be hungry already?

The RN at my surgeon's office was a riot when we spoke, she pointed out hunger was good since it meant swelling was going down. I agree this is good, but man... hungry sucks.

2 Days out, can I be hungry already?

Thanks guys. My husband heard my tummy rumbling - yep it got that loud - and pestered me until I called the surgeon's office. It's normal, and they consider it a good sign, if you begin to get back feelings of hunger. They said to up the Protein in skim milk and I can have soft / mushie food tomorrow. DH went and got some applesauce and mashed potato mix. I feel better knowing this is normal.
  10. Hold onto it for when you can eat mushie food - it's good to mix into oatmeal, etc.

    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

Hey are you allowed to choose your own protein mix? If so I highly recommend Syntrax Nectars, very tasty. I have the lemon iced tea, roadside lemonade (so tart and tangy), fuzzy navel and chocolate truffle. Mixes easily in water, high protein & low carb. I am back home and gassy, but doing ok. I've written my whole band day story on my blog, if anyone is interested. Thanks for all the support everyone! :sifone:

    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

The hospital / doctor moved my appointment up to 9:10am. We have to be at the hospital by 7:10am. I'm excited in a nervous-ish sort of way. Have a great day everyone, I'll update on Thursday.

    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

I am right there with you! My surgery is at 3pm on the 3rd and we don't have to be at the hospital until 1pm. I'm considering sleeping in as a way to cope, too. Good luck tomorrow!

    The 1st month????

That's is a similar schedule to my surgeon's office and I get banded Wednesday afternoon. How have the first few days been Melissa?
  19. Hi, I'm still pre-op so I'm not answering from experience, but I imagine once you reach goal you adjust your calorie intake up slightly so that you remain at a stable weight.
  20. chinchilla mom

please tell me what you consumed on preop liquid diet?

I am in the thick of pre-op diet now. I'm on 2-3 Protein shakes a day plus one meal of lean meat and veggies. I've actually been having a big salad (some variation of 2 cups romaine lettuce, sliced mushrooms, celery and cucumber with fat free dressing) and I've been having that as lunch so I'm not so cranky at work. I have also had sugar free pops, jell-0 and broth. At this point I've lost 10 - 12lbs.

So scared to get rid of fat clothes!

Great ideas to keep a couple of key articles of clothes as a reminder of things past. Maybe I'll get a shadow box and frame some granny panties and a bra... just for laughs inside the closet door.

Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet

I started pre-op diet on 1/21 and my surgery is on 2/3. I have two protein shakes and one salad w/ chicken or tuna every day, sugar free pops and jello-o. I caved and had two hershey's kisses today - but all in all think I'm ok. I hope. The hunger is tough but chicken / beef broth and hot tea have been keeping it in check for me.
  23. I completely understand your pain; I am an accomplished photographer, it was the simplest way to ensure I could always be safe behind the camera.

    Am I the only one

Muscles retain water in order to heal which is what makes your jeans tight. It should pass in a day or so. The more water you are able to drink the faster it will relent.

which name do you like better?

I really like Owen or Logan; but they are all great names.
