  4. I am having my surgery with Dr. Ceron on 4-24-10. I was wondering what you ended up doing. Thanks.

  5. Hey there- I understand what you mean. I just had my first fill the other day and I can say wow what a difference!! I tried eating a piece of cheese and turkey today and I didn't chew it enough and it felt like the most uncomfortable pain ever--Never felt anything like it. Keep up the good work and hope your future fills are good!
  6. Hey Mike,

Yes the pre op diet is hard but it is totally worth it. I just had my surgery on Friday the 22nd and the doctor said that i did such a great job that he only had to do 4 insicions instead of 5. Now that the surgery is over and i think that i am starting to recover I am remaining focused on my journey ahead. I hope that all goes well with you.

  7. hi lola my name is mike and i was just reading ur post about the pre op diet! and congrats that sounds like its hard to do!! i havnt been banded yet i go to my consultation feb.9th and get a surgery date then also! i cant wait to have a set date!!! so when do u get ur surgery?

  8. Thank you for that. I keep thinking that it will be worth it and just to hold strong. You have done well--Congrats. Would you do it all over again? I am drinking some broth right now...Dreaming of the future.
  9. Hey Everyone!! My Surgery is in ONE week from today and I have been "on" the pre op diet Since Jan 4th. I started to do a shake for Breakfast and lunch and a small dinner....NOw I find myself with Three shakes a day, sugar free Jello and broth. This is very Very Hard to do. I feel like my insides are eating eachother and psychologically can't get past the not eating idea. I have tried projects to keep busy, early to work and it still doesn't help me at 8 o'clock when I need a snack. Does anyone have some tips????:tt1: ALso, I would like to Super COngratulate anyone who has TRULY stuck with this diet.... I am so excited for my band and can't wait to be a Real Bandster. XOX LOLA

Using FSA/HSA Funds for Lap Band in Mexico

I am in the same boat that you are in. I assigned the full ammount of 5000 to my FSA account. There is a way around it.... email me and I will let you know what I am doing. Luminouslife424@yahoo.com Its sort of tricky and I don't want anyone to judge me. LOLA
  11. Please,,, Any feed back?? He is a Lap Band Doc in Cancun and he uses the amerimed hospital. If you have any feedback it would be greatly appreciated!!
  12. Hey Everyone!!! I am going to be banded in January in Cancun, Mexico. Does anyone know or heard of Dr. Fernando Ceron?? I am looking for anyone who would like to share there Cancun story, or other important info regarding Dr. Fernando Ceron. Insight is worth its weight in gold right now!!! Also--Does anyone know how to research a doctor from Mexico?? Thank you, LOLA
  13. Well, I went for my fill today and found out it is leaking. The Doctor said it is either the port, the tube or the band itself. I don't know what I am going to do. I know my insurance wont help pay to get it fixed...I am really upset and can't stop crying...sorry, I don't know what to tell you. The Dr said about 10 out of every 1000 leak..I m going to start searching and find out what I can from others who have gone through this. You hear about things not going right with the band and you hope it will not be you...well I should have know better. I guess all the people who were against me going to Mexico in the first place can now feel justified in all the discoraging things they said to me.

Sorry, I am really not myself, good luck and hope all goes well for you.

  14. My message was too long so here is the rest LOL!

The amerimed hospital was cleaner then any hospital that I have been to in the states. The staff speakes limited english but comunication really wasn't a problem. Dr Perez speaks good english, Dr Ceron does not. LOL

Dr Perez is easy to get ahold of. I have spoken to him sereral times since coming back to the states because of paper work that I needed filled out for work. I did finally get all of that straigtened out. I would suggest if you have any paper work like FMLA or short term disability documents that you need for work - take them with you!! That would have saved me a lot of time!

Good luck and keep me posted!! I am sure everything will go well for you!

  15. Hi Lola,

We stayed at the Grand Oasis resort primarly because it was cheaper, they were running a special. Cancun is beautiful with so many nice resorts that I wouldn't hesitate to go back. I would pick a place with at least 4 stars.

As far as the surgery goes I would do it again in a heart beat! This is the first time in my life that I feel in control and have lost over 50 pounds since July.

One thing I would ask about before going is the type of band you will get. I have an allergen band that holds 4cc. Most of the doctors in the states are using the allergen band that holds 10cc. The 10cc band is a newer band that is supposed to have fewer complications. If that is true or not time will tell. so far I havent had any problems and will be getting my 3rd fill today.
