    Chewable (yummy) Calcium!

My nutritionist recommended the Viactiv...said a lot of people like them cause they are like there evening tootsie roll! I got them and they are good! I was worried about taking them now that I'm only on liquids and my surgery corrdinator said just cut them up into 4ths. So I'll try that! Nothing taste great right now...so I think I'll wait a couple days till I'm off the clears. But yes they are GOOD!!!!!
  2. I went to my preop appt today and got my surgery date for January 26th! I'm excited and a little nervous too! I just have to continue the same diet I've been doing (lost 19 pounds so far) which is protien shake for breakfast, one for lunch, protien snack and veggies and dinner a low fat meat and veggies. Anyone else have the same date??? Have you strated your preop diet and how is it going? Just thought I'd say hi...would love to have some buddies to go threw all this with!!!!
  3. I've tried muscle milk light and it is good. I just got 5 containers of the unjury for my post op liquid diet. I ordered the samples and like them. And it ends up being cheaper than the muscle milk. You can order it online and you can order sample packets for $1.75 then you can try it before buying a big container! I bought the canation also and it dosen't keep me full...the mm and the unjury both did.
  4. Thanks! Surgery today went well. Having some pain but better than expected at this point. I had surgery at 8:45 and was home by 5pm! I'm glad to be home...it's a lot more comfortable. I had a little bit of nausea after I got out of surgery and they gave me some meds but none since then. Been sipping my clear liquids and everything going down fine. I'm hopping that all stays well and dosen't get worse... How did everyone else day go? Hope well. Well I'm off to try and get some sleep...I'll try and check in tomorrow. Christy
  5. Hey Mike...just a quick drugged up note here...lol! Just thought I'd let you know surgery went well! I went in at 6:45, surgery at 8:45 and I was heading home at 4pm. Got my meds and walked a little. Walking really helps the shoulder pain. A little bit of pain but ice on the port site and walking and heat on the shoulder (and the hydrocodone) seem to be helping a lot :) A little nausea when I first got out of surgery and they gave me some meds and I slept on and off for about 2 hrs....no more since then :) Been sipping my clear liquids and had some broth! Just thought I'd say hi...how's your pre-surgery stuff goin?

    tomorrows the DAY

I'm having surgery in the morning too...good luck to you!
  8. Thanks Mike....I will check in when I'm feeling up to it :) Appreciate the thoughts and prayers! Christy

  9. Getting a little nervous but that's normal I think! I wish eveyone that is having surgery tomorrow or the next day the best of luck! I'm sure we will all do wonderful!!!!!!! In a week we should be on the road to recovery! Thinking of you all
  10. The house is clean...I have plenty of soup, yogart, sf jello, sf popcicles, light juice and I should have my protien powder tomorrow. I ordered 5 containers from unjury. I had ordered there sample packets to try and they are all pretty good so I got all 5 flavors...so I hopefully wont get bored...lol!~ I think I'm ready...not really nervous yet other than about the diet afterwards...lol. I think I'll be more nervous when I get to the hospital on Tuesday. Well say a little prayer for me on Tuesday and I'll check in when I can! :)

  11. We live in Nampa...about 15 minutes from Boise! My surgeon is in Boise and I'll be having surgery at St. Alphonsus Hospital. So not really traveling unless you call 15-20 min travel...lol! I have a great support system...all my family and friends have been behind me 100%! My mom and dad are thrilled and think it will be great for me! I have a 9 year old daughter...she's a little aprehensive about the surgery but I know she sees why I'm doing this and when I get smaller it will be great to be able to do so much more with her! My fiance was a little apprehensive at first but not he's totally supportive. He will be taking me to the hospital and staying w/ me so that will be good. It does help to have people who are supportive. I've told pretty much anyone who ask...I figure I have nothing to be ashamed of and I'm not going to hide! Everyone at my work has been pretty supportive and my boss is wonderful! Only one full day left!

  12. Oh wow where in Oregon? I live in Idaho...haha we are neighbors! My surgeon is great...he sat down with me and my fiance and answered all our questions before my surgery. His staff is wonderful...made me feel comfortable even though I was super nervous (I was afraid they where going to say sorry no surgery for you...lol)! Ya I have my c-pap now...not too thrilled with it but I have it! lol! Acually when I have it on it dose seem to help me sleep but I wake up and take it off a lot....guess it just takes awhile to get used to. I'm hoping I can get rid of it soon after surgery :) Went to the store today and got lots of soup, yogart, juice, ff jello and ff popscicles..think I'm all set in the food department! Well back to cleaning...we are getting the house all clean before I head for surgery...lol! I don't want to come home to a dirty house!

  13. Thanks Trisha...looks like you've done a great job! :cursing: Congrats on your weight loss! I like your daughters Dr...lol! My Dr. has also done thousands of band and still pretty strict on the diet! Mine is 3 stages also...stg 1 liquids, stg 2 soft and mushies and then stage 3 regular foods...stage 1-2 are 3 weeks each. I know it will all be well worth it! I went to the store today and stocked up on ALOT of soups (creamy), light juice, crystal light, broth and some activa yougurt. I think I'm about ready in the food department :scared2:
  14. I know right??? I think I might die too....but I'll try not to...HAHA! It's going to stink but I'll try my hardest. Man if I can get threw that I think I can do anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. That diet sounds pretty good Chele!!! I just have to keep on my same diet then eat a light dinner the night before...and of course nothing after mid-night.
  16. After surgery I have to do a 3 week liquid diet...I can have protien shakes, thin yougart, cream soups (no chunks), milk, sf jello or popsicles. Basically a full liquid diet. I know it stinks....I am totally not looking foward to it! I think I'm more nervous about the 3 week liquid them I am about the acually surgery. I'm afraid I'm going to be totally starving! I ordered 5 containers of that unjury protien powder...I'll try and use a lot of that! Hopefully it won't be to bad. And I just keep telling myself it's only 3 weeks of my life I can do that! After that then I have to do 3 week of mushies and soft food...I'm sure those potatoes and tuna will taste like heaven...LOL!!!!!!
  17. hi Mike...I just typed you out a long reply and my computer went crazy and lost it...urgh! Anyway yep Surgery onthe 26th it's pretty exciting and a little scary too! My surgeron dosen't make you do a total liquid diet...very low carbs. I have a protien shake for breakfast and lunch and a cheese stick or carrots w/ hummas for a snack then for dinner I have a lean meat, veggies and a salad w/ ff dressing. I've lost 19 pounds so far.

Yes I'm self pay....my insurance dosen't cover this surgery. They paid for some of the preop testing....I had to have 2 sleep studies (I found out I had sleep apnea) and a bunch of lab work. I paid for the phych eval and nutrition eval with my FSA.

I will be on a 3 week liquid diet after my surgery...that is scaring me more than the acually sugery! I hope I can do it!

Good luck w/ you visit on the 9th and write back if you want...I'll tell you what I know anyway...lol! Take care, Christy

  18. That's wonderful! Way to go!!!
  19. Wow Miss Melissa that is quick. I am self pay so mine went pretty quick but no where that quick! I went to my seminar in November, had to do 2 sleep studies (since they found I had sleep apnea), psych eval, nutrition eval and see my primary care physician for some labs and a letter of approval. I been on the diet since end of November...but I didn't stick to it over the holidays. I lost 12 pounds before Christmas and have lost another 7 since then. My Dr. wants his patient to loose 10% before surgery which I'm 10 pounds away from but if your close and keep loosing (can't gain any!) he will schedule surgery...so I'm scheduled for Tuesday. My sugery is at 8:45am. Hopefully there won't be any changes in the schedule prior to that! Melissa I would just try to do your diet as much as you can prior to your surgery....even if not to reduce the liver I think getting in the mind set would help after surgery! I will be on liquids for 3 weeks after....I think I'm dreading that more than the surgery itself! It is getting close...only 4 more days!!!

    Sleep Apnea?!?

I also had to have a sleep study before I could have surgery. My surgeon requires it because he says that 85-90% of obese people have sleep apnea and when you have ansthesia and pain medication combined it can increase the risk post surgery of respiratory problems. I also had to do 2 sleep studies. I had 33 apnea episodes in the first study so I had to go back for the c-pap study. The first one really stunk...the 2nd one wasn't quite as bad because I knew what I was up against....lol!!!! Anyway, I've had the c-pap now for about a month and I'm still trying to get used to it...as much as I'd like to say it's not helping I have noticed I'm sleeping much better when I have it on and I'm not as tired as I used to be. I know it stinks to have to wear the mask and I must say it's not the most comfortable thing...but give it a chance. We may end up liking it and it will make surgery much safer
