Hi Erin. I got moved into March. My surgeon is suggesting the Realize Band. Do you think that one causes more pain than the others. I still have time to change my mind.

Helo February Bandsters. May name is Marge and I am a transfer from the January Bansters. I went thru all the hoops for the insurnace in October-thru December and was scheduled to have surgeron on Jan 4. The day before Thanksgiving I came down with Shingles and the surgeon said don't worry they'll be gone by January. Well they aren't gone yet. So I have to go back and see him on February 18. I'm hoping that by then it will be a go and I'll have my surgery the following Monday which would be February 22. #1. Surgery date? Feb 22 (I hope) #2. State you live in? Florida #3. Doctor/Surgery Center? Dr. Scott Stevene Sarasota Memorial Hospital #4. Insurance or self pay? Insurance Out of pocket should be about $2500 #5. Age and height: 59 5'-4" #6. Current weight and goal weight? Current 218... goal 150 #7. What was your deciding factor for having this surgery? I want to be healthy. I have an older sister who is fat and has adult onset diabetes. I don't want her life. The older I get the more fearful I am about being sick. I want to be an active and healthy when I retire. #7. Do you have the support of family and friends? Yes, my husband is supportive and two of sisters I haven't told friends. #8. Concerns and questions? I am afraid that this too will fail. I've failed so many times before. I lose a ton and then it comes right back on with all its friends. I was so disappointed to have to cancel my January date. But now it gives me a chance to chat with a whole new bach of friends. Margge

Hello January Bandsers. I am sorry to say that I have to leave you all. My surgery has been pushed back. I go back to see the see the sugeion on February 18. He said it was just too risky to do the surgery when shingles are still evident. The port site would be just too close to the out break. Anyway it has been great reading all your stories and chatting with you. Good luck on your jouneys. Hopefullly I can still check in JAN BAND and see your post of progress. AWESOME! I love it. You are so talented. Wish I knew how to do that kind of stuff. I'm back to the surgeon today to see if my surgery is a go for the 18th. Keep your fingers crossed. Marge:thumbup:

I kind of like January On A Jouney. Wouldn't it be neat to gather a total weight loss for the group? How many 1000's do you think it would be? Here is the continuing saga on my journey to surgery. I was supposed to go in the pre-admission testing on Thursday Dec 30 and then go see the surgeon that afternoon to determine if I could have the surgery because of my shingles. I didn't sleep much the night before because of pain and just couldn't get out of bed on the 30th. I had to cancel the pre admission testing and the Dr's visit. So now I'm waiting for a call back to get me back on the schedule. I am now hoping for Jan 18. That is if the surgeon will do the surgery considering the complications . Wish me luck.

Hi Barbara. I had to postpone my Jan 4 date. I've been sick and couldn't make it to the Pre admission testing on Dec 31st. I'm talking to the Dr's office tomorrow and hoping to be put on the schedule for Jan 18th. I'll keep you posted. Where in Michigan are you from. Hey there foreme. We are having surgery on the same date. Jan 4 Can't wait. I'm at about 220 wanting to get down to 140. I can't stand the way I look or feel. I sometimes wonder if its stupid for me to do it at my age. (I'll be 59 in February) but I sure would like to be healthy going to retirement years. Good luck. Talk to you soon. Marge.
