Ins. covers surgery but how much for fills?
MaggieB replied to Rainydayz's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have Aetna (80/20 plan). I pay out of pocket until my deductible is met ($350 max for me or $700 max for family). Once the deductible is met the fill is covered with the copay. -
Started a new type of workout at Crossfit. i have only been twice and both times during the workout I have gotten really lightheaded & nauseated. What exactly is causing this...increased heart rate, my blood sugar dropping??? Just want to prevent it from happening - so embarrassed to need to lay down for fear of passing out. I drink plenty of water during the day and usually have some kind of light snack about 30 minutes before the workout. Does anyone have any suggestions for me.

Yes I would!

If your band is tighter in the morning...
MaggieB replied to amberakamom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't physically feel anything unless I try to eat/drink in the morning. I drink a protein shake every morning for my breakfast. Some days I have to take that slow. Hard to describe - not a stuck feeling more of a feeling of the liquid getting backed up - its almost like I can't swallow. Doesn't hurt. By the time lunch rolls around I am good to eat a regular meal. -
I was getting dressed this morning and for once...
MaggieB replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started buying just one thing at a time - for me it was jeans - cheap ones, bought them at Kohls for $19.99. When I reach goal I plan on buying some cute, expensive, name brand jeans. It keeps me motivated knowing I am shrinking -
How many of you have a personal trainer?
MaggieB replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I had it in my budget I would use them more often. Right now I will use one when specials are running at the gym. I tend to work out harder and am more consistent with going to the gym if working with a trainer. -

Same here. I was a size 20/22 when I started, now down to size 12. I went shopping yesterday and it felt so good to try one clothes and have them actually fit! It took alot of self control to not buy everything I tried on I am so ready for summer - ready to wear cute sundresses, shorts etc. Congrats on your weight loss! -
ditto to what Acadia stated. I would not consider 99.5 a fever unless your normal temp runs low (97ish).

Question about food
MaggieB replied to TurboDriver's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are going to get different opinions on this subject. I don't limit my carbs but there are some I just cant eat anymore - real doughy bread, thick pizzas, sometimes rice etc. -
Do you measure your salads???
MaggieB replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I measure the cheese, meat and dressing. Most salads are sliders for me. I kindof use weight watchers plan - most veggies are "free" and you can eat as much of them as you want. -
Lean Cusine and other frozen Pre made foods
MaggieB replied to Steph951's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always keep a few in the freezer just in case I don't make it to the grocery store or if I am in a hurry and need something quick & easy. The portion is big - I usually only eat 1/2-3/4 of one. -
Any runners out there?
MaggieB replied to conservachick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just started the C25K program, hoping to run a 5k in May. I participated last year presurgery and walked the whole thing in 59 minutes, this year I plan on running it. We have also signed up for "Warrior Dash" in April - hoping to run it also. I did "Run the Jailbreak" (similar to Warrior Dash) last September, hoping to improve on my time in the Warrior Dash. -
I would call the insurance company first then verify with doctors office.

I watched it but found it a bit boring. My cousin will be on a show airing sometime this spring - "Extreme Makeover: Weight loss edition" . The show has been following her and others for a year. She started out at 445 and has lost quite a bit of weight and is looking great. Look it up on Facebook for more info. I am so curious how the final show will be after the editing. Sometimes I feel a little guilty that I had to have surgery to help with my eating habits and all she did was work out like a mad women and eat right. I just hope and pray that she is able to keep the weight off.

Crazy Food Regimens & Nasty Protein Shakes -- Not For Everybody
MaggieB replied to ckeely's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I totally agree with you and basically do the same as you. I do admit to having a Protein shake in the morning as my Breakfast - I just can not eat in the morning. My doctor is fine with it as long as I am not replacing more than 1 meal with the shake. It seems like alot of people on this site vomit, PB or slime on a regular basis - I have a few times (my own fault - eating fast, too big of bites). But I learned real fast what to do to prevent this from happening. I do not deprive myself anything - that is how I failed on "diets" before. I just try and make better choices with my food. I tend to eat high protein, low carbs but do not elimiate all carbs - I consider fruit and such to be "good carbs & good sugar" that our bodies need. I too am happy and satisfied with my weight loss. -
Cuisinart small hand blender - easy to assemble and clean & easy storage. Purchased at Walmart.

Do you feel the band inside? The port?
MaggieB replied to jazzyjen's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I cant feel the band but I do feel the port - just like others if I lean against something or am sleeping on my left side I feel it. Doesn't hurt, nor is it uncomfortable - its just there. -
Dont mind you asking. Love to help. This whole process can be nerve racking at times.
The 3 month fast track took almost 6 - by the time i finished all required appointments. I started all of my appointments in January. Doctor sent in paperwork for approval 4/30, Aetna received info 5/11, approved me 5/18 and I had the letter of approval 5/24. My surgery was 6/10.

I had some hair loss after about 3 months but it seems to have stopped.

Is this stupid...?
MaggieB replied to SuzanneCollins's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here - if my doctor didn't require it I would not have done it! Though I was lucky compared to others - i only had 3 days of "full liquids" - I could still eat oatmeal, cottage cheese, yogurt, thin soups etc.
