    Hair loss!!!

I wouldn't worry too much...unless it's coming out in clumps or something...the same thing is happening to me around 4 months post-op...when I told my dr she explained that it's very typical to have some hair loss about 3 or 4 months post-op...because of the trauma your body experienced from the surgery and how it relates to your hair growth cycle...same reason some women often have thinning hair a few months after giving birth...happened to me with both of my kids (both c-section)...a few months later my hair was back to normal....although a little extra Protein couldn't hurt either. Good luck!

How often do you weigh yourself?

I weigh myself nearly every day...first thing in the AM, wearing nothing...I just feel its more accurate (my clothing tends to weigh 5-8lbs depending on the season)...most scales are are off by 1% of your body weight +/-...so I don't put too much emphasis on minor fluctuations. Generally speaking, I have to weigh myself daily because ignorance is bliss for me...if I skip weighing myself for 2 weeks, I'll step on the scale and have a 5+lb weight gain. So it just keeps me focused.

    breakfast ideas

Chobani Greek Yogurt - thick/filling, lots of protein, non-fat, and decently low-cal...I like the vanilla, peach, blueberry and strawberry.

    food question...

I was banded 11/18/09...and down 62lbs since my suregery date...I can currently eat everything if I chew well *except* cold meat...about 1 month post op I took a few bites of leftover pork ribs from the fridge...they were nice and tender when warm - but cold, not so much...all I can say is ouch?! After about 30 min of intense pain in my esophagus, the chunk of meat came back up...learned my lesson. Side note is that I've only had one 3cc fill so far...in a 10cc LapBand...so that may be why I have less issues with food. Dr feels my weight loss has been good, so no additional fills have been needed so far. As for mushie foods I can't live without - Polly-O string cheese and Chobani Greek Yogurt...both are decently high in Protein and yummy...oh, and Laughing Cow light cheese spreads...I like the garlicy one spread on a Ritz Cracker (Garlic and Herb, maybe?)...all dr's have different rules for what constitutes a mushie, so make sure to find out what your's suggests. A few crackers were okay for me, but a no-no for others. Good luck!

November 09 Knockouts! Check in here POST surgery! :)

Went for my 1 week follow-up yesterday...all is well and was given the go ahead to move onto mushies...had a little bit of scrambled egg with a bit of melted cheese right after my appt...everything went down perfectly...today I has some greek yogurt for Breakfast, a few bites of chili for lunch and 2 crackers (okay with my dr if they're chewed well) with a soft spreadable herb cheese for dinner...felt wonderful to have so many options after the strict pre-op and liquid diets... Down 25lbs in 19 days (including pre-op)...feeling great!

November 09 Knockouts! Check in here POST surgery! :)

I did the barium swallow post-op (I was banded on 11/18/09)...talk about torture! lol Although it did give me some peace of mind to know that everything looked okay...

November 09 Knockouts! Check in here POST surgery! :)

I was banded on 11/18/09...2 weeks of Optifast pre-surgery, clear liquids the day before surgery and full liquids for the first week post-surgery. Can't wait to move to mushies next Wednesday! I'd kill for an egg or something right now?! lol Still having a bit of discomfort and some swelling, but I guess that is to be expected just 2 days post-op. I didn't realize how swollen I was until I stepped on the scale. I gained 7lbs while in the hospital and never had anything other then ice chips. I guess it's all the fluids they pump into your IV. Just like with any other surgery, this too shall pass. Excited about getting past this phase and becoming a healthier me!
