I had a similar problem with a colleague. She is very overweight and would make comments about the size of my lunchbox etc etc. She watched me like a hawk when I was eating. I would smile nicely back at her with every comment. Finally when we were alone, she broke down and told me how unhappy she was being fat. Anyway, six months later.... she got a lapband too :-) I have found the worst people are the overweight ones...

There are few pictures of me big. I have no idea what I weighed in this photo.. because denial is bliss lol....

:faint:Well blow me down with a feather instead of a steamroller... I have a normal BMI :clap2:. However, my happiness is kinda squashed by the results of the weight loss. At first I worried about my neck..then my arms... then my legs... then my stomach...until I saw a photo of my FACE  :cry I look ten years older. So I guess its the plastic surgery road for me at some time in the future. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas concerning PS and any recommendations for Tassie or Vic? Cost......pain..... eek. damn it.

Thank you everyone I will start checking.... I have an appointment with my GP next week and will see what he says too. :girl_hug:

I just wanted to say I LOVE MY BAND :clap2:. I'm down about 31kg's since June 20 and am very happy about that. I have 2.3cc's in my 4 cc band and, in hindsight, the second fill I didn't really need. It's been some trip. I still get anxious buying clothes and tend to lurk in the plus size section...it just feels like home there....even though I bought two new tops and a pair of trousers the other day that are a size 12 . I still can't quite believe it. I love not being obsessed by food... playing mind games with myself like.... if I eat this today I won't eat as much tomorrow etc etc. I am even enjoying doing exercise . And to top it all off... someone who was trying to be nasty to me called me a "skinny bitch" HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAA - love it .

LOL YESSSSSSSS! I wish I had leaflets to drop LOL. If we drive or walk past someone my husband now says.........."dont say it". I cant help saying... oh she/he could use a lap band LOL Two people at my work place are now banded and a third is considering it. I didn't tell anyone at first but as they all thought I was dying (I lost quickly at first, had a couple of weeks off work, and got the receptionists to witness my Will before leave so they all put 2 and 2 together and came up with 5 lol) I had to own up lol.

Just wanted to say that I have enjoyed reading this thread. I started out June 20 2006 with a BMI of 36.7, high blood pressure and high blood sugar levels. I am now down to a 26... after losing 66lbs and have normal blood pressure and normal BSL's :clap2: No meds for bp or diabeties now. I am one point off a 'normal' BMI lol. I don't really have a goal weight .. it keeps changing! I had one five week stall then things just started happening again. I have 2.3cc in a 4cc band after two fills and really didn't need the second fill. I feel very fortunate to not have had any problems. I love this band .

Congratulations! Just take it easy and recover. I think this knocks us around more than what we think. Welcome to the Band :clap2:

Hiya, I was banded on June 20 this year so it's not six months yet. However, I often order entree size meals for the main meal. Soup is always a good standby and seafood chowder is often nice too. I was worried at first about people knowing but now I don't care who does! I had an invitation to my 30th High School Reunion the other week.. $45 a ticket for an 'all you can eat buffet'.. great I thought.. thats an expensive meal lol. So I emailed the person back and said due to medical reasons (nothing like being mysterious) I wont be able to eat that night. "No problem just buy your drinks then" came the reply. I've never had any trouble getting doggy bags and I'm in Australia.. obviously I dont frequent posh enough restaurants LOL. I used to love steak and chops etc.... now I don't. You get a sore jaw from all the chewing you have to do and the greasey taste is awful. Makkers? Not interested in them anymore either. Just see how you go. It's amazing how your tastes change.

I now have ...........................KNEECAPS! :peace:

I've heard it can take two weeks for a fill to 'kick in' for some people......

Trouble I find with fitday and sparkpeople is that it isn't geared to Aussie food products.

19.8 kg's since June 20 :clap2: Now if I can just go into the 'normal size' clothing section and buy a pair of trousers without feeling like a fraud for being there my weekend will be great lol.

I am not near any face to face OA meetings but I use the online meetings at times. I also like their literature. With any of these type of support groups it can really depend on who is there unfortunately. So, I use what I can get out of it via online meetings and their literature. Ya never know unless you give it a go

Don't forget you can claim 80% of out of pocket expenses after $1500 at tax time

HELP...Is this the right thing to do???????
SharynP replied to April's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi April, I can't add much to what others have said about jitters - normal I am lucky I didnt have a pre-op diet. I didn't tell my mother and I'm glad I didn't. She only found out a week after the op because I had to go and tell her her sister had died. Even now she doesn't comment on my weight loss except to say she likes me better fatter!!! The only person who knew was my husband - even my grown up kids didn't know. I didn't want any negative comments at all during the jitter period. I told one workmate but now a few more know as I have become more comfortable talking about it. Two are now considering getting banded! I didn't tell people at work because I wanted to get my head around it all first. I told my boss the second week I was back at work because he was genuinely concerned I was seriously ill. He kept popping his head into my office and asking if I was alright. I had two weeks off work that stretched to three because of a chest infection so by that time the weight loss in my face was noticeable. As the weight loss becomes noticeable people ask how do you do it? Some I tell, some I don't :nervous Today someone said to me.. You are looking thinner what are you eating? Or not eating? I just said... three small meals a day, no snacking, no drinking before, with or after meals, no caloried drinks and exercise ... and smiled -
I was banded on June 20th of this year and wow what a journey it's been. I'm doing well having lost 18kgs. I had my first fill last week and now reality has hit home about the amount I can actually eat :hungry:. Oh yeah.. the gelatenous blobs were fun too :speechles . The 'head issues' are on the surface now that I can't use food to ease anxiety, anger etc etc etc but all in all I have no regrets .

Hi all just thought I'd drop in and say hello. I was banded on June 20 and got my first fill on August 23...boy has that been a learning experience!!! I've got pretty good restriction and am down 40lbs now. I do miss the social aspects of food but not the weight lol. Sharyn :welldoneclap:

Hi Goannabanda (love the name lol) I was banded on June 20th in Hobart by Dr. Wilkinson (funny little dr who wears white overalls - first time I saw him walk into his rooms I thought he was a painter LOL). I live in the North West so its about a four hour drive to see the doc. I had my first fill on August 23rd - 2cc's in a 4cc band. Boy...was that a wake up lol. No local support group here... my only support has been via the net and my husband who is great. Congrats on making the decision to be banded - it's not one to be taken lightly. The change in lifestyle is pretty major both for you and your family. I miss the social aspects of food but I sure don't miss the 18kg lol.

Thanks Elisabeth :-)

Hi Mel, Good luck with your appointment. Make sure you ask lots and lots of questions. The band is a great tool but it's not magic you still do the work!

Thanks Fee hi :-) I'm from Tassie.
