28 weeks Pregnant and port pain
jzh0518 replied to Harbace's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I'm 30 weeks pregnant and was banded in Nov 09. I had some internal, right under my largest incision, pain at about 12-14 weeks. It would come and go, my doc said that it was just some of the scar tissue stretching. I haven't had any pain there since so that's good. As for my port, it gets a little sore from time to time after Braxton hicks but it usually goes away in a couple of days. It does stick out but it's right under my left boob so it's not too obvious and I don't wear super tight shirts. I also was worried about labor and contractions with it but it's good to read that the other lady didn't have a problem with it then. I might have to have a repeat c-section anyway so it more than likely won't be an issue at all at that point. Good luck to all of you who are pregnant and lots of hope to all of those trying to conceive. It's a different pregnancy altogether being banded but it's so nice to weight less this time. I am so much more comfortable and I feel like I can breathe better. -
I was banded in Nov 2009 and was really excited and interested in the whole process. I started at 205 lbs and am hoping to get to 122 lbs. Well, I am 8 months post op and I have ONLY lost 18 lbs!!!! I believe that my problem is that my surgeon doesn't seem to like to give me fills. I have had about 4 fills and am at 6cc in a 10cc band. I just don't think that he hears me when I am talking about how I don't feel "restriction" like everyone else. I definately have NOT found my "sweet spot" and so desperately want to. Also, my husband and I are ready to get pregnant but I was hoping to loose a good amount of weight first....I am so frusterated...any advice? Please?

Hi All, I just wanted to post my surgery experience. I was banded by Dr. Steven Bonomo from Greenville, NC. The hospital is in Washington, NC though, only about a 40 minute drive from his office. The staff at the hospital couldn't have been more thorough and kind. I initally thought that I would stay overnight but found out only after my surgery that I would go home that same day when I was ready. Well the surgery was timely and I was up and out of the bed going to the bathroom only hours after recovery. I can't say that I remember seeing the Dr. after the surgery but there was no need to see him. The nurses were able to tell me everything I needed to know and the anesthesiologist came to check on my iv a little later. Amazing experience... I would do it all over again.

Don't be scared. It was such an easy surgery. I had minor pain for maybe 2 days after surgery and that was only when I was getting up from laying down. It's a breeze. The only hard part is the liquid diet the first 2 weeks but from what I understand it only gets easier from there. Good luck!

Getting Banded on 11/24 and the pre-op diet is hard work
jzh0518 replied to auntbunnie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey there, I am getting banded on Thursday, Nov 19th. I get the same reaction from people, that I am ruining my holidays but they have no idea at how releived I am that I am going to be banded through that part of the year. As for the pre-op diet. I am struggling. I am only a BMI of 37 so my Dr. said that my liver is probably not too fatty but I feel like I am in mourning over the foods that are about to "die" in my life. I have been eating everything in sight but I know that after the surgery I will really make the changes and that will be all she wrote...
