Has anyone gone through Tufts health insurance for the by pass? I am told I might have problems get approval to go from the band to the RNY beause my BMI is on the borderline although I do have comorbidities.

December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??
manseaud replied to loretta\ Baconton Georgia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Everyone: I was banded on December 16 and I went back to work on January 3. Feeling a bit tired, but otherwise not too bad. Down about 20 lbs since the surgery. Went on to 'mushy' and 'soft foods' yesterday and it's going well. Good luck to everyone! -
Pre Lap Band Surgery Testing?
manseaud replied to MrsMyers10's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Besides the regular tests, I also had to have an upper GI and a manometry test. Theses are required by my surgeon. I am already using a C-Pap so I didn't have to do another sleep study. So I would say it depends on your surgeon and insurace company. Good luck! -
How Long Were You Off Work After Lap Band Surgery?
manseaud replied to oliversmomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have an office job also, and my doctor is still telling me 4-6 weeks, but I may be able to go back after 2 wks if I feel ok. I don't understand why a such big discrepancy in the time off. -
HI! I have a surgery date of December 16! Looking forward to it, but nervous at the same time. I still have two tests to take; the upper GI and the manometry test. NOT looking forward to that one!

Hi! i just started with the program at UMass. Already had my first in-take appointment with Dr. Dragoon. Real nice and very easy to talk to. I have an appontment with the pyschologist on 6/30 and nutritionist on 7/25. Then I am all set for the classes. I am hoping to get the lap band procedure done in the beginning of 2012.

HI Kath: I started the program in Dec 2009, had my first intake appointment with a weight center doc., then met with the psychologist, both cleared me for the surgery. Now I have to meet with the nutritionist and sign up for two separate classes; one a behavioral class and the other a nutrition class. After these are done, I have to go backto the psychologist and doc.,' then hopfully I will be able to see a surgeon. The whole program takes about 6-9 months to complete.

Yes. I have been to the introductory meeting and one of the group meetings with people who have had the surgery. I had my first appointment with a doctor in the Weight center at UMass this past Friday. She says I'm candidate for the surgery and has set up an appointment with a nutritionist and psychologist for Febraury '10.

Lucy12 said she was denied and Dr. Gitkinds didn't give her a reason. I am just nervous. I have a lot of medical issues, but I know I can do this. Other diet programs haven't worked very well.
