I am one week post op. My post op info states I shouldn't drink no more than 2 oz in a 15 min period but I can drink up to 4 oz in that time. It's hard for me to sip and sip all day. I fill up my cup with 8oz of liquid at a time and try to get that down and even then Im not getting 8 cups a day in. I noticed that now my water and juice have to be very cold or my soup has to be hot in order for me to drink it which means I have to keep putting ice in my drinks and rewarming my soup. How was everyone experiences with getting the liquids in and am I drinking too quickly?

LOL. That's good at least you know you will not be dehydrated. The first four days after surgery were hard for me to get any fluid in because I had so much gas but now that the gas is almost gone, Im drinking alot more. I went walking yesterday and I realized that if I'm moving I can get even more fluids down in the same amount of time.

I don't have any discomfort drinking the liquids so I guess I should be fine. I just want to make sure I don't get dehydrated. Today was the 1st day I consumed 8 cups of fluid since the surgery and Im thrilled about it. I guess I will have to purchase some new containers, too. Thanks for the reply.

Is anyone else having surgery with Dr. Aceves on July 19th?
mjeancha86 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im scheduled to have my surgery July 19th with Dr. Aceves. The date is quickly approaching and I am getting nervous and somewhat anxious. How is everyone else coping with their upcoming surgery date and for the people who already had the surgery, what did you do to prepare for it mentally? -

My mother is coming with me and she was a little skeptical at first but she came around when I stood my ground about the surgery. I just never had any surgery before and those what ifs are lingering in my head as the surgery date gets closer. Also, im battling cravings and overeating on a daily basis and Im afraid if I cant control them now, how am I going to do so in 5 weeks. -
My surgery date is July 19 with Dr. Aceves. Im currently 260lbs and im trying to lose 10-15 within the next 5 weeks to get to my usual weight of 245 lbs. At my largest, I was 365lbs and I lose 120lbs through diet and exercise and I find that the weight has been creeping back on and I constantly overeating, so I decided to have the surgery to get the rest of the weight off and keep it off. I am getting nervous but Im also anticipating losing all the weight. I just received the protein powder samples ordered online. The first one I tried was the unjury unflavored sample and it was disgusting. Im a nurse and it smelled liked tube feeding formula. I also purchased some matrix protein and wheat nectar protein, so hopefully those taste better. I wish everyone has a safe and succesful surgery.

Hello I am fairly new to this forum. I joined about about three weeks ago in search of more information about the VSG and about Dr. Aceves and I have found that and much more. The people on here are very supportive of one another and provide great incite on the vsg experience. Let me tell you a little bit about me. Im a 23 yo nurse that resides in florida. I have been overweight since elementary school. Throughout my whole life I allowed my weight to hinder me in so many aspects of my life. When I eventually went off to college, the situation only got worse. I ate junk food on a regular basis and was very sedentary, with the exception of work and school. I stayed home all day. I went from 280lbs to 365lbs within the span of two years. I was finally fed up with my self and my self esteem took a dive too. My epiphany moment happened when I was looking through my camera and I realized that there were barely any pictures of me on there and the ones that were there I was disgusted with. So finallly I decided to do something about it. In January of 2008, I started my weight loss journey. I changed my eating habits and started to excercise. Surprisingly I lost 120lb through diet and exercise alone that year. But this last year has been much different. I can lose weight but I have a hard time keeping it off and staying motivated. My main problem is once I start eating, I can't stop until Im full. Over the past year I have losed and gained the same 10 pounds. And I am tired of it. 233 pounds has been my lowest weight and I am currently 265lbs. I have come to far to come back to 365 lbs. Im ready for a change so I have scheduled my surgery with Dr. Aceves for August 1st.

Im ready for a change
mjeancha86 replied to mjeancha86's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you for the support, everyone. I feel it is best to do it now and get it over with. It's going to be a lifestyle change for the better. I hear people say all the time that they were in shape in their twentys. I want to be able to say the same but i also would like to keep it that way throughout my life. -
