    First step down...

I know how you feel. When I went for my EKG last week the tech asked me why I was having weight loss surgery and that I didn't need to have it. She said that I was not that big and that I just needed to get motivated and exercise more like on The Biggest Loser! I wanted to tell her to mind her own business but I just said that my weight and BMI say that I do qualify for the surgery! I wish they would just do their job!
  2. Wow, things are starting to happen fast! I have my EGD scheduled tomorrow, a nutrionist appointment Wednesday, Chest X-ray, EKG, ABG, and PFT scheduled for Thursday, Cardiac consult next Tuesday, and my psych consult on 2/10! After all of these tests at least I'll know if I'm healthy or not! :-)
  3. Congratulations on a very successful year! You look great!

  4. Thanks for friending me too!

    Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

I am hoping for a March date! I finish with all of my pre-op tests on 2-15-10.

    Approved!

Congratulations! I can't wait to hear the same news!
  7. I haven't started my pre-op diet yet but they gave it to me. It is a low carb Atkins shake for breakfast and for lunch. Dinner is a serving of lean meat and 2 servings of low carb veggies and/or fruit. I will have to do it for 4 weeks. If you have a BMI of 50 or over you have to do it for 6 weeks.
  8. Things are finally moving along! I finished my six months supervised weight loss program, will have my 2nd support group meeting 1/25 (we have to attend at least 3 before surgery), EGD scheduled for 1/26, dietician on 1/27, and cardiologist on 2/2. The only one left after that will be the psych. appointment and they haven't given me the time for it yet. After that they will submit everything to insurance for approval. It feels like it is really going to happen now!
  9. Hi, I met with my surgeon on 1/6/10 and I have to see the nutritionist, cardiologist, and psychiatrist over the next couple of weeks. I have already completed my 6 month physician supervised weight loss program. They told me that after all my appointments are finished they they will submit to my insurance. I have BCBS of Alabama. I think it depends on what your particular doctor's protocol is. Good luck!!!
  10. I had my surgeon consult today. Now I have to have an EGD in 2 weeks, see the cardiologist, nutrionist, and psychiatrist. My doctor also requires that you go to 3 support meetings before the surgery and I have already been to 1, so I have to go to 2 more. I think I am probably looking at either late Feb or March for my surgery. I am excited that things are moving along now!

    Finally!

Thanks for the replies! The information they sent me says that this $100 fee covers the cost of holding the seminar and that there are no other service fees. Oh, also it is the educational seminar.
  12. My seminar is finally only 5 days away! I've been waiting a month for this! Ready to get the ball rolling!

    Finally!

Well, it's not a free seminar because I have to take a $100.00 fee that night. I have already gotten my referral to the surgeon and they have all of my medical records. After this seminar they are supposed to call me and set up the consultation with the surgeon. I feel like something is finally happening now.
  14. Hi everyone. I have been looking at this site for a couple of weeks now and have been very encouraged by all of your posts. I am scheduled for my seminar on 12-14-09. I am so anxious to get the ball rolling. I have been on a diet program with my GYN for the last six months so I am hoping that will help with my insurance approval. I have a BMI of 42 and have sleep apnea, hypertension, and spinal arthritis. I just want to be healthy, have energy, and be able to play with my grandson more!
