Yep, she did say it. She said it was because it was a Sin and that they deserved it. Come to think of it, I guess she thinks that such punishments for Sin are easy ones compared to eternal Hellfire.

I personally wasn't too keen on carrying my pregnancy to term just because it wreaks havoc on the body. This was why I wanted an abortion although I had a support system in place had I chosen to go through with the pregnancy. My mother had three large pregnancies while she was in her 30s - I was the lightest baby and I weighed 9 and a quarter pounds - and she did suffer post-menopausally thanks to us. She had a prolapsed uterus and continency problems; all of this sounded quite horrific to me. And she was fat! She had been a slender, elegant woman and now she was beefy and had no waist. I put this down to the ruinations of pregnancies and thought that I wanted no part of this. Little did I realize that this was my genetics speaking to me through my mum - ugh! - and that I would gain weight myself in just such a manner post menopause. I don't have to wear adult diapers, though, or worry about a sneeze. -
Well, it indicates that she is crackers and is not thinking of her kids. I feel sorry for her mum. Congratulations, Kat, on your daughter's recovery.

Where, oh, where is God these days? Why doesn't He manifest Himself, except in the person of His hall monitor, Pattygreen? This absence is why Green finds it so difficult to believe in Him.... Why, it is easier to believe in Bill Maher than it is to believe in God/Allah/Jaweh. -
Yep, she and Whacko Jacko are both fans of cosmetic surgery, and babies. Ha ha.

Anyone notice Post Banders are a bit snobbish?

Dill pickles are very, very low cal. -
It was an interesting show. Dr. Phil became very frustrated by her during their interview as he himself admitted to his audience. He kept trying to get her to admit that she made a very big mistake which she wouldn't. She was full of self-justifications. Part two will be on today. I can hardly wait! And I have the rest of the pasta to nuke and then to eat. My dietitian visited me (I was afraid that I would miss part of Dr. Phil) yesterday and weighed me and told me that I have lost 6 lbs. I now weigh 124. Throat cancer is verrry slimming! In every cloud is a silver lining, is what I say....

I am so much looking forward to today Dr. Phil show. I am gonna have a bath before hand, not answer the door nor the phone, and I am going to make a bowel of sphaghetti. Ooops! I must rush. Only 1 hour to go until it is on local time!

Well, the problem, as I see it, is that Pattygreen's God made f@cking so much fun! -
I find it really irritating when young people who are not particularly well-educated figure that they are experts and can shoot their mouths off on any old issue. Grrrr.

Yah, if octotwat is having children in the hopes of having creatures who will love her regardless, her plan, she will find out when they become teenagers, will have been in vain. She would be better off to adopt a dozen dogs or so from an animal shelter. I have cats; I am used to being shown the paw. LOL

My husband watched this clip between the mum and octotwat and he thinks that she, Octotwat, is a bitch.

I saw Slumdog Millionaire. There has been a lot of Indians complaining that it does not show India in a very good light but I have been to India and I have also read novels written by Indians and set in India and I would say that it is about accurate. I enjoyed it.

How did your aunt, the one who wasn't crazy about babies, deal with her pair of diaphragm kids? -
She's an idiot.
-
I remember this. I, too, figured that Condit was the guilty one.

Nope, I was using the diaphragm and spermicide at the time. Mine was very well fitted. It was like a suction cup once in place. Menopause was fabulous for me and for my mum. As for her, there were no side-effects. One period 6 weeks after she gave birth to my kid bro and then it was as though "a tap had been turned off" - her words. I did have some hot flashes but because I was building aircraft at the time my bosses were convinced that I was working hard. LOL The other men would gather round me whenever I was deep into a hot flash in order to gawk. I would warn them that they would be going through this soon enough via their wives. In the Canadian winter, these were most useful but in the summer they were intolerable! My husband missed being able to cuddle with me, and I became a fan of natural fabrics. LOL -

Thanks for the info re the IUD. Fortunately for me, that ship has sailed a long time ago! I went through menopause when I was comparatively young - about 41 or 42 - and in this took after my mum (heredity did play a role - mum went through hers when she was 39, just 6 weeks after she had her last baby). Menopause was a very positive experience for me. I didn't have to worry about getting pregnant, nor were there those painful menstrual cramps to deal with. It was for this reason that I did not go on HRT until about 5 years post menopause. -

I agree with this post. Know-it-all Pattygreen's extreme approach, that of acting as her God's hall monitor, certainly is alienating and turns people off. It seems to be predicated on the punitive, old testament approach. Of course, I have already mentioned that it is characteristic of many teens to indulge in risk-taking behaviour. They are not capable of drawing a line between the act and the consequences; this is, as much as anything, due to developments in their specific psychology. They are growing up and learning and a certain degree of rebelliousness is part of the learning process. Pattygreen seems to derive some kind of perverse joy in irritating us by telling us what she - oops! God wants us to do. As to why, who the hell knows? She does not hang out with her co-religionists on the Christian threads. I know; I have checked. -

I was under the impression that the IUD was another form of birth control which worked by causing the fertilized egg to not adhere to the walls of the womb - in short, a kind of abortion. This is what a Catholic doc told me when I was casting about for a safer alternative to the Pill - at the time I was a smoker and was entering into my 30s. She sure didn't approve of the IUD on moral grounds. She practically chased me out of her office after I innocently asked about it. I personally didn't think that it would work for me as I suffered from very bad menstrual cramps and I had read that the IUD could aggravate those. -

I always knew that I never wanted to have children when I grew up and I wasn't too sure whether I wanted to be tied down to one man, either. Marriage didn't interest me a lot. I wasn't too impressed by what I saw of my parents' marriage. It looked like my dad had all the freedom and the respect in that arrangement. So I did end up getting married and divorced while still in my early to middle 20s. After that I had a lot of different guys and that was really fun! I knew that I wanted to travel and see the world and I did get to do that. Now I am settled down (for over 20 years) in a common-law arrangement with a great guy who treats me like gold and who has nursed me through my bout with cancer and my various bouts with depression. I was very lucky. My life has been both good to me and very interesting. This grrl has no regrets. I know that if I had had that child life would have been quite different. It would have been necessary to supply the stability which I wasn't up for in order to do right by that child. Having a child sure is a responsibility. -

I really adored sex and tried to have my tubes tied but the docs all refused to do it. They said that I was young and that I might just change my mind. It was very frustrating. I have only met one woman from my era who was successful at getting hers tied. She told them that she was a drug addict and didn't want any kids and that she needed them tied. The drug addiction thing was a lie. It didn't occur to me to lie. Silly me. -

I am an atheist but if I am wrong and there is a God I am going to mention Battygreen's name and tell him that it was all her fault. Har. -

Pattygreen, you are one of the most irritating presences on this forum what with your rabbiting on about God and what you think you know about Him. Do you have any friends at all other than the Trinity???? Are you not afraid of driving people in the other direction? and alienating them from what you believe in?
