Yah, the inability to edit is a total drag. I get frustrated by this, too. -
Just think: wattage! Another thing you can boast about, along with breeding, intelligence, and cute tricks in your cat!

There have been some hideous road accidents and deaths but this has been due to the weather.

I am very, very blonde when it comes to this biz of flirting. All signs of sexual attraction have always gone drifting way over my head unless the guy actually unzipped and waved his short leg at me or turned into some kind of a weirdo stalker or got down on one knee and flashed serious bling in my direction. It is only at this point that I have ever done a Homer and said "d'oh!" This blondeness meant that my sexual life was complicated for here I was, ready and anxious to play and also not willing to settle down, but I was operating under a terrible handicap: I was completely oblivious to the more subtle signs of sexual interest. (One of the hottest guys in my college followed me home one night and I dealt with this by parking him in my parents' bedroom! I still wince when I remember this.) I have been settled down now for a big bunch of years but from time to time someone does check me out. I never notice. It usually takes my husband or a friend to draw this to my attention.

I love this story! Thanks, Wheetsin. :biggrin1:

Unfortunately, the motivation behind this destruction was not need but an immature desire to smash and destroy. Green has been directing her profiling talents to your case and she is inclined to believe that the idiotic perps who are most likely to have engineered this stunt are teenage boys. It is possible that there were some sad-ass and pissed off teenage girls who may have participated.

Awww.... They are so cute!

Hey, you have got a point. We should be here, helping each other out. I am still with bad reflux and am defilled. And it is the Xmas season, the time of year when I skid into my annual depression and only want to carb it, candy it, and guzzle too much scotch. :help: And I haven't sent out a single bluddy Xmas card! :omg: Xmas is always Angst City for me. And the weather has been lousy this year and now that I am normo-sized I actually suffer from the cold. :phanvan Good thing I see a psychologist, eh. She has told me to avoid going to the in-laws and this has taken considerable pressure off the Green. :whoo:I am planning to spend Xmas Eve, the in-law fest, at home watching DVDs and eating something healthy. I just haven't told the mate, yet. Indio, you look fabulous, grrl. Congratulations to you, sez Green.

Soon you will be banded, Bert, and your life will begin to change. Once you have recovered from the surgery itself you will begin to receive your fills and then you will find that you will simply be unable to eat very much. The band will be a physical barrier against this. Of course you know this already. My hunch is that now that you know that a change is possible you feel that you simply cannot wait any longer, and your weight is really getting to you. This is a T-shirt which so many of us have worn and so we understand your pain. Perhaps a good thing for you to do right now is to occupy yourself by reading over the information contained in the posts on this site and make yourself some lists. Making lists may make you feel that you are doing something positive in order to prepare for your new life and may also help these days go by a little faster. The lists can be about the preparations you will need to take in order to ensure that your post-op period goes smoothly, and you can also begin to figure out what kinds of meals you will want to eat which are rich in Protein and fresh vegetables/fruit/fibre and low in bad carbs and sugars once you are living the banded life. One exercise in food watching which I found both educational and kinda depressing was to read the calorie and nutritional content info on prepared foods. I was shocked at how little nutrition was to be found in a can of vegie soup! eggs, on the other hand, are loaded with goodness and are low in calories. As for fattening anti-depressant type meds, ugh! I have been there. For awhile they put me on Risperidone and Effexor and the results were disasterous! You have all my sympathy.

Yep, they sure are weird, and "internet tabloids" is an excellent way to describe these e-documents. The Snopes site, the site which I posted in reference to the Obama biz, is a good one to bookmark; it is dedicated to examining urban myths and commentaries of this sort and will advise you whether such claims are true, false or unproven. Snopes will also provide you with all the details as to the why and list the history of the claim. :ranger: It is a really fascinating site.

I like shopping in real life. I am one of those who likes to touch the goods before she buys. I am really fussy about how things feel and how they are made; this includes shoes and handbags. And I need to try stuff on now that I have lost weight. I no longer have any idea as to what is going to fit. And I am fond of shopping in either independent boutiques where I can find unusual stuff or plowing through sale sections and the discount stores. Of course living in the heart of a large city where the public transit is safe makes this very easy for me. I can either walk or take transit just about everywhere. In fact I do a lot of walking while I am shopping. My mother-in-law, who lives in the suburbs, is often envious of my stuff. I invite her to come downtown for a shopping day but she never does. I have never actually bought anything on-line.

That really sucks! Travelgirl gives excellent advice.

I am sorry to hear about your dog's illness. It is always deeply painful for us when our animals are ill or dying. I mourned a number of animals myself over the past few years and I miss them all.

Shame on you, grrl, for not checking out the veracity of this poisonous email before posting it! Well, I did look into to the matter and can tell everyone that this particular email is both vicious and false. Here is the website: Urban Legends Reference Pages: Who Is Barack Obama? By the way, the snopes address is a good one to have bookmarked; it is the place to go to when you want to check whether of those urban legends are true or not.

Wow! Green has gotta go down there for a visit. My bro admits that he is lonely but he finds the land beautiful. He has been living down there for years and I have been too disorganised to get my arse down there for a visit. Um, and yes, I am an idiot. :faint:

The problem is these old creeps will hit on hot young women. I have been calling them Sperm Brains! since I was young. My reasoning was that all their aged sperm gets backed up in their aged plumbing and floods their so-called big brains. Ha ha. I was really amused when my aged British mum who spoke with an accent which was not that dissimilar to the Queen's also started calling these old pervos "sperm brains." Of course everytime she said "sperm brain" I used to fall over laughing. Some of the pervos whom I called sperm brains were quite a bit younger than I am now. Bwahhhh! :think

Um, I dunno what kind of positive spin I can put on the big butt or the big forehead........:huggie: I'm going to have to think about these important questions for awhile.
-
LOL :heh: Nope. My bro used to be a Canuck but it sounds like you and your family would make fine friends for him. :huggie: It seems that it ain't all that easy being a Democrat in Virginia, eh. :phanvan

Yep, my mum always liked to say that we Canucks are all a real Heinz 57, just like the soups. Of course this holds equally true for Americans, I figure. My parents are immigrants but I was born here in Canada and I am sunblock 50 white but about 15 years or so ago I used to amuse myself by telling those people who asked me about my roots that I was Jamaican. I would announce this in all sincerity without even attempting to change my Canuck accent, eh, and then I would groove on the weird looks which I would see on their faces. Oooh, it was so much fun for the very bored Green. :heh: (I was at loose ends at the time and so I indulged myself in a number of social experiments/pranks. :huggie:)

I am a scab-picker and a scratcher. I am also a hair plucker. Now that I am an old fart I have some face woolies to pluck at. My husband once suggested that I have them fixed forever but I was horrified at the thought; I had to explain to him that plucking them was very comforting.

Ditto, ditto, ditto, sez cranky Green!

I've read that Romney has been a very effective administrator of his state. I am a Canadian and atheist. Canadians really don't see what role religious affiliation plays, apart from a potentially divisive one, in the management of a government. Now, I am aware that y'all may consider that I am sticking my big loud foreign snout into your personal affairs but I confess that I am awful curious: what role does the religious affiliation of a candidate play if this individual has a proven track record at the state level, is promoting a platform which you find attractive, and seems to be an intelligent, educated, well-informed, and well-grounded kind of guy? Why is religious affiliation so important to Americans? Up here in Canada the religious affiliation of our candidates is never, ever publically discussed, not when our folks are running for office and certainly not when they are elected. Indeed those candidates who make a point who make a point of displaying their religious affiliations tend to remain unelected. The idea of combining religious beliefs and government tends to scare the poop out of us Canucks. What we do look when we are voting is for signs of intelligence, proven comptence/street cred, and the espousal of a platform which pleases us. From what I have read in the Canadian media is that Mitt Romney has done a fine job of looking after his state's affairs. This seems to be a point in his favour, eh. And while we are on the subject, I want to mention that I love Tishbite's very wise post. I had written a nice response in praise of this earlier today but it got eaten up in some kind of e-tsunami. blehhh........

I don't watch Oprah because I don't watch like to watch talk shows and I don't like to watch TV before the prime time hours but it is my understanding that Oprah is both a brilliant communicator and facilitator. She does do a brilliant job of entertaining her audience and, well, educating them and doing a little bit of consciousness raising. From what I have heard about her show she promotes reading, writers, and serious literature, has encouraged talking about relationship issues via her promotion of Dr. Phil, does feature the usual array of Hollywood stars, but also features real people and real issues on her show. There is, I am certain, much which has been overlooked in the above list: this is because I have never watched her show. (I've only seen her as an actress in a few movies and she is a very gifted actress.) I guess the point that I want to make is that this woman is extraordinarily talented, and highly intelligent and she also seems to have a moral centre. And she favours Obama in the up-coming presidential race.... Did it ever occur to any of you that she may be favouring him because she believes that he is the best candidate? and not because of skin tone? And as for this biz of one altering one's speech to suit one's audience, well, hell, Green has been doing this for years now. I am a fairly well-educated and literary kind of cat who spent the last 18 years before I retired building aircraft; do you think that I used the same vocabulary and grammatical complexities when I was hanging with my fellow grunts? And do ya think that my language is as foul when I post here as it is when I spend time with these buddies? Intelligent and sensitive communicators know that you pitch your language according to your audience. This is only a matter of showing respect to your audience the way I see it. It has no more significance than that.

My heart goes out to you, Lady. OCD is a horrible thing to live with. I do believe, however, that there is a spectrum with these illnesses, and that some individuals are more grievously afflicted than others. My tenant has OCD, she is a checker, and one of my closest friends, a guy who is gay and a paranoid schizophrenic, also seems to be afflicted with OCD. He is a counter but I sometimes wish that he was a washer for he lives in one of the grimiest apartments that I will voluntarily enter. He counts in sequences of three and he will chase his cat around the apartment if the animal jumps off his lap before he has finished giving him sufficient carresses that they add up to a multiple of three. He must count, you see. As for my tenant, the checker, she is prone to destroying door knobs, locks, and water faucets while she is checking to make absolutely sure that they really are closed, locked or off. She has become a close friend of mine and she always quietly replaces her own ruined hardware. Drugs like Prozac will cap this behaviour but the OCD sufferer pays a price; these drugs do tend to smash your sex drive. I am in the way of being a bit of a checker but I am still well within the boundaries of normal land. I do not lose sleep at night because of my urge to check and it doesn't take me 5 to 10 minutes to lock my front door. I do, however, have a bunch of little rituals. I have to spend a certain amount of time on the internet, and I have to watch prime time TV, and I cannot go to sleep before spending a couple of hours reading in bed. All of this adds up to a lot of chores which are left undone. Oh, ugh!

From what I have read Mitt Romney has governed his state very effectively, particularly so in his overseeing of the management of his state's finances. I have also read that in spite of this his religion may pose a problem with the American voter; this strikes me as being a strange reason to choose to not vote for someone who has a good platform and a solid record in his previous performance as state Governor. I admit that I am curious, however, to better understand your mention of the loss of importance of family in this society; you see, I want to know what you actually mean and how an elected leader could possibly affect this. I would really appreciate it if you were to expand upon this statement.
