    Banded 12/18 And staving!!

It sounds like you need more fill. You haven't reached your sweet spot yet. Once you reach this you will no longer feel hungry all the time.
  2. I went through menopause when I was in my very early 40s and began to gain weight. By the time I was 57 I was quite a fatty. This is when I got banded. It was the best thing I could have done for my weight problem. I am slim now. The waist is still kind of thick for my size, though. You are wise to get the band now. I had problems with my skin after my weight loss. My skin suddenly looked old. This was a drag!

    Would you be angry?

Grace is right. You should feel free to "out" this clinic to LBT for afterall this is a support group for the weight loss gang and all info is GOOD info, I think. And you must remember that the customer does have her rights, too.

    Letting go of anger

I have suffered from anger issues throughout my entire life. My parents claimed that my first word was not mama nor papa but no! The way I now see it is that this issue of anger is a complicated one. Rage will likely have a big bunch of its root causes in the array of frustrations which we all have come to experience while quietly attempting to live our lives. Many of these frustrations will inevitably be encountered whenever we find ourselves colliding against our fellow humans. Clever and well organised people will never, ever be able to feel anything less than irritation when dealing with those folks who have fewer smarts, lousy organizational skills, and offensive interpersonal social skills. Folks like myself sure do grow quickly frustrated with idiots/slow pokes. It is, however, important to understand that those folks who work in low paying service industry jobs - and they are often the most irritating, eh - are either none too capable or are possibly bitter about the disrespect with which they have been treated by previous customers. This means that you will reap the attitude. The second issue to do with anger and its management is personal to the individual who is experiencing the anger. It has to do with the owner of the anger and no one else. I myself have always been an angry person and this is being treated through a combination of anti-depressants (I am also someone who suffers from major depression) and talk therapy. It is true that once my depression is under control I am much calmer in my own mind (less self-destructive, that is) and therefore I am much more capable of distancing myself from those knee-jerk responses to my destructive emotions. In my particular case rage would be the biggie.
  6. As soon as I hear someone calling me Mrs Green and asking me how I am I immediately ask them what they are selling. This ruptures their line of patter. Then I tell them that I am not interested thank you very much and hang up. Sometimes I can hear them still talking, trying to get that second no as I am hanging up. In the evening I like to watch TV. This is when I vet all incoming phone calls. I let the answering machine take them. I hate telemarketers.
  7. With all due respect, Gadget, societal attitudes towards girls are, in those societies of which we were speaking, an entirely separate issue from that of freedom of choice. Fewer of the family resources are spent on girls. They are much less likely to receive much if any formal education and they are much more likely to be overworked and maltreated psychologically, sexually, and physically. They are more likely to be forced into prostitution or forced into concubinage or marriage with elderly and unattractive mates. And when they are maltreated they are entirely without recourse for the legal (i.e. Shari'a) and local social justice structures favour men.

    Would you be angry?

Bummer. The place I went to, The Toronto Laparascopic Band Centre, charged me $16,000 Cdn for the band, the surgery and a lifetime of free aftercare. So far I have had 5 fills, 2 defills, and been examined for a possible slip - all at no cost to me. They also operate an on-going in-house support programme for their band graduates. This is to help us stay on track with our weight loss programme.

    What do you think???

I, too, figure that the other mother was behaving like a spoiled bitch. You both had equal rights in terms of need to use the family changing room. But your family arrived there first and therefore had first rights to use the room. If her child was in dire need of the toilet and she had asked me very nicely then I would have let her go ahead of me but autism accompanied by rudeness are not satisfactory reasons to cede one's turn at the family facilities.
  15. You are my hero. I am one of those individuals who is perpetually in a great flap, rushing around at the last minute.... And unfortunately I live with a man who is built the same way. This serves to compound the problem. This is not something of which I am proud.
  16. The current situation in China is a case of social engineering gone badly awry. That is for sure. There are many millions of young men in China today who will never find wives and have families simply because there are not enough young women to go around. I have read that there are packs of unattached men in the villages who suffer from a sense of aimlessness and who spend their days drinking, gambling, and fighting. This is a problem which arises out of a devaluation of women, a problem in many cultures.

    You look great! Congratulations, eh!
  19. Of the Repo offerings, I did favour Mitt Romney. I thought that he would have done a fine job. He seems intelligent, well-educated, and thoughtful. That he is physically attractive is a bonus. It is too bad that he is out of the race.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Your poor mum! She must be feeling humiliated about being made to wear and use a diaper. Peaches, this is a nasty situation. I do like Betseyjane's advice. Can she walk around with a portable oxygen tank?
  21. I guess it is one way to see the world, eh.
  22. The issue of whether a woman will come to physical harm during childbirth or not is irrelevant to this conversation. My comments were in the way of musing on this issue of childbirth. The issue is whether the state has the right to force a woman to bear a child. The issue is the fact that sometimes women do unwillingly become pregnant. What are women's rights? Should they be forced to be sexually abstinent until they are prepared to have children? Well, the best way to ensure that is to entirely separate women from men. Maybe the traditional practices of Islam and of the Hasidim should become general practices in America, eh? Should women who do find themselves unwillingly pregnant be forced to suffer the consequences? Should they be punished for their sexuality? Remember that it only takes one brief sexual encounter for a woman to find herself trapped by an unwanted pregnancy. Pregnancy can and does happen to good girls and to responsible women. It is not simply due payback for behaving like a slut. No woman should be forced to go through an unwanted pregnancy.
  23. I'm here. Just reading and loitering......
  24. As for me, if I were a young woman today I would still have the same problem. I would still be unable to arrange for my permanent sterilization.
