LOL, I see that Mac has posted the same video. Don't bother watching mine. It will just be an instant rerun.

I don't wish to believe in a punitive God, one who is so powerless, that He must punish folks for not choosing to believe in Him.

I got a kick out of this. Sorry if I am starting to harp on a theme here! "There is a foolish corner in the brain of the wisest man." - Aristotle This video, forwarded to me from a fellow atheist, just about says it all, as far as I am concerned.

Harrumph! This will ensure his future ratings, eh?

I have read the Bible and I have found zero commentary to indicate that foetuses are "ensouled" at the moment of conception. This fantasy would indicate that the squeamish do require an argument to control the sexual activities of women; this stinks of gynophobia. -

My brother, the doctor thinks that those who provide abortions are women's best friends. I am inclined to agree. -
Well, we just got the news. Four more of our troops were killed in a roadside bomb in Afghanistan. The newspapers run their photos, you know, and a brief profile of these soldiers. I am always heartbroken by this slaughter. This makes for a total of 116 deaths in this country, and if your population is as tiny as ours is, it is easy to internalize each and everyone of these fatalities.

Breastfeeding in public:

As a Canadian, I have found the debate that occurred here characteristic of Pattygreen's style. Pattygreen is obviously not well travelled; she is unaware of other countries, other customs. And she is very judgemental, I find. -
Bwahaha. I used to expect them to put out on the first date so that I could know whether it was worth going on a second with them. Time is scarce, ya know.

Ha ha, more like an exercise ball, eh.

Should people barely over 200 lbs or below 200 get Lapband or any WLS...?

That approach works for me; it is pro-active instead of being merely reactive. I was proactive, too. I weighed in at 195 and I paid to have the band installed; this has been a largely positive experience. I was able to overcome the gluttony which kept me married to my plate. And to take the time away from this in order to do some research as to what would make for healthy little snacks for someone who despised cooking. lol -
Interesting post. It is now the position of the Canadian Prime Minister, and he has promised to keep our troops in Afghanistan until 2011, that this is a war of attrition, that no one can win. Historically speaking, the Russians who have more of an appetite for behaving inhumanely than we in the west do, lost the war in Afghanistan and were forced to leave with their tails between their legs in the late 1980s. It was an expensive war, both in manpower and machinery for the Russians. The British, at the time of the British Raj - the British occupation of India - entered Afghanistan and were unsuccessful. According to my reading on this very complex subject, the Afghanistanis do not understand the notion of democracy as it is entrenched in the west. We tend to take this for granted. They, on the other hand, are hung up with tribal loyalties, and loyalty to the extended family - not to mention divisions within Islam, the religion, itself. You may not be aware of this but Islam is not one uniform religion: it has many divisions - try to think of the strong divisions within the Christian church: Baptists, Anabaptists, Catholics, Episcopalians. It is simply impossible gaining consensus amongst these believers. History teaches us a dire lesson: Afghanistan is a war which cannot be won. This will be an expensive engagement both in manpower and in taxes. And, too, this war is not only being fought in Afghanistan, it is also being fought on forbidden ground, the territory of Pakistan, our ally and an Islam state. The Taliban hop across the border in order to refuel, as it were. As long as the United States cannot go there, this war is and will be lost. Beheadings and other terrorist brutalities will happen. As a woman, I do feel sorry for the life of the women under the Taliban. But, realistically speaking, this is not our war.

The Canadian politicians routinely appear on Canuck TV satire shows. To tell you the truth, it gives me the warm and fuzzzies seeing them there. I can understand where you are coming from, though. It is akin to seeing the Pope doing a guest appearance on Conan - now, that is something I would love to see.

The revenge of the teenagers.... I remember saying to my ma and dad that I didn't ask to be born. My poor mum, she suffered a prolapsed uterus and a ruined figure thanks to her ungrateful brats. Seems like the next bit of cosmetic surgery Octotwat is gonna want to indulge in is a TT. Her gut must be like an apron from housing those 8 foetuses.

A nice comment, Jack, this is all theatre of the absurd or of cruelty according to Antonin Artaud.

You have a tender heart, Plain, that dude is collecting big bucks from the taxpayer, you wanna bet.

Nice post, BJean. -
Pattygreen, it is unlikely that folks here don't like you because you are a Christian; afterall, the vast majority of Americans are.... They simply don't like you because you are a know-it-all and pompass/pompous to boot. In brief, it is the attitude which you persist in displaying that turns folks here off your message. McLuhan once said that that "the medium was the message," and you, my dear woman, have failed utterly in getting your Christ's message across.

Dr. Phil mentioned on his show that some children are born with a job and your post indicates that these children, the octotwat's kiddies have theirs, they are to be her ego gratification and her route to wealth and attention that she feels that she so sadly feels is lacking in her own life. Of course her current crop of children will be feeling the stress of being eclipsed by their younger sibs and envious - this will be a natural enough feeling and they will be candidates for the shrink's couch. Dr. Phil may expect a new crop of invitees on his show in a few years, eh? The insanity sure will continue. I don't hold a lot of hope for this situation. Octotwat has engineered it all through her own hubris. We shouldn't be required to approve of this. The stories of hardship which the other mums have posted here are saddening and it is easy to harbour bitter feelings towards Octotwat, a woman (in this lousy economy) whom seems determined to get something for nothing.

Pattygreen's beliefs are largely irrelevant to everyone but her; I don't believe that she has figured this out, however, as she persists in bludgeoning us with these largely unwelcome posts. -

I didn't see Religulous, the movie made by Bill Maher. I want to, though. I figure that it will amuse...... -

Yep, I am not Christian. I was lucky, I guess, in that I was raised by a bunch of atheists. It is true that they did send me away to a boarding school run by a bunch of Christians and that was a very nasty shock for me. I briefly "got" religion and "got" my revenge on my parents for my exile for coming home and, like the good Battygreen, tormenting my folks with my saintliness. lol
