    Intimacy

Lots of women cannot have orgasms through vaginal sex. I have not only read this but I have had girlfriends which have told me that this is true for them. (Decades ago I used to belong to The Sunday Afternoon Ladies' Champagne Drinking Club - except none of us had the money to blow on the real stuff and so we drank champagne-style wine instead) and a lot of intimate details emerged while we were all guzzling and bonding. It seems that women tend to fall into a variety of categories when it comes to sex and the big O. Some only get it through the stimulation of their external organs and so they are crazy about oral sex and manual stimulation. Others need penetration and quite a few women never have orgasms or experience them rarely. This is what I have learned through reading about female sexuality and this is also what my soused friends have told me over the years. And, by the way, lots of women prefer to masturbate for any number of reasons. My own sex drive is seriously ruined because of the meds that I am on. But I used to be someone who needed penetration in order to have a good time. I was a complete failure at masturbation, as was my mum (we once had a masturbation talk lol), and while I quite liked oral sex this counted as foreplay, not the main course, and I would become quite frustrated if the guy began spending too much time down there. And grabbing them by the hair to make them stop only worked if they weren't bald......!
  3. This comment assumes that there is a God, and that if there is a Divinity, He is the Christian one. Not everyone is on the same page on this question.
  4. Hah! You know what, BJean? I think that you might be right! Although there is not much public pissing going on in Toronto. We are still informed by the Anglo-Saxon sensibility on that score. Green sez thank you for your observations. (This is a little off topic but the French are quite casual about pissing in public. This was part of my culture shock when I first started living there and all foreigners who came from over here or from the northern European countries were affected in much the same way. )

    Intimacy

Sister Lizrbit, naked is so GOOD! And I am so glad that you are in the groove. Sometimes when I am up north I go swimming naked. This is wonderful. And ladies, I should tell you that one of my very best real friends is my ex-husband's wife. He introduced me to her a couple of decades ago and we clicked. Sadly, he died of cancer 3 years ago and she has had a bad time of it. Now she has had a sexual reawakening with a guy who is in his 40s and she has just turned 60. Although this is in the way of a fling she has been completely rejuvenated. She looks wonderful and she is full of energy and self-confidence. And other men are starting to sit up and take notice of her. She has a guy who is in his 30s who is now breathing down her neck. She is sending out waves of sexual energy. (Green remembers those turbulent days, but she has been settled down for over 20 years now. *sigh*) I remember those fabulous years. They sure were exciting and I am happy for my friend for she spent a few hard years grieving the lost of her mate. There is a little part of me which is not jealous but wistful; the greater part of me is thankful that I am where I am and that I have my very fine mate and which would be frightened to open the door to all of that. I love my peaceful life and I love my husband. Still, it is fascinating to watch that kind of crazy sexual energy. It brings back memories of certain periods of my own life and I find this fascinating. We old farts have a tendency to think that this only belongs to the young. Looks like it doesn't and that is cool, too.:biggrin1:
  6. Now with respect the above statement, TommyO, I am inclined to disagree with you. While we would all like to think of ourselves as being unique we are human beings and we do share characteristics and we do tend to fit into certain profiles. This is what the soft sciences are all about - psychology, sociology, anthropology, and social anthropology - the study of our behaviour patterns, as a species, as a collection of cultures, and as individuals. These are the areas of research which seek to examine the communalities between us, the communalities and the differences. (As you know, we Canucks are very different from our American cousins in a number of significant areas.) Fuel Man has made some very interesting comments about the interplay of an array of dysfunctional behaviours and what he sees as the general sense of personal anxiety/vulnerability/alienation/fear prevalent in American society today. This he views as being due to a government which panders to the rich and yet maintains its voter base through instilling paranoia in the very citizens whom it is not serving. The working class and the middle class are floundering financially/psychologically in the new America. The new sense of survivalism on the mean streets and the concommitant paranoia creates a dysfunctional environment. People stress out and behave badly. At least that is my interpretation of Fuel Man's assessment of the situation. And I don't figure that he wants abortion to be criminalized. He is more concerned with the underlying causes of these unwanted pregnancies, something that he views as an indicator of the dysfunction of his society. The way I read it he figures that if women and girls had more self-love and self-respect they would be less likely to be engineered into situations where they found themselves pregnant in the first place. Girls who are not treated well by the men around them and who receive negative messages from society are not likely to feel any self-love or self-respect of course. They will feel less comfortable about taking control of their own lives. It can be argued that men, too, may find themselves so challenged by the demands of this society that they have little kindness or love left to give and so will treat women badly. As for the one size fits all business, it is true that when a society is healthy, well-educated, and productive the array of dysfunctional behaviours plummets. As you know from where you and I live, TommyO, (the Toronto-Oakville area) the rate of obesity, teenage pregnancies, street violence, and dysfunctional (as contrasted with controlled, recreational, eh ) drug use is very low compared to that of most American cities.

  9. After the last election they kinda did: Jesusland map - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I was amused by the United States of Canada but you will also see Jesusland. The commentary is quite amusing. Mexico City is referred to as The People's Republic of Mexico City. Enjoy.

    Any Pets?

Hell, no! You don't even need a visa to come to Canada!! Welcome to/bienvenue au Canada, eh. All the cats which my husband and I have taken in over the years have been adults. Two of them have been strays and the rest of them have belonged to people who didn't want them any more. :help: If they are not already neutered we get them fixed up and because we live in the city we have had to institute a policy of keeping them inside after a few serious incidents. One animal was hit by a car and lived but it was a very serious business. Two others got into brawls with other animals, developed abcesses and almost died before we knew that they were sick. Fur covers teeth marks, eh.:tired My husband would love to have a dog or dogs but we do live in the city and cats are easier to look after and I have allergies. If we lived in the country we would certainly have at least one dog and this would be an rescued adult dog, not a cute puppy. Like yourself, we have strong feelings about giving a home to those animals which are generally considered to be less marketable. And we are always disgusted by those people who treat their fellow living creatures like designer shoes and chuck them when they are no longer fashionable, cute, or young, as is the case of that family who abandoned their mature dog in order to get themselves a new puppy. I think that that is a bluddy nasty way to treat a member of the family, a loyal and a loving member of the family. Keep on doing what you are doing and spread the word! You have Green's props.

Is yours a picky eater? Mine is like my cat. He will eat anything. (Thank Gawd!)
  12. Sounds like you are having fun with your new band, Senor Yoda.
  13. Oh, straight men and homophobia! It is a weird and powerful thing. I remember talking to this very unattractive guy while I was still in university and he started rabbitting on about how he wouldn't like to be around gay men for fear that they would hit on him.:phanvan I wanted to say to him, "look, you're ugly and you're boring. What makes you think that anyone is gonna hit on you? Of course I didn't. I explained that gay men showed the same kind of courtesy and restraint as straight men and that he was being homophobic." I have always hung with gay friends and so any men with whom I have had romantic relationships have ended up by getting over any initial homophobia which they may have had. My husband marched in a Pride parade a few years ago and then went to his macho workplace - he builds aircraft and works on the floor - and told the guys about it. The legitimacy of common-law unions have been recognised up here in Canada for a long, long time. Sometime ago a few long term gay couples challenged and won recognition for the legitimacy of their common-law unions. This meant that same-sex couples had the right to survivor benefits, and to company family benefits such as dental, insurance, and drug plans. These rights were recognised a few years before the issue of same-sex marriage was introduced into public debate. As seems to be happening in the States, some provinces legalised same-sex marriage before it became a federal initiative but once these provinces had given their approval to same-sex marriage the feds quickly devised a bill. At the time there was considerable public debate. Some folks claimed that this would "ruin" marriage for the rest of us. I never did understand the logic behind that argument. Now that the bill is law the formerly contentious issue is a non-issue for most Canadians. I don't know what our military thinks of homosexual soldiers, though.

    Sacrifice to Band God

I am having a hard time letting some of my clothes go. :phanvan I feel comfortable in loose clothing and some of my summer clothes are made out of linen, my favorite summer fabric. The trouble is that I have to keep hitching up the bottoms. I can now pull them off without undoing them. I am thinking elastic, lots of elastic! Yep, I'm gonna sew elastic in the waistbands of all my pants and skirts just as soon as I get my act together.:biggrin1: By the way, I don't have any trouble getting rid of the big cotton stuff, just the giant linens....:tired

    What was the last straw?

Gaining weight, not liking this one bit, and knowing that I was going to keep on gaining if I didn't do something drastic. :help: One girlfriend suggested work-outs with a trainer, I thought of serious lipo, another girlfriend told me about the band, and the rest is history. :biggrin1:

Sleeping naked sounds like great advice, lizrbit. You never know what might pop up. And it can help you get back in touch with your own skin.

    Oldtimers thread

I believe the coasts of Canada are more temperate. It is central Canada which is hot and humid in the summer time. Although around last August 5th I was in Halifax, Nova Scotia - the Atlantic coast - for my nephew's wedding and it was both hot and humid the entire time I was out there except for one icy and rainy day. I had left Toronto where the temperatures were in the high 90s and was awful happy, figuring that I would get away from the heat. This was not the case. :phanvan
  21. green

    Well, that's just irritating.

Now that's what I would call an aggressive-aggressive (fergit the the passive part!) PB! :faint:ROFLMFAO
  22. green

    Well, that's just irritating.

One of my friends has the habit of saying that while you can choose your friends your family is a curse sent to you by God.:phanvan I have always appreciated his comment. Too bad that you are not more assertive in person for you are such a fine dragon-slayer on-line! Nevertheless, you will soon be banded and this will be a fine thing indeed. And you will then be able to PB on your worst relatives. :faint: In the meantime, look forward to the experience.......:girl_hug: And start picking out which relatives you want to treat to a PB experience ASAP.:target:
  23. This is a pretty good idea and won't be as expensive as it would be south of the border for we have universal health care and even our ivy league universities are funded, in part, provincially through the contributions of the taxpayers. Only those students who are here on foreign student visas get smacked with the full costs of university tuition. Landed immigrants and Canadian citizens pay part of the freight, and the rest is on the taxpayers' dime. But to put the numbers in proportion, the entire population of Alberta was, the last time I looked, roughly the same number of inhabitants as we have in the Greater Toronto Area and not everyone of these individuals carries a "Jesus bat," to use the colourful phrase of Fuel Man.:girl_hug:

    Jealousy

This is a sad story, girl, and a completely understandable one. But please don't beat yourself up. You already have the hardware and you can get yourself back into the saddle and do it again. I myself am a depressive. This has been part of my genetic inheritance and I have been battling this throughout my life. You have my sympathy and my respect. As for your stepdaughter, the girl is a bitch and will destroy you if she can. Pay no attention to her.

    Money Talks.......

I believe that you are right. There were the it girls and, yes, the spoiled naughty society brats of industrial barons (in America) and of nobility (in Europe). These were the young women whose activities made the society pages and the gossip columns.
