  1. You are still very swollen from surgery. Take care, don't over drink or try to eat. You will experience many great and not so great things for awhile. Just be good to your band and yourself. Don't try to overdo anything, right now! You just had major surgery 2 days ago! Best wishes, Karen

    Stupid!

Once again, I am agreeing with Sojourner! Try staying with liquids today. I have had that happen. Be good to yourself, and band! Best wishes. Karen

    Dumping?

I agree with Sojourner. My son has celiac disease and will get like that if he has foods that have wheat or gluten in them But, since it happened with milk product, you might have developed an allergy to them, or perhaps as was said you have developed irritable bowel syndrome. Goodluck, if you experience that problem again, see your surgeon's office. Karen

    Hit A Plateau...

Couldn't have said it better than tmf!

    Hit A Plateau...

5 lbs is pretty normal after awhile. You are getting toward a normal weight now, so lbs drops off slower. When your body is not used to losing weight, it seems to lose quicker. Being patient for the weight loss is difficult, I know, but it will happen, just not as much and as quickly as before! Best wishes, and try what Mis73 suggested! Karen
  6. Good job. You look real good, keep on going, you can do it! Karen

    Not New To This...

Sometimes are bands will act strangely. I agree, see your surgeon, you may have had a slip. Sounds like slider foods are okay with you, for awhile. Maybe you have a gall bladder problem, if you still have yours. I have read(not from my personal experience), that after a great weight loss, gall bladders act up. if yours is, hat would be the reason for the discomfort after eating greasy food. Ay any rate, call your surgeon's ofc, ASAP. Best wishes, Karen

    61 And Just Beginning

Dear timeformyself, you can do it too! It isn't as easy as falling off a log, or having gastric bypass. You have to work at lit. But, when you do, you make a commitment to yourself that you are doing it. I, always, would start diets with good intentions, and then fail because I got bored. If that happens with lapband, your band should stop a total failure. I originally wrote will, but then realized that folks have eaten around their bands to cause themselves to fail. Best wishes to you. and keep in touch! Karen

    Where are all the seniors?

Well, you are in pre-op, so you should be okay. Have you had your pre-surgery dieting yet? Most of us have to go through a 2 week liquid diet to shrink the liver. Best wishes to you. I come on here to check it out every now and then. But, usually the last message is from me! Karen

    Where are all the seniors?

Best wishes to you Carrie. We all have been there. I did not have all your problems, but I had many. I am currently drug free, except for a few vitamins. I was taking about 5 a day, and my blood pressure I was taking a 20 mil pill. It isn't a miracle cure. It took about 2 years for me to come completely off my blood pressure meds. IT IS WORTH IT!!!Good luck, and join us on other groups, too! Karen

    Before & Almost After Pics

    You are beautiful, congratulations.Karen
  14. I went out to eat on Saturday night after a real long day. We went Grillsmith. I am not sure if this is a nationwide restaurant or not, but wanted to mention it, anyway. They now have at least 10 menu entrees and appetizers that come in "small plate". That firstly reduces size into about 1/2, but also, the price. It was a great option for us, as both my son and I have lapbands and wanted different selections. Small plate was exactly right for us both. Hurray for Grillsmith!!! Karen

    Can Anyone Handle Steak?

No steak for me. But, my husband made a stew using steak in the pressure cooker yesterday, and I enjoyed a lot. I mostly eat fish or chicken, tho'. Karen
  16. I am, also, one that had a revision after a slip. I agree that restriction is different this time around. It is not something that I can't explain. I am at the total that my surgeon will fill for me. He said otherwise I will be too tight, I am only at 5 cc. It seems that everything I do now has to be me and my new way of eating. Boo to that!!! best wishes, no advice just a hug, (((())))!!!Karen

    Help! Am I "stuck"?????

I took a cruise last November. i had no trouble, because I knew where to draw the line. Remember your rules! As far as vomiting, I have heard(not sure where) that we can no longer do regular vomiting. We can pb but once the food has passed through to the stomach, it can't pass back the other way, when you are banded.(???) I am not sure about that, tho'. My surgeon has suggested that if you are aware of flu bug around, such as teachers, you have fluid taken out. Best wishes to all. Karen
  18. It is possible. There are some younger ladies than I who have gone below 8. 8 was my goal, I am now 10 because I have gained some back. Have a closet full of 8's waiting for me to lose my extra weight again. my surgeon is happy with the way I look, I am not. But, back to your question, yes it is possible to go to 8 or lower! Best wishes.Karen
  19. Y You need to not have the water available to you when you are eating. It is not easy to get used to. My son-in-law always has to have water with is meal. Just don't order it if you are out, and don't provide it when you are home! It is a habit, just liek the habit of drinking while eating. Karen

Finally, Got Stuck And So Happy!

I am sorry that I may have hurt some feelings. But, I know there are trolls on all forums. I just know that my body would have reacted a whole lot different if I am stuck and in the car. Most of the time, you can not control a pb, and washing it down does little good. It will come up of its own accord, believe me!!!!Best wishes, as I said before. Karen

2Nd Fill And Already Too Tight!!!!!

Best wishes, it is hard to believe that you are at maximum and still hungry! It sounds like you are dealing with a lot of head hunger. Don't feel bad, me too and I am 2 1/2 years out. Just learn what is head hunger and real hunger. My surgeon insists I can't feel hunger pains???I think I can! But, I am also, at max and he will not fill me further. Make good choices for your meals and snacks. But, if you are too tight, (some people like that, not me), you can end up eating around your band. Met someone the other day that I told I had the band, she asked how that worked for me, I told her I lost 100 lbs, and she said her friend was eating around her band and has not lost weight. Best wishes, Karen
  22. Listen to Floridays, she has lost 208 lbs and is now on maintenance. If you think losing is hard, try to maintain. You have to get your body to either not lose anymore or to not gain! It is tough. But, if she can lose the weight, so can you. You have to stop eating fried chicken, ribs, etc. Most people can't stop at 1 piece of either. After awhile, you can add 1 piece to your meal, but your eyes have to learn what a portion is. Try using a sectioned plate you can find them online. I use a salad size plate and have since my 6 month pre-surgery diet. Best wishes. Karen
  23. Yes, take some Gas-x or other gas reliever. You may want to walk to relieve the pain, too. Best wishes, it all passes eventually. Karen

Are There Spammers On This Site??

Yes, you have to be aware of stories that just don't sound right! There are people that get a kick out of scaring people. Best wishes. Karen

Finally, Got Stuck And So Happy!

Should have guessed that this was a fake because if you are really stuck and driving 70 miles per hour, you will not be able to stop the slime and upchucking!!!!You may be faking but if not you are not doing yourself any good by eating breakfast tacos in the car and drinking a Snapple! Best wishes for your future, tho'!!!!
