Liz,thank you for joining us. I agree that many people go into this with there eyes shut. But as Dennis and others have said, many of us have had to go through nutritionists, psychs , and 6 month diets. This is the last resort for most of us. I, like others, have gone through diets for 50 years. I started in high school because I was slightly overweight and never felt "pretty enough". Finally at 61, wearing a tight 22w, I felt called to the lapband surgery. Thanks. I love it, and have also, had to learn to eat small meals, and quit before I think I am done, knowing that the last bite will be too much. I guess the "skinny" people just naturally do that. Maybe someday, you and the rest of us will learn it , too! Best wishes. Karen

My First Fill Was Today And My Stomach Is A Little Confused
kll724 replied to Nayelli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The point is not full or hungry, but satisfied. Most of us are usually so used to the hungry or full. Not many are used to satisfied. I think that you are now at "satisfied" feeling. It is different, I guess its what skinny people feel when they stop eating. It takes awhile to learn that. If you don't. however, you will continue to eat until you are nto comfortable, and maybe PB. Try to stop at satisfied! Best wishes, Karen -
Banded Yesterday And Straving
kll724 replied to onexl85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HEAD HUNGER!!!!You are swollen, you shouldn't need food for a day or 2, just stay hydrated and follow your own surgeon's orders. Mine kept me on clear liquids for the 1st week. -
My First Fill Was Today And My Stomach Is A Little Confused
kll724 replied to Nayelli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, remember you are swollen, so you might stick to liquids, today, at least. It has been 2 1/2 years, so can't say how it was, but I had to stick to clear liquids for 2 and full liquids for 2 days. Best of luck, Karen -
You can do it! Best wishes for a great operation an speedy recovery. Karen

My surgeon's office recommends 2 days clear liquids and 2 days full liquids due to swelling after a fill. Perhaps you are too swollen to eat, you might bet oo tight, but this should get you okay 'til Friday. Best wishes, Karen

Yes, this is so true. They all think that we had gastric bypass and should lose all the weight automatically. It, as you know, is not that way. It is almost a good reason to not tell everyone that you have had lapband surgery, right away. People who mattered knew in my case, others did not need to know! Best wishes. Karen

Green zone is different for many people. If, you can be satisfied with your 3-4 oz of protein, do not get PBs, and are not hungry between meals for 3-4 hours, then you probably have gotten to green. Best wishes,Karen

Is This Normal Or Okay?
kll724 replied to GeorgiaGirlie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your surgeon's office gave you the okay for solid foods, it is okay! My surgeon's office kept me and his patients on liquids for weeks afterward. I was not allowed to go to the menu you have taken upon yourself to eat until about 4 weeks after my surgery. Sorry, I personally, can not condone this menu. Best wishes, try following your surgeon's orders! Karen -
congrats, Carrie, and welcome to your new life! I remember the "full liquids" diet.

Welcome Nette Fosters, you should be proud of yourself! You have done well over 10 years. You are able to control yourself and have started back down the hill. so best wishes, and good luck. Great story, too! Karen

Listen to Jean, she is the guru!!Restriction is not going to stop you from eating. It is an elusive thing. It might just be, I am not hungry after eating my 4 oz of meat, and 1/2 cup veggies. It might be a little hiccup, or burp. Or it might just be that you are not hungry for 3-4 hours after eating your meal. It is not going to be a big stop sign, if it is, you are TOO tight!!!!Best wishes and good luck for your own restriction. Karen

I am so sorry to hear about your problems. I was nearly that bad back a year ago. I was not too tight, I had a slip. After removal of all my fill, the lapband did not go back into place,(which sometimes they do). I had to have a revision in October, a year ago. I am better now, but do not want to go thru that again. My biggest problem is, that I had gained a little weight, and can't get further fill, I am at 5 cc, and any thing more, is too tight for me! Good luck and bless you both. Karen

Hiya All! New To The Forums :)

Welcome destnynee1, best wishes on your journey. You are close to starting a new ay of life! This is a great place to be for help! Karen -
Yours is the prime reason my surgeon wants clear liquids for 2 days and then full liquids for 2 days. Your body will be swollen from the foods so soon after a fill. How are you now? After reading further, it sounds like your are doing better. Did you get any taken out on Friday? I stay away from ERs unless my surgeon has told me to go to one. Some, like one nearest his office, are not equipped to do anything. The one he hospital he goes to, which is 6 miles form his office, has every needed problems. Best wishes to all people having these problems. Karen
