Ok, I am thankful for this site, because it has so many helpful people who encourage everyone. I am thankful for my husband who, also, has stuck by me for 42 1/2 years thru sickness and health. Seemed like a lot more sickness. I am thankful for my children and beautiful grandchildren. I am thankful for all my family and friends. I am thankful that I live in a country that pulls together for folks, in the time of their greatest needs, even if they don't agree with their political stance. Happy Thanksgiving next week to the USA! Karen

I am a little surprised that your surgeon moved you to mushy so fast, too! But, if you mix your protein in the blender, you can make it the consistency of mashed potatoes. Stay away from starches as much as possible. If you are still bloated, you might have moved to the mushy stage too soon. By the way, for you folks still in liquid stage, I had hot and sour soup from my Chinese restaurant. It was excellent and makes the missing food feelings go away. Best wishes, Karen

I agree with Lovethenewme. Make sure that you are eating protein when you eat. If you are not eating enough protein, you will get hungry quicker. But, sometimes you might need a snack, and sounds like you are making the proper choices. As stated by others, make sure that you are getting enough calories, too. I know you won't want to hear this, but it could also be head-hunger. You are so new at this whole process and your head is saying you are hungry, that is why a previous poster said to do something to distract yourself. Drink your water, too! Best wishes, Karen

I am a cheap date since surgery. I can tolerate some white wine. I drink wine if I am having a drink. I did have a nice Amarato on ice a couple weeks back. I am 3 years out, so if you drink, make sure that you are careful of the amounts. My son, who had surgery in Aug 2011, drank for Christmas party last year and got totally blasted on a small amount. Best wishes for the upcoming holidays. Karen

Lap Band Advice? Slipped?
kll724 replied to Liftingchic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Appears that the Frosted Mini Wheats are a a no no for you! Unfortunately, foods are a trial and error. I can not eat them, tried and they did get stuck. I am sure that you are swollen and probably a bit bruised inside. See your surgeon today. He will probably advise warm liquids, slowly. I am advised to do 2 day clear and 2 day full after that type of episode. By the way, I keep coke around for this type of episode. Coke works like a Roto-rooter for me, it wooshes down the stuck item. My son, and daughter(both are lpbnders) say it causes the stuck to come up. You only need about 1-2 oz and I drink it warm. Best wishes, Karen -
Be Honest- Is Banded Life Hard?
kll724 replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hah! I just read lassie's remarks. They are so true, except, I love feeling my port. I guess it reminds me of my weight loss. After you have surgery, you do feel the port somewhat, but, as you keep losing, the port becomes more prominent. Mine would actually stick out when I am in the pool. I love my band. It is not always easy. I still, even after 3 years, have occasions of getting stuck, and pb'ing. Usually it is either thinking I want more to eat, or forgetting to chew enough. Smaller plates and smaller forks and protein 1st are my,(and will be your) best friends! Learn to eat off salad plates, and if you go out, share a plate. Even the most expensive restaurants I have gone to, do not mind if two ladies ask to share their meal. I will tell you, from someone who has probably lost and gained 1000 lbs over the years, it has been the best experience at losing weight that I have had. Usually, I get bored with diets, but lapbands are not diets, just an assistance tool. It is there to remind us that we are either in the process of losing weight or maintaining our weight loss. But, if we want, we can get a removal, see Sharon Osborne. Best wishes, I hope that my opinion helps. Karen -
Wow! Are those both pictures of you? If so, you look dramatically different, and great! Congrats on your success! Karen

Anyone Had A Lab Band Slip, then Had It Surgically Fixed?
kll724 replied to gdkeller's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Interesting question! I have gained some weight because I have gotten back into bad habits. I have proper restriction and control when I eat properly. It just I get lazy and sometimes eat slider foods. But, that has nothing to do with my revision. i have great restriction back and am at 5 cc which is all I can tolerate. Karen -

Ugh!!! Weight Gain After 3 Years Banded!!
kll724 replied to talkalot1981's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Me too Talkalot1981! I have had the same problem. I am not sure what to do, either. And my surgeon has said he wants me to gain control of my weight on my own. He knows that I eat sliders, and wants me to stop. I LOVE peanut butter.! I have finally found a dry peanut butter to add to my yogurt to increase my protein and get myself off the regular peanut butter. For some reason, unknown to myself, after a slip and unfill, in my case, a revision, the fills do not affect you the way they originally did. I can't tolerate much more than 5cc, and I am at that now! I know that I am not any help in your problem, but just wanted to sympathize and say, me too! Best wishes, Karen -
I am sorry, Enuff_is_enuff! That was uncalled for!

I Got A Feeling Of I'm Sooo Hungry!!!
kll724 replied to Tiffany3280's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like you have a lot of head hunger. You seemed to have moved through your stages quickly, too. At 2 weeks, I was still in full liquids. Take it easy, try some sugar free pudding, or perhaps Greek yogurt. Good luck, Karen -
Should I Go For A Fill Alone?
kll724 replied to Jlynn217's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Should not be a problem, but if you are dizzy, or something, stay for awhile. I don't think they will chase you out. I have seen a lot of people hang around to make sure the fill is not too much, etc. Good luck, Karen -
I soent the late afternoon and night at Disney World with my adult son, daughter-in-law, and niece. Lots of fun. Shared a mela with my niece. Plenty to eat, ut not too much! Great time had by all. Got home at 12:30, thank God for the fall back, this morning!

Stuck Or Something Else...??
kll724 replied to utcaneuser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Slips are not that common. Believe me, if you had a slip, you would not feel well during the night. Generally, they cause GERD during the night. I was very uncomfortable, and surgeon suggested not eating after 8pm. That did me no good. It doesn't usually come from one stuck, tho' Best wishes,Karen -
My surgeon pulls out everything before refilling anything. Not sure what to tell you. But I agree with cheryl2586, somethings in not right. You, need to take control, too! Best wishes,Karen

No gulping!!!Sips are the thing. That is one of the 1st things I was told even before surgery. Good luck.Karen

((((hugs))), good for your doctor to find the problem, now to get it fixed!!!Best wishes!Karen

Light Headed At Walmart!
kll724 replied to vmarlau's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
May I add, your blood pressure/blood sugar probably dropped too low. If you take pressure pills, get your pressure checked. They made be too strong, now! Best wishes, Karen -
I agree, great NSV! And you do look wonderful!

Welcome Missy1966. I am sorry that you went through the horrors of 3 years and using sliders to eat. I think that the lack of support from Mexican providers is a major drawback. My own surgeon had his lapband done from Dr. Ortiz in Mexico. He did marvelously, but then he is a lapband surgeon trained by Dr. Ortiz. I just had my 3 year bandiversary on Oct 30. I met my 100 lb goal, but have since gained some weight back. You are most welcome to join us, and feel free to jump in and let us know your situation and knowledge. Many people can learn from your problems. Good luck, and congratulations on your new resolve! Karen
