Down 90 Pounds In Almost 8 Months!
kll724 replied to NewMissB's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Look at you! Amazing weight loss. Karen -
Yes, and around day 5 or 6 i felt the shoulder pain. But as others say, it will get better, and, i just want to remind you to walk as much as ossible. It will help with the gas pains, and stomach muscles. Walk upright, try not to slouch. The muscles need to be stretched. Best wishes. Karen

Difficulty Eating And Drinking Water!:(
kll724 replied to dalia93's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the other people. call your doctor. I would never try taking anything like anti-biotics without either crushing them, cutting them in 1/2 or asking for liquids. It does sound like its stuck. You could also try about 1-2 oz of coke, (not diet, don't know why diet doesn't work0 it works lie a rot-trooter, that ,ight help. Don't gulp or drink the whole thing, when I use that I use it not chillded. Best wishes. Karen -
Usually, you will not be able to eat most hings, and it is difficult to even keep liquids down. Mine started with having GERD at night. That lasted several months until it finally was so bad that the surgeon had to go in and reposition my band. He 1st took all fill out, but it didn't go back into place. I don't think it is a common as people think. I can't tolerate much fill, (only 5 cc) and then if I eat the wrong thing, I know it pretty quickly. I hope that answers a few of your questions. Best wishes. Karen

Congratulations on your wedding! I do agree with this! I still use salad forks and dessert plates for all my meals, it has been 3 years from my surgery. Stay on liquids for a few days, my own surgeon says 2 days clear, 2 days full. It is a little extreme, but, you could try that. Make a new committment to yourself to do what is takes to lose the weight! Goodluck, adn keep us informed of your status! Aslo, talk with the office personell, they are, usually, very knowlegaeable, and in my surgeon's office most have had the surgery, including the surgeon. Karen

Wise dr there, Daisychains, (by the way, you look great). As was said by the others, today is another new day. You can recover, you did not get fat from overeating one meal, at least that wasn't the way I was built! Best wishes, you can do it. Look at Floridays, and Daisyhcins, and even myself. We have almost 500 lbs loss together! Good luck, stay focused on the new you! Karen

How Long Does The Surgery Take?
kll724 replied to RichGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon jokes that any surgery lasting longer than 15 mins, he's bored! It would depend on what he finds when he is in there. My surgey was pretty normal, and I would say that with the prep and everything, I was about 3 hrs from prep to waking up. My son, was in surgery, however, for approx 2 hrs, when the surgeon discovered that he had organs moved around due to an accident as a teenager. So, the surgeon fixed his organs. But, he was out of surgery and in recovery and home from the hospital in about 6 hours total. Not sure if that helps. I was trying to say, it depends on what happens when he is doing the surgery! karen -
I keep a dark choclate Hershey bar in the fridge and take a peace to allievate my cravings for chocalte. You just have to be stronger than teh cravings!!Hard to do, but if its in teh cold unit an dout of mind, it isn't as hard. Good luck. Karen

Are There Complications Due To Tummy Tuck Prior To Lap Band?
kll724 replied to Shergirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jealous!!!!My tummy is flabby wish it was taut! -
No hints, other than the ones used for years by WW. Eat something before you go, so that you won't be tempted. But, I eat one bite and then am happy. I stayed away from much of the meal I prepared, tho'. I am 3 years out, and pretty used to the big meals. Head hunger can be your biggest problem, because you think you need something or you will "just die". You will survive! Good luck, and best wishes to survive another day! Karen

I agree with the others who said gas. Take Gas-x strips and walk as much as possible. You don't need to go fast, by the way. If you go outside, take a friend. Good luck and best wishes. Karen

Totally agree, you did not get fat eating at one meal. Just be aware for the next time. Best wishes, Karen -
Sounds like you are a bit too tight! If you were okay before your fil, and this just started, I, if i weer you, would ask my surgeon's office for a slight unfill. Good luck, may want to call today to get in tomorrow before the Holiday

Unexpected NSV is the best. I bet you look great in your new clothes, too! Karen
-
Yeah!!!NSV is the best!!!!

I agree, a .5 cc does make a world of difference. I can't tolerate anything above 5.cc. The surgeon does his own fills, he took me to 5.5, i had to have the .5 cc removed because I could not eat anything. So, beware, it makes a big difference in some people. Karen

Officially A Lap Band Success!
kll724 replied to SageTracey's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yahoo!!! Congrats on the cycling to work. That is great. Best wishes on your continued success! Karen -
Right after surgery this is very common. It usually, quiets down after awhile. But, as Elcee said sometimes it still "talks" to me. I really don't think that the after surgery thing is technically a hunger growl, I think it is just a tummy getting used to being kind of empty. Does that make sense to anyone? Karen
-
I can only tolerate 5 cc in my 10 cc band. I tried 5.5 and it was too much. Good luck, don't get too tight. It is worse than too loose, believe me. Karen
