Florida In January...need 16-18
kll724 replied to jg9956's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Also, if you can, visit Bealls, the Florida Dept store. They will have clearance racks of nice things for very low prices and lots of summer stuff. They keep summer stuff year round for the "Snowbirds". I, almost, shop the clearance racks exclusively, as my husband never saw a sale he didn't like. But, also, visit Goodwill. I had to when I went to the Grand Canyon in May, I did not own a heavy sweater or warm coat. I needed one, and did not mind returning it to Goodwill when it was too big in the winter. Good luck, enjoy your visit to Fort Lauderdale ,Karen -
You look great! congratulations on taking control of your life. Good luck with those last few pounds, they can be elusive. As the commercial says, "Make it a December to remember"! Karen

I would think that it will depend on how long you have been fat. But, when I was in Weight Watchers, there was a young gal who lost 150 lbs in about a year, an dshe did not appear to have excessive skin. I think that you need to follow an exercise routine, too. Best wishes on you weightloss. karen

Alex, very good! I passed it to my son-in-law this evening, that is after I marked all the parts pertaining to myself! He said "that sure is a big book on lapband!"Karen

Just recieved my book. So excited about it! It has so many stories from old "friends" from lapband. I have been perusing it. I am happy to have it, and after reading it. I will pass it on. Thanks Alex and Natalie! It came just in time for Christmas. And today, my son-in-law had lapband surgery, too! Karen

Wow! I would be scared if my surgeon told me I might not be able to swallow my own spit! I get stuck when eating the wrong foods. Steak is one of them. I tried to have my favorite on Thanksgiving, some turkey skin. Don't even try that stuff, you can't digest it! Also, casings for pork sausage is undigestable even if you chew, chew chew your food. These things I found from bad experiences! Bets wishes to all and Rojasnoll, you are a lucky one! Karen

Take care Donna12. Best wishes for your surgery. I can tolerate the crunchy bread from Subway, but like you I eat less than 1/2 of a 6 inch, and only tuna at that! I am glad you enjoyed yourself! Karen

I had my gall bladder removed in 2001. I had lost about 40 lbs in 2000. do you know, that writing this was a ahaw moment forme. I had completely forgotten about the 40 lb loss in 2000. Anyway, it is the most excruiating pain I ever wanted to go through. Good luck, the recovery is not too bad, as long as they remove all the stones! I, also, had lapiscropic surgery, and only have a couple extra small scares. Karen

Cheznoel is so right. The brain will fool you. But, all of a sudden people will notice. Have you bought new clothes? if not, do so, it will make a difference in how you look and how you feel. You can do it, just don't get down on yourself! Best wishes. Karen

My surgeon said he is repairing a infected port for a non-patient, becuae her plastic sugeon didn't know what he was doing. i talked ot him today, I told him how jealous I am about one of his PA's and he said she is 1/2 your age. but, I am still jealous of her flat tummy. Stuck, Slipped, Or Normal - Am I Fighting Myself?
kll724 replied to JimR915's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oooh! Sorry that you had to have th eband removed, be careful of weight gain! Just my personal waring. I only had a revision in November of k]last eyar. I am just now starting to lose again since my intial weight gain while empty and it has been a battle of my own wits, not surgeon's. He is satisfied, but I am not. I am back to being overweight! Anyway, glad to hear that you are on the mend. It can happen to anyone, but it is not as common as people on this board seem to think. Mine was my 2nd slip, the 1st one was approxiamtely a year and half before, and it was easily fixed by an unfill for a month. I think the 2nd was because I sick and then let myself get dehydrated. People, take care, call your surgeon even if its Sunday, and don't do what I did, i didn't want to disturb him and flet it coudl wait for Monday! Good luck.Karen -
My surgeon says any unfills are the same rules as a fill. I am not sure what other surgeon's say. I have to follow 2 days clear and 2 days full liquids after both a fill and unfill. I only once did not, thta was when I had not had anything to eat in 3 days and was very sick. Then I sort of rushed thru the directions had clear for a day and full for a couple more. Maybe try to stay on clear until you can call in am to check on further directions. Best wishes. Karen

Hi tonyann, I have a feeling that you are waiting too long before eating your 1st meal of the day, and so your are eating too much. Have something too break your fast after waking. It doesn't have to be much. If you don't have an appetite, try some greek yogurt, as it has more protein than the regular kind. Or, maybe you can have some skinny cow cheese bites. Anything that breaks your fast, so that by brunch you are not starving and either eating too much, or eating too fast. Nausea is not a normal reaction to lapband. Best wihses. Karen

Are you off liquids? If so, you are probably on mushies. So, mush up your protein and eat about 3/4 cup and then have some mushy veggies. If you don't have a blender, maybe biuy one, or try junior babyfoods. As stated before, now, is healing time, weightloss wil happen, now, but slowly until your 1st fill. Take care of yourself, drink your liquids and get your mind off food. Watching TV is bad because, now, is the season of food commercials! I had surgery on Oct 30, 2009. I don't like "Checkers", never have, but those commercials made me drool! Best wishes, and put 1 step in front of the other! Karen

Ive Had 2 Fills And Feel No Different
kll724 replied to Aprilsnewlife's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What do you want to feel? I don't ever want to feel full. Full is not what we are after. Satisfied is what you are trying to acchieve. Satisfed is what will help you lose weight. You have done great so far. This is not a race, but 5 lbs in a month is a lot, I lost 1-2 lbs for the 1st couple months, then wham I didn't notice but the weight started to fall off. Some months are slow, some months better. As long as you can go 3-4 hours without being hungry, you are in the green zone. Best wishes, Karen -
Love you too! And Thanks for the inspirational message. All I can say is Amen to that! Karen

Nothing tastes as good as sweet success, congrats to you! Karen
