  1. I guess that I am the one that said a lot of us have lost 100 lbs and gained it back. Back in the "old" days, I lost using several methods and gained back many times. I used WW, TOPs(take off pound sensibly), pre-digested protein diet, and just starvation as a very young woman. Most of the time, once you stop, you gain back what you lost and then some. i just was saying that with the lapband, unless you eat around your band, it is not as likely that you will gain back what you lost. At least that was my experience.Don't get me wrong, if you have the will power to lose the 100 lbs and keep it off, then you don't need Lapban surgery!!!! Best wishes, Karen PS:Most of us, do not and need the tool(lapband) to help us. PPS: Floridays said she gained it back after the losses. I remember that my Pre-digested protein diet, I couldn't eat anything for awhile.
  2. I agree, Sandy. It has to be right for you. After researching, if it is not, then best wishes on your surccessful weight loss with out lapband. Karen Many of us have lost 100 lbs before, too, and gained it back. That is a good reason for the lapband!!!!

    Fill once a week

I can't remember, but I had restriction at 5.cc. That is my max, and more fill, and I am too tight. I am 3 years out, so I have memory loss. Sorry, CRS* comes with age, too. Karen *(can't remember stuff)

Is This It Or Could I Be Too Tight

Misty, go ak for a slight unfill. You should not live with only drinking liquids. I don't knw if you have followed anu=yones suggeestions yet, but if not you are 10 days of liquids. See your surgeon on MOday. Best wishes, Karen

One Week Ago Today I Was Banded!

Hey folks, its December and we haven't seen much of anyone recenlty. Updates please! I am doing well. It has been amost stressful week and there were times I wanted to crawl into a hole and hybernate for the Winter. I am still gradually losing my extra weight that I put on after my unfill, surgery for my slip and refill. It is difficult to start again. It has been over a year, and I and my surgeon ahd to give myself a wake up call! But, I am back on track. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanakkah and Happy Holidays to all. Karen

    Another Silly Success

My friend, Carolinagirl, that is an awesome NSV. I had that problem before losing 100 lbs, too. I can't remember when I noticed that I could lift my leg to put on my socks. But, it was a darn good feeling!!!Congrats on you weightloss. Karen
  10. Just got my flu shot. The medical people are saying that this sesons flu is a bad one. My pastor just got over it. he was very sick with high fever. please be careful, and if you start vomitting, get a slight unfill to relieve the stress on your body. Best wishes. Karen

Can Feel That Fill Now, Yay

Gald to hear you are doing well, Jacqui! Karen
  12. Smkeller, you sound like you have an axe to grind, don't grind it on the Big Book. I have it, and although I have not read the whole thing, it is very informative and not out of date. If you don't like it here, no one is forcing you to stay. Alex started this site as a help for others and probably to keep himself on track. We are self-help group, but always, advise to seek medical attention. I am not sure where you receive your information. Good luck, to you. karen
  13. You are put completely under and on life support so you have to have a breathing tube. I have no knowledge about insurance and removal, tho'. maybe you need to contact your insurance for that information, or at least the surgeon and hospital. Sorry, I can't advise you on that. Best wishes, Karen
  14. Your story is a lot like mine. ktsped, If you have had a slip, your surgeon can tell by a barium swallow. and you could not have not have survived a month without an unfill. Gaining a little is better than being hopsitalized for dehydration or worse. Mostly, if it is not a severe slip, bands will go back into place with an unfill. best wishes. karen

    Bras

I was wearing Victoria Secret bras because my daughter bought me a couple and I found them exciting to know that I can wear their's now. but, I have noticed that due to the girls having no substance to them, they fell out. So my local dept staore was having a sale and I bought 3 Platex for full figures, and they keep the girls(36d) where they belong.

    Taking Big Drinks

I am like floridays, I can't do a big gulp, it gets stuck and makes me uncomfortable. i don't think that you can damage anything after you have had the band for awhile, but I would not try it too soon after surgery. Sipping is very satisfying for me. Karen

    Question About Fills

Mine too! I don't usually feel anything, sometimes alittle pressure. It is pretty quick, my surgeon will take it out, and measure to make sure there is no leakage. He then might have me put my hand on the needle area while he has me move to the flouroscope. He doesn't always use the flourscope, sometimes he just puts the Fluid in, and then voila you are done! Karen
  21. Bets wishes, since we all have been there, we can give our support. You have to follow the liquid diet tho'. So, stick with it, it gets better. Good luck, and ((((hugs))))! Karen
  22. Welcome back. You have taken a good step by joining us and realizing that you have had aproblem and are trying to get back on track. I had to have revision surgery for a slipped band back in Nov. 2011. It has taken me a year to finally have the scale to decide to go back down. I had gained enough weight that my size 8's did not fit and I had to pull out size 10's. So, we are both in the losing stage again! But, you can do it, just start improving your diet, and tracking your calories. The hardest part is admitting to yourself that you need to take control, again. Best wishes, Karen
  23. I was banded 3 yars ago on Oct 30.

    Threw Up

very unlikely You probably just did a PB(productive burp) because you probably did not even have your food get into your stomach to vomit. Slips come from excessive vomitting . You should be fine, just calm dawnand maybe stay on liquids for the rest of the day. Best wishes.Karen
  25. TMF, congrats on your Bandiversary! You have done amazing, and you have been a wonderful support for everyone. Karen
