Sticking to the liquid amounts listed on my post op instructions
kll724 replied to newfydog's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, so happy that a you had your surgery and are in recovery. Try to stick to your surgeon's guideline. I think its great that you can drink your whole 6 oz at one time.does it take a long time when you sip? I found that I sipped for at least 1/2 hr. I did not really stick to a guideline when on liquids. Pretty much I did a as needed thing. But, if your surgeon wants you on a meal plan, stick to it if you can. AS noted by another person, if you do "chat", use, Water, sunlight, sugar free pop-cycles. Best wishes on your recovery. Karen -
What a terrific program. and maybe, with new nurses and doctors coming up and being better trained in obesity and wls it will influence others too. Congratulations on the program. Karen..aka..kll724

failing pre-op diet
kll724 replied to ddsweighin228's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't be too hard on yourself. But feel good about your pre-op diet. I, and everyone my surgeon see, had to do only liquids for 2 weeks. And then the week before, clear liquids. So, it was liquids in, )and not being to gross), liquids out! You can do it, hang in there and get back in the wagon! Karen..aka..kll724 -
Never be embarrassed to tell your doctor! I sometimes slime and pb, too, especially if my bite is too big, or it is something that I can't digest easily. Be careful to not get a slip.Have you been back recently? If not go, and tell what you are experiencing. Best wishes, Karen..aka.kll724

Good advice from countrysweet, I think the best would be to check with your own surgeon.however. I know that even light work is not cool for a few weeks.I couldn't lift anything more than a gallon of milk the 1st 2 weeks. Best wishes.Karen..aka.kkll724

It sounds like you are on the right track, good for you! -
We do have vegans on this site. Just remember to get your protein whichever way that you currently do. We have a host who doesn't eat meat anylonger, too!I would advise you of his name, but he has taken a sabbatical from the site.

cg that's a lot of steppin'. Too bad you couldn't help their game! personally, I am reading a e-book on my Kindle while I walk on my tread mill for at least an hour each morning. Feels good, 'cause I hate tradmilling!

First fill was intense
kll724 replied to Cassiepants's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope, never had that problem. Sorry to hear you were so uncomfortable. My surgeon never had trbl locating my port, he did, once, have trbl filling me as my port had tilted, but on Tuesday, he said it had gone back into shape. He, always, numbs me at the port before sticking in the needle, too. -
Both shrimp and salad greens are tricky for me.

kll724 replied to ccjll's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Why did your surgeon allow you to leave without making sure that you could drink liquids? I know that sounds harsh, but I also , had a fill on Tuesday. He made sure that I could swallow liquids, he wouldn't put anymore in without me swallowing. I ended up getting .1 cc because anymore was too much for me. Believe it or not, .1 makes a big difference. Please go back and have some removed. You need to drink, don't allow yourself to become dehydrated, you might need intravenous if you do! Best wishes,Karen -
Best wishes!

You are so right! I went to my surgeon because he was a patient 1st! He understands our plight! God bless him and you for being a patient and an advocate, too! Karen

How long before surgeon let you swim/hot tub?
kll724 replied to JustWatchMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think 6 weeks, even if it is your own hot tub/pool it is quite awhile. But, considering it is not your own, it would have to be when your incisions are healed. -
Its pretty normal to have sharp pain after surgery! But, as others have advised you, if you think it is not normal, call your surgeon's office. Best wishes.

Are you kidding me? I think that I would be looking for that trip to Mexico! That is definitely out of sight for your surgery. You should look elsewhere! $35,000 out of pocket is out of this world! Best wishes, Karen
