What do you order at restaurants after weight loss surgery?
kll724 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
BillieG, I haven't had a fill in about 1 1/2 years. I can't tolerate more fill than I have in my band already. I am in maintenance. I don't eat sandwiches like bacon cheesburgers! I usually have fish when going out. I sometimes have chicken, but dry breast are hard for me to eat. You are right about fills and getting used to smaller portions. You have it about right! Once you get to "green" and are eating small amounts, you really don't need fills as much anymore. Best wishes! Karen -

5 Week Post Op... Band Fill Question For The Newbie
kll724 replied to Txpo Chick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! you're doing great! Can't remember 1st fill. But, after each fill, my surgeon requires 2 days clear and 2 days full liquids! I know that is drastic, but did not kill me. The fill is usually just a small needle and my surgeon numbs my port. A lot of people tend to get a great amount of weightloss immediately after their fills. You might feel a bit of restriction, depending on how much a fill you get. Usually you don't get to green immediately, tho'. Best wishes. Karen...aka..kll724 -
Hang in there! you can do it! Your time in hell is almost over! Best wishes!

Why Do I Feel Something Stuck In My Throat?
kll724 replied to vmarlau's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You might need a day or two for your swelling to go down. if, today, you are still having trouble, you might want to call your surgeon's office, don't wait too long. Karen -

When To Get First Fill?
kll724 replied to Missy6966's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Many people don't have to have their 1st fill right away. As B-52 said, if you are losing on your surgeon's schedule, about 1-2 pound a week, then you might not need or want a fill. Make sure that you can find a local fill center, or doctor that will treat you. Many surgeons are willing to take new patients even if they did not do the surgery.Best luck in your after care and surgery. Karen -

Feeling So Discouraged!... And Hungry!
kll724 replied to skinnysomeday1211's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with what the others have said.Bandster hell! It is a time to relearn anything that you have done with eating in the past! Why are you testing your band? Sodas are nono, beer, Pasta, bread, rice? Stay away from those things, think Protein, veggies and then some carbs. But, carbs should be very low on your list of foods to eat. During bandster hell, back in 2009, I was at a pizza party for the grandkids after their Christmas concert. I had 1 piece of pizza, and then my 1st ever sliming and pb'ing started! Not a way to be at the Christmas party. Don't be like me, and I wasn't even trying to test my band! Best wishes!!Karen -

Wls....a Bad Name!
kll724 replied to chasingadream's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are so right, I measure carefully who knows about my wls. Close friends, who I have known for years, know, but new friends mostly do not! I, like you, have heard people who think that wls is the easy way. I have a close friend that has been able to lose her weight on her own. She has many health issues and doctors that have given her no choice in the matter. But, she has done it without wls. Hurray for her, and she is one that knows about my band. However, she knows weightloss is not easy and wls is the answer for many. She would not have survived wls! Best wishes to everyone, Karen -

kll724 replied to Pablo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What kind of pain are you talking about? Is it at the site of teh port, or is it other pain? If it is at the site of the port, it could be just reaction from teh fill. If you are having general pain, you should check with you physican or surgeon. Best wishes, karen -

13 Days Post Op! How Much Can You Eat And Lose ?
kll724 replied to jujusmommy07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! You lost 10 lbs in one week and you are frustrated! Please don't be, now is the time for healing! Many surgeons, mine included, do not allow eating for the 1st 2 weeks, only liquids. Weightlosses vary as much as poeple do! don't judge yourself by others. best wishes, Karen -
