After my fill, I noticed that my port was rounded instead of just flat. I think that is the fill making it so. My port is sometimes noticeable, but it is fine. I did have a ahaha point jus the other day, I was carrying a box, which I used to use my stomach to prop on, well my port is right there, now I have to use my arms for support, an dnot my stomach.

You are on your way to a happier healthy and thinner you. Wait until your 1st trip to shopping that you can pass right by "those" stores and head to the "other" stores. Hurrah!!!
-
Oh yes, still getting my Lane Bryant catalogs, and Catherine's.etc... Those are for the old me. I now just put them into the recycle and canceled my credit card for the store. Yeah! It is great feeling to not have to shop in the Woman's section of the store. You will get there as you loose weight. Sometimes it just comes and you turn around and your pants a dresses are looking and feeling really big. Good luck to us all, and hoping to see less o:thumbup:f us daily!!!!

Oh, I totally agree. I used to have a closet full of clothes. But, those were my fat clothes. My closet is pretty empty, now. But, everything in there fits me, and they are 14 petits. I was in 20/22w before dieting. Last spring when I was on the pre-op diet I bought tight 18w. They are long gone. I still have belly over-hang, so having trbl fitting into jeans in 14's. But been working on the tummy, so soon, I hope. I, now, am becoming a shop-a-holic, much to my husbands chagrin. Haha! I am always dragging him along, because I hate to shop alone. IT Is A great feeling to go down sizes, isn't it?

For the 1st time in a long time I don't have thigh problems. But, I loved the Pareo Sarong ideas. I definitely could see this a a good cover-up for pool side. I have some belly over hang still, I bought a 1 peace suit with a little skirt. Of course, I am almost 62, so I am in the "senior citizen" age. But, my daughter liked it so well, she bought it too!

How do you measure leafy veges?
kll724 replied to Drasan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't, because, I can't eat them. They get stuck on me. I can only eat salad that is finely cut up, such as taco salad from Taco Bell. There's happens to be :wub:the only salad that I can eat, had 1/4 of one tonight. -
I do, I do!! I was fine until the last fill I had. Yogurt was my snack of choice. I have tried it 2x since my fill 2 moths ago, and both times it has come back up. SO, now I stay away from it. I can't eat beef, or pork either. I can eat hamburger with out trouble, tho.

You know what I miss, my favorite veggies. It is so weird. I love snow peas, peas in the shell, asparagus, and I can't eat any of them. Also, string beans and broccoli are not on my diet. I know others can eat these things, I can not.

just banded with a few questions
kll724 replied to misspeacock's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally, I think that walking will help with both problems, especially if Gas-x isn't working for the gas. If you are not walking, you need to get up and walk. They didn't even need to keep those leg things on me, as I took 8 walks around the hospital. They probably got tired of looking for me! I can't say my gas went right away, but it was ok. I, also, had my daughter-in-law give me a massage on my left side neck. A massage might help the gas, too. Good luck! -
Exactly, that is my problem, too. That is what I hope for out of the band. Good luck to both of us.

I, too, voted "yes" with both hands in the air. However, there is a caveat, you definitely have to put work into it. I know some folks have not had to work real hard. But, personally, still get head hunger, even after 6 months of banding, and 6 months of pre-dieting. I have lost and continue to lose. I pray that the weight doesn't come back on when I get bored with dieting. THAT, is why I have the band. It prevents overeating and bad choices. Just last night, I had a hand full of nuts. I guess I didn't chew them well enough, and they got stuck. 'Nuff said, folks with the band know. Good luck with your decision. It is a life changer. Karen

As of this morning............
kll724 replied to Whillow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Woohoo! You are doing great. I am same height and want to be same weight. My doctor says that women of "age" shouldn't go below 28 bmi. I had wanted to go to 140. I am currently at 180 lbs. Most of my weight loss was pre-surgery. I was banded on 10/31/09, I lost only about 26 lbs since then. So, your 50 lbs is GREAT!!!! -
Goal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FANTASTIC! I, also, would like to see pictures. You have done great, I hope my success is similar. You are an inspiration to us all. -
Good for you! I am not ready for biking, as last time I did I got bike, butt. I find the seats uncomfortable. But, since I have lost as much as I have, might have to try it myself. When I do it at the gym on stationary bikes, I still feel uncomfortable.

Lets hear a big, "Amen" to what everyone said! All of the above for me, too. I, also, knew someone who had it done. She was always a real big girl, and had gotten bigger with 2 pregnacies. Well, there she was a size 6 and holding. So, my daughter and I both decided, now is the time. She chickened out for a few months, I was 1st to have the surgery. Now, my fear is, will it stay off. I have been known to go on vac and gain 20 lbs, after 6 months of dieting. Well, my vacation starts in May for a month long journey across the USA. I now have a good support system in my belt restriction and husband. With their support, I should be ok.

I am not sure, but I think that we have someone in their 70's that just had surgery. I don't think that we youngsters in our 60's are near the cut off. I am going to be 62, I had it done in Oct. I feel younger and better than I have in about 25 years!!!!

how soon after being banded to start ab workout?
kll724 replied to L_A_U_R_E_L_I's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I think it was after my 6 week check up. I was able to walk on tread mill but not do other exercise until the nurse assistant released me to do them. She gave me the ok after my stitches healed and my swelling was down. I think it was either 6 weeks or 1 month. Hope you get other responses. -
Oldone, you are in a good group, here. We have at least 2 heroes to look up to! Sandi and Skittles, you both are my heroes! I haven't had the pleasure of being banded for more than 6 months, yet. But, you 2 have had it for years and have continued to both lose your weight. Hurray for you both! Can't wait to have my bandiversary, and then some. best of luck to us all. Karen

Surgeon disappointed in weight loss / Bandsters a Dying Breed?
kll724 replied to A New Woman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, you look great. 52 lbs in one year is good, that is an average of 1 lb a week. My doctor is telling me that my 32 bmi is getting near to goal as he doesn't think woman of my age, 61, should be lower than 28 bmi. We look unhealthy! I am in a size 14, I would guess that you are that or near it. You look like and sound like you are on the right path. Boo! to your doctor. -
Well a little update, I just got back from the Dr. I lost 10 lbs this month. Whoohoo for me! He asked if I felt ok. I said I feel great, but it took 2 weeks after the fill for me to realize what I can/cannot eat. So, he said I am at 32 bmi and he would talk to me about where we go from here when I get to 28 bmi. I said I will see him in April, but will be on vacation in May. So I will talk to him in June about where we go from here. :cursing:

I was about 40 and had used slimfast for several months. I kept my weight off for a few years, but as someone else said, menopause snuck up on me. -
Diet History not good enough?
kll724 replied to amey_idaho's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you'll be fine. I agree, my insurance company required a visit with a Nutritionist, weight loss failures, and 6 month Dr controlled dieting. But I was approved and had my surgery in Oct. You will be fine. Good luck on your journey.
