We had a fairly quiet July 4th weekend. It rained all weekend long, here in Florida. We bought a new pantry cabinet. It was unstained wood. My husband stained it; we moved it into the kitchen; and I loaded it with canned goods. It made a great difference in my kitchen. On Sunday, we had church, and then in the afternoon, we went to an amusement park, Seaworld. We watched the Army Band, and they had the most amazing display of fireworks over the water. It was a rather late night, we didn't get back home until after midnight. On Monday, it was still part of the holiday weekend, here in USA. So, not much happening. My grandkids are at the beach with my daughter and son-in-law. I helped my son and daughter-in-law do some stuff at their house. I went o bed around 9:30. So, here I am at 6:55 am on Tuesday, and wide awake. Have a nice week, and talk later. Karen

I lost 50 pounds so far! Before vs After pic inside!
kll724 replied to MsFab1988's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You do look real good since your loss. I am sure that the rest will make you look even better! Congrats on the loss and keep up the good work. Hoping that we see less of you soon! -
Hi Cat Lady, Welcome to the site and the best thing I've done for ME! I am going to be 62 on my birthday, which is 21 days away. I hope to be, almost, to goal by then. I woke up this morning and stepped on the scale. I am under 160 for the 1st time in 30 years. I am healthier and happier than I can explain! It will depend on your healing strength. I was okay to do light stuff after a week. You can't do heavy lifting. I was told nothing heavier than a gallon of milk. Your grandkids should be okay to watch as they will try to help Grand ma as much as they can. Walking is important, and doing it as erect as possible. Good luck, and join us when you want, we are a friendly bunch.

I guess the ladies and gents who are RNs or MDs could do this for themselves. I can't imagine any circumstance that would put me in a place that I would have to consider doing a fill/unfill for myself. I trust my surgeon and he is the only one that does fills in his office.

Have you been keeping your fat clothing?
kll724 replied to LapNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Haha! I think it probably is time for either a tailor or a trip to the store! 130 lbs is a lot to have to make up for in the way you wear your clothes! Just saying, I think that you would look real nice in something that fit you!:scared2: -
Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
kll724 replied to crystalcml's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Did not cheat, kind of liked the shakes and got used to beef broth. Did not really like the chicken broth, tho'. Jello and pop cycles were my best friends. The beef broth sure did clean me out, too! -
Congrats, Will. Wish I could get my Hubby to do it, too! He is reluctant to be put under sedation. Also, Jerseygirl, good for you! Sounds like things are improving for you, too! Sorry to hear about the tornado. Did you have damage to your property? We had a tree loose several large branches on our back fence on June 1 here in Florida. It finally got fixed on Friday. !st a company came to remove the tree branches, and then fence company came out to repair the fence. Phyl, keep on going with that new family member.

Have you been keeping your fat clothing?
kll724 replied to LapNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So far, I have gotten rid of all my fat clothes and the ones that I bought to replace the fat clothes. I have some almost new jeans, that I bought to take to the Grand Canyon in May, size 14. I have them in my close and my husband suggest finding a tailor to help with those. I changed sizes real quick lately. I had been lucky as I had been hitting the better dept store winter sales, so I got $45 for 15, but still hurts to wear 3 times and have to get rid of those jeans. -
Interesting, I didn't watch the video, but read the commentary part of it. I guess dietitians think that most of us are "losers". I think most of us can lose the weight, but "yoyo" it. following a teenager is kind of unfair to adults who have worked at losing so many times. I have lost and gained 100's of lbs in 40 years. I hope that this time, the "yoyo" will not happen. I am pretty confident that through the Lapband, and self control, I will be successful!:bored:

Oh lap-band, how I love thee!
kll724 replied to JCulver3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have done amazingly well. Good luck meeting your goal, and yes, it is nice to have a new friend remark about your old photos. -
Oh, what a cutie she is! I am glad the lady finally relented. I guess she had to make sure that you are totally committed to her/your puppy. Hurray for you and your new friend.

Your surgery was just 2 days ago, give yourself a break. Congrats on this step to your future goal. Take it easy, follow doctors orders and relax. Good luck!!By the way, even my surgeon, who had his operation on a Friday, did not go back to work until Monday.

Me too! I got banded on Oct.30, 2009. I am down 43 lbs since banding, but a total of 82 lbs since last April including my 6 month pre-diet. I, also, went to my PCP yesterday. She was so proud and all my numbers are in line with healthy! She showed me off to a colleague as an patient that she was proud of. Was a great feeling after leaving her office. But, you all seem to be doing a great job after your banding. My surgeon in not even suggesting another fill. He says 16 more lbs, and then maintenance for me.

Wow, I wish that I had the energy to do either a marathon, or 1/2 marathon. I often wanted to do the 3 day walk for breast cancer, too. Maybe next year I will have built up the stamina for those things....Well good luck to us all on our efforts to better ourselves. The doctor wants me to work on my hubby, next!

Good for you. My daughter has me doing couch to 5k. It is only our 4th day of doing it. We have been using the tread mill because its too hot outside to do it. And we are the "lightening capital of the world" here in my part of Florida, so that is another problem we have on summer afternoons/evenings.

Hi, News from me. I went to my GP this am. She hadn't seen me since my Lapband surgery. She was so proud of me. She said all my blood test results were great. I have great cholesterol. It was up before. She is having me cut my blood pressure meds in 1/2. She saw a Dr friend of hers and said this is my patient, she had Lapband surgery, and "How much weight have you lost?" "I have lost 82 lbs, but 43 lbs since surgery." Her friend said I see, looks like only some toning is needed now, or cosmetic surgery. I said, "No, if I was 35-40, maybe I would think about it, but not at 62." !! It was a great day booster:wub:.Thanks for listening, Karen.

My story so far 11 months down...
kll724 replied to grnidchkee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am excited for you. I hope that this is the "kick" that you need. My daughter has had real slow loss too. Unfortunately for her, I am only 10 lbs more that her, now. I think that she took refuge in the fact that I had 100 lbs to loose, and she had 50. So, anyway, good luck and God bless! Karen:thumbup: -
The last time I was this size, I was....
kll724 replied to LeighaMason's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Haha! evidently it is very common to get pregnant after a huge weight loss. I got pregnant, the 1st time, after loosing 25 lbs. I was really looking good,at 118, then got prego, but stayed about 125 for 5 years until 2nd pregnancy. The the yoyo dieting started. -
Sounds like a great plan, Phyll. That barium, tastes nasty! Hope that you can get back on track, tho' Good luck.
-
:tt1:WOW!!!You have done great. You must have a great trainer and a lot of will power. You and your "team" are working it! Good luck in your continued losses.

Hi Folks, Well, went to the Doctor today. He was very pleased with my 12 lbs weight loss over the last 2 months. I am 167. I haven't been 167 in probably over 30 years. He asked my realistic goal. I said, "Well I would like to get to 140, but you told me I should only go to 150, so I guess my realistic goal is 150." So, he said you have been doing really good, and he thinks at the rate I am going, I might be near maintenance in August when I return to him. He is still a firm believer that woman of our "Age" show their age more if they are too thin. I will be happy to be 150, and in a size 10. I am currently wearing size 12 shorts. My size 14 pants are very loose. But, my size 14 dress, I wore to church Sunday, fit me best it had since I bought it. So close to my goal. He, also, did a floro test on me because I was complaining about pbing a lot. He said I am clear and have a nice passage. I made a committment to myself, for the time being at least, to use a baby spoon to eat, since I feel I am still taking too big a bite. Well, that is all my news.. I started at 254 at my heaviest. I dieted from last April, for 6 months, my weight at banding was 206 on Oct.30, 2009.

Scheduled to be banded in a week from today - thinking of canceling!
kll724 replied to Mariasha's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hmmm, after reading the article you included, I agree that maybe you should rethink with this office. Good luck with any decision you make. -
Hello everyone, My Husband and I took a month long vacation. We drove from Florida to Arizona. We spent 10 days with my sister and then drove to Flagstaff and stayed near the Grand canyon for 4 days. The Grand canyon is really grand for, for folks who haven't seen it yet. You need to take a trip! From there we drove to North Dakota and Minnesota. We left on May 2, and returned on May 29. I did real good, I lost about 10 lbs, and went for a 3 mile walk each morning with my sister. My husband and I, also, hit the gym everyday the 1st week. Only hit the pool the other days, tho'. Take care folks. Karen

POLL: how much fill in a 10cc band?
kll724 replied to restrict2008's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am at 5.5 cc, I have great restriction. My doctor put this in in Feb. I have continues to loose the weight, sometimes, slowly, other times, fast. I have trouble eating steak, and tomato, unless the tomato is cut tiny enough to avoid the skin. All in all, I am satisfied with the restriction I have. I have lost about 25-30 lbs since my fill in Feb. Karen
