Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Thanks, Cheri, the scale is what I will be depending on to keep me "honest". I did good yesterday, my 1st real food day since the surgeon removed some fill. I felt liberated! I was able to eat and not get that horrible feeling in my chest. But, I was, also, able to feel when I was full. Today, my husband and I are going out for lunch. He can't wait for me to be able to eat a meal and NOT get up to excuse myself with a "green" look on my face. Me neither, I really was looking at salad at the grocery. Yummy! Love this board and all of you, I am trying to be more confident. Can't wait to be 2 -3 years and maintaining!!!!!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Thanks, My surgeon, said you know you are going to have to watch or you will gain. I told him, I was aware of that. I am aware that I will have to continue to eat off dessert plates, etc. I am back to decent restriction. Not so tight that I couldn't eat. That happened by accident, and the more I vomited, the tighter I got. It was great for getting to goal, but I felt as if I was going to die. I was also worrying my husband and kids. I was worried about dehydration, too! I am sooooo much better now. I am excited to go into this new phase. Wish me luck. Thanks for your help. Karen

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hey Ladies and Gents who have met goal and are maintaining now. How do you do this? I met goal, due to being too tight. Surgeon finally took out 1 1/2 cc's. I now have 3 1/2 cc's in a 10cc band. Before this, I ws so tight that I lost 9 lbs in 2 weeks from not eating and pb'ing everything. So, now I can eat. But, surgeon reminded me that it will be hard to maintain. (he is experienced, as he is lapband patient, too). So, now I can eat, but need to be careful of gaining weight. Help!!!Karen

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

It doesn't look like much jiggling there. Looked at your profile pics. Beautiful! I only wear a girdle for Sunday church. Otherwise I am free. I wear highhip and below bellybutton panties, also. Can't stand a hiphugger, tho, they used to roll, so, I haven't tried since loosing weight. By the way, had a moment today when the checker at Sams CLub, asked me if this is you on the card. Said yes, I probably need anew picture. My husband joked and said, she needs to wait a year. The clerk said, why, she isn't going to loose anymore,is she.

Hi all, Phyl take it easy on your trip. That sounds lie a long ride; we had thought about getting a travel trailer when we 1st talked about retirement. That soon went away. We retired to Florida instead. Karen and all other Leo's happy birthday, I am one of you too. (Also another Karen). I am on goal, going to the surgeon on Wed, think I will ask for another unfill, to maintain. he gave me .02 2 weeks ago, and still lost 5 lbs. So I need more taken out to maintain, I think. Best wishes and happy Sunday to all. Karen(kll724)

    My Journey, Happy Bandiversary!!!

Congratulations on your bandiversary. Read your journey. Wow! You are doing real well. Nice to be in "normal" sizes isn't it. It took awhile for me to realize that my 20w's were falling off my butt. Then when I was able to go into the misses department. That was a great feeling. Good luck in your upcoming next goals. Karen
  7. Having a banded doctor is the exact reason I see him. He is the head of his obesity group, and the only doctor that has been banded. He, also, has several nurses working for him that are banded. My daughter goes to a colleague, and he is skinny. His response to her are eat less, excersie more. You will lose weight.

I was to Yakima back in 2000 for a multi-generational family reunion. It was a interesting place. I had no idea that it was dessert land. I have only been to the West coast that one time. Loved Oregon and the mountains, like Mt Rainer, etc..
  10. Oh, Sandi, I feel your pain. Good job, tho'. We all have gone through similar embarrassments. Karen
  11. Oh, I absolutely agree with the other folks. Eighty lbs since Feb is great. You do sound like you are, probably, where you should be as far as fills. If you get to a stand still on your weight loss, you might want a .02-.05 cc added, but sounds good right now. Don't mess with a good thing!
  12. On that same subject. Don't you, or should I say didn't you just hate the ladies rooms that you had to straddle the seat to close the doors and open them again. Glad that I finally am past that stage too!
  13. Thanks, Tanya, I guess we just have to do the "stiff upper lip", thing. Part of my reason for wanting to lose, was I was tired of being the "fat lady" in the choir. Feel so much better now! I know that we both have done and are doing the right thing for ourselves. Pfft! to all the "jealous" folks out there. :wub:Karen
  14. You are doing great. I hear, "Are you sick?" (Our church recently lost a friend to cancer.) Someone asked me how much more I want to loose. I said only about 5 pounds, as my doctor is conservative and thinks woman of certain age, look skinny if they are to low weight. But, I will still be in the overweight BMI because I am short, 5'3", and he wants me to stop at 150. I am happy to maintain at that weight, however. Good luck, everyone, on your weight losses. Karen

Hi all, I went to the my surgeon today for a slight, un-fill. He only removed .2 cc. He had me stand in front of the flouro and drink that nasty barium. It barely went down. I am very swollen and a little tight, ( per him). After taking out the bit he did, he had me go back in front, and watched the liquid go down. I feel better, and can actually keep liquids down. I have a return apt for Aug 11, he said we will be able to tell by then if it helps. (Or, to call earlier, if need be). I will be happy to be able to eat/sleep/ etc without reflux and pbing. I know for newbees this sounds bad, it was for a few days. That is why I went to my surgeon. Sunday/Monday were like nothing would stay down. :cursing: Today, is already better. I have to do a couple days of liquids to clear the swelling. On a better note, the doctor said I am one of the success stories!!!!Yeah, Me!

    New 60+ Thread

Welcome, before I found 60+, I was on 50's thread. So, they were welcoming, we certainly can invite our "little sister" to join us here. I have found that since I love crab cakes, I look for them on the appetizer menu. Then I have that and maybe some salad. I, also, try to use baby spoons to keep my bites small. :scared2: Welcome again, Karen

Thanks for the cheers! And I agree, that we "fine wines" will show our patience and maturity. I, also, have a doctor that is stingy with fills. But, lately am real glad that he was. Good luck to us all.
  18. :wub:Happy Bandiversary! You look graet! Keep up the good work.

    New 60+ Thread

Congrats on your 3 yr bandaversary! I hope that when I go back to the doctor in Aug I will be at his goal. At that time, I am asking for a slight un-fill. I am pretty tight and have a hard time eating much real food. I just had to mash my peas for dinner, as had them last night and they came up and it was not a pretty sight. Does anyone have problems with constipation? I have been having a problem for a while now, too. So, anyway, life is pretty good. My husband and I are going to the gym, and he is using the tread mill. Something, he really hated.

No action here for awhile. I got totally bored reading the new posts lines. Some of those young'ens are so impatient. They act like if they don't lose 30 lbs a month, there must be something wrong! Yipes! My own weight loss had been sort of slow until May/June and July. Now, I am only 7 lbs from the goal my surgeon has set for me. But, between Oct-Jan, I had only lost about 20 lbs. Anyway, needed to come over here to gripe. Haha! I went shopping today, something I have gotten real happy to do. I bought 3 dresses on sale. They are size 10. I haven't been in size 10 since 1979. My husband helped pick them out. He is very proud of my new found figure, too. Talk to you all soon, I hope, can't deal with the silly 20 somethings complaining about being on a plateau at 2 months out after loosing 30 lbs.

    Anyone got new photo`s..??

Nice difference, Majj! I am too lazy to post pictures, right now!
  22. Sounds like a sweet spot to me! I am not sure what is expected from a sweet spot, but you sure sound like it is there for you, now. Sure you might need a fill later on, but for right now, relax and enjoy it. I have only had 2 fills, the latest has lasted me for 5 months, now. And, I am actually might call the surgeon for a slight unfill. Good luck to you!!!
  23. Welcome, I am going to be 62. I had my lapband done in Oct 2009. To date I have lost 50 lbs post op, but 35 lbs on the 6 month diet my insurance required. My PCP advised me on my last apt that all my blood came back ok. No more high cholesterol and any other obesity signs. I know that it was not a"piece of cake" but I am moving on through. I am 7 lbs from my surgeons goal. Good luck to you! Bye the way, we have a 60's or older group here. Join us there, if you like, we are a friendly bunch!

    New 60+ Thread

Welcome PB78640, Congrats on your 1st step toward a new you! Trying to think back to full liquids. If you like it, hot and sour soup from Chinese is a good option, also, ice pops, and I drink a lot of lemon aide. I continued to have at least 2 protein shakes. I was liking beef boullion, too, but most varieties have a lot of sodium in them. I hope my suggestions help a little. Mostly, I wanted to welcome you.
