hit my 100lbs lost- in 8 months! (with before/current pics)
kll724 replied to lauragshsu's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You look great; you have done a good job. 100 lbs is not easy, good for you. Karen(kll724) -
Hurray, Jerseygirl. I, also, had to have a complete unfill in August. The surgeon refilled me on in Oct with 1 1/2 cc. I had no restriction, so, on Nov 10, he topped me off with 2.7cc, he said. Yesterday, I had to have some taken out as I was, again, too tight. The nurse found 4.2 cc instead of 3.7 cc. She removed .7cc. I am great, now. I find it hard to maintain my weight. I dropped 8 lbs in a week when I was too tight. I hope to settle down, now. Anyway, welcome back, and congrats on your victory of reaching goal! Karen(kll724).

I am thankful that my husband is totally supportive of my Lapband and doesn't mind that I have turned into a clothes freak. Also, that with the help of my band, God, the people on this site, and my family and friends, I have lowered my blood pressure, cholestrol and lost 100 lbs. Thanks everyone. Karen (kll724) :blushing:

NSV - Drivers License weight
kll724 replied to LapBandBobbi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Florida doesn't have a weight section. But, I agree that I need my drivers license changed as it doen't look a bit like me. Also, my Visa has my picture and it looks like someone else entirely. I had glasses( since then had laser surgery), lost about 100 lbs, and cut my hair. I have had store clerks do a double take on both the Visa and drivers license. Karen (kll724) -
How easy or difficult has it been to lose weight with Lap Band?
kll724 replied to photo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree, I put somewhat easy. I lost 100 lbs in my 1st year. But, maintenance to me is the hardest part. Remembering what got you to your weight loss and where you came from, helps an awful lot to maintain your won't power. As in, I won't go back to the way I was, I won't eat all the junk that I know I shouldn't have. I won't get discouraged. Karen(kll724) -
2nd fill today- kinda bummed and confused
kll724 replied to samomom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
16 lbs since Sept. is a lot. This is not gastric bypass. This is slow and steady weight loss. I did not lose but about 12 lbs in the 1st 2 months. Then the weight slowly fell off. My sizes adjusted and I had to buy new clothes after about 3 months. Then, every few months I had to change wardrobes, it will happen. Have patience. Good luck, cheer up and be happy you are on the new journey of the rest of your life!! Karen(kll724) -
Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
kll724 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It all depends, I lost 35 lbs, but had co-morbities, an did not have a problem with the insurance covering my weight loss. Also, I think maybe if you have dieting 3x and not been successful at maintaining your weight loss, it makes a difference, too! -

Exercise ideas to prevent flabby arms? Legs?
kll724 replied to brew44's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 62 years young. I have lost 100 lbs since lapband pre-diet and surgery on 10/30/09. Mostly I have been walking and doing weights exercise at the gym. I noticed my arms tightening up and my husband commented last week about my thighs. And, I had a NSV today, a lady that did not know me before my 100 loss, but was aware of the loss, told me that I had great looking legs and had I lost a lot there. You can tighten flabby skin, but it doesn't happen overnight! Karen(kll724). (by the way, no plastic surgery for this girl)!! -

My surgeon had originally told me that I could go home at 4pm. I was done at 7:30 am. He then came in, after my husband drove for an hour, and said neither my insurance nor my roommates insurance would pay for an outpatients lapband surgery. So, we both had to stay overnight. I was very glad, I wasn't ready to go home. I think, my husband was not ready for me to go home either! But, it can be out or in depending on what your insurance pays for. Karen(kll724)

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
kll724 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello all, especially Wendyann and Aliengirl, Congrats to both of you on your weight loss journey. I, also, had a fill on Wednesday. I am on liquids until Saturday. I am on maintenance, but had no restriction. I am better, now. I had only 1 1/2 cc before fill (had to have everything removed in August due to problem). Now, I have 3.7 cc. 4 was too much, water and barium did not go down. I guess I will find out tomorrow if I am too tight. Well, anyway, welcome to the newbies and hi'yall. Karen(kll724) -
These banners are killing me...
kll724 replied to Cherishthepast's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I, also, use firefox; I only get Lapband adds, Isopure, and plastic surgery adds, too! I sure am glad I don't get the food adds. HATE watching some shows on TV when all you see are food adds, and you don't even want that food anymore! Karen(kll724) -
Thin girl in the mirror... Fat girl in my head!
kll724 replied to Rescue3Chick's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am, also, in this category. I see a fat girl, too. I am in a strong size 10. But, I still don't feel like I am the same size as other woman I see. I am still "fatter than". I have a picture on facebook to remind me, but when I see myself in the mirror, I see the fat me. Karen (kll724) -
Catherine, my feelings, exactly. Hurrah for you!! I know that extra woman you carried is like taking the"monkey off your back". Karen(kll724).

Bunny and Suejack, You both have great attitudes. I am 62, and have been banded for 1 year. I sometimes have lows, but mostly am high on my weight loss and life. You are both starting the best times of your lives. 50 was good, 60 is better. My husband and I have 2 grown childen, 2 grandchildren, and just celebrated 40 years in May. Enjoy!!!! I took early retirement and am living off my IRA. My house is paid as is the swimming pool out back. I retired to Florida 4 years ago. I am, also, in a happy place. Karen(kll724). -
I guess I'm a success story!
kll724 replied to lellow's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow! you sure are, congrats at being a success story. I, also, am a success story. I made it to goal in less than a year. I think maintenance is the most difficult part of the whole thing, though. You look great and seem to have no trouble maintaining your loss. I see by your after picture that you are enjoying your new body. Good luck in the future and bless you for sharing!!! -
You are doing amazing!! My daughter, who is a natural med buff, said that aloe vera is a good laxative, too, so it should help keep you regular.

Great for you!!I was at my church ladies group last night. The pres. of the group, at the end of the meeting, got into a discussion about me and another lady having our legs crossed and how it was a"nono" for church. So, my only remark was, "But, you don't realize how long its been sense I could cross them." They all laughed!!

High cholesterol, how can i lower?
kll724 replied to jen36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was taking Lipitor. I had the same reaction. I was so weak, I couldn't walk without assistance. I was on a very high dose, because this PA at the drs offic ethat thought it was a good idea to lower my cholestrol to below 165. I =, also, took myself off after moving to Florida from Maryland. I refused for my new physician to put me on a drug. But, the good news is that once I lost my weight, the numbers went to normal!!! Good luck, I hope that you do not get the same reaction on your body as we did. Karen(kll724) -

Drinking Alcohol After Being Banded?
kll724 replied to SarahCasey's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't drink alcohol, much. But he couple times I have had a drink, it goes to my head quicker. I have lost 100 lbs, so size makes a difference. But 1 drink, gives me a buzz. I had a Bud light on tap watching football yesterday, just one was all that I could drink. So, my answer is "yes" it affects you differently. I have been banded for 1 year. Karen(kll724)
