Any Central Florida Bandsters out there??
kll724 replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I am in Lakeland, Florida. I was banded on Oct 30, 2009 by Pasco Surgical Associates, Florida Obesity Associates in Zephyrhills, Florida. I have met goal in Sept 2010. I had 100 lbs to loose. I am 62 years young, wife of 40 years, mother of 2, grandmother of 2. I am friendly and willing to respond to your questions and or comments. Karen(kll724) -
Have a safe and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I want to be inclusive, so Happy Holidays to all other faiths and religions. And Happy Kwanza to folks who celebrate that and Festivus too!

kll724 replied to Twinkles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
CONGRATS TO YOU! A great feeling too, is to just throw away the "Woman Within" catalogs, because everything in them is too big for you! Good post. Karen(kll724) -
Anyone Still Surprised?
kll724 replied to summer134's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Happy holidays, to you too! I went into this thinking, oh another downer. She isn't happy with her 56 lbs loss. But, then read the rest of your post and it made me smile, too. You are doing great, and a BIG congratulations are in order. Hoping to see less f us all in the new year. Karen(kll724) -
Congrats, Chuck. My own son will start his journey in January, after he changes insurances. He is at about what you started at. I know that he would definitely celebrate 100 lbs lost. So yes, celebrate, but not with food! 100 lbs got me to goal. And I was and am happy, too! Karen (kll724) PS: you look great!

Hurrah! A race starts with the 1st stride! Good for you, and all of us!

Yay! I was a 22w, and finding them tight. I just a Lee jean, and it was size 8. I haven't worn this size in 36 years. Thanks for the uplifting post. And, I had bought myself a coat from Goodwill, in the spring, to go to Grand Canyon. It was a 14, I took it back to Goodwill, because it was way big! Karen(kll724)!

Me too! I have, until this weight loss, always had extra butt. In fact, when I was young(many moons ago, a fellow asked my friend if I went to "Fredericks of Hollywood" for extra padding. That was when I weighed 120 lbs! Now, I have no butt, and can feel my pelvic bones, too! Oh, the trials of being a thinner woman. now!

Good luck in your life without the band. Now that you have lost the weight, you can maintain. It won't be easy, just remember to eat small portions and what got your weight loss. It wasn't just your band, it was YOU, too!:DKaren(kll724)

I was wearing a pair of hand-me-down jeans, yesterday. they were very loose, and I was tired of pulling them up. We were at Sears, Christmas shopping. I said how about if I pick up a pair of jeans? he said, "You know, I was happy to have to buy you new clothes, but you are getting clothes crazy, now" What a great thing to do, because I am now wearing size 8 Lee jeans! I am down from 22w since Oct.30,2009. I am now. officially smaller than when I had my son 36 years ago.Congratulations to us all, with our NSV!!!

I don't know you, but you seem to be a Lady of distinction! I will say a prayer for your full recovery. God bless you and your family. Be strong! Karen

Have you ever got hit around the port?
kll724 replied to Rchavez101's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I, also, have never been hit. But, I have placed a heavy box, where I normally would have carried it before lap-band, and had to quickly move it off the port and carry it properly using my arms, instead. So, I guess, the answer would be to be careful, but not overly indulgent of the port site, in the future. Karen (kll724) -
Welcome, Blair, and others new to the site; I have been here since Nov. 3,2009. I had my surgery on Oct.30,2009, but did not reach out for support until after the surgery. I needed someone, just as you do, to talk to about emotions, diets, and victories, too! So, I hope that you will find that here with this group, they are great support! Karen (kll724).

I was on the local news - Lap Band Interview!
kll724 replied to Lap Band Gal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow! I agree with the others, you do look fabulous! Congratulations on helping to spread the news. We need more folks to get the word out. I have had my lap-band for 13 months, and am at goal. My son is going in January for his 1st apt, after his new insurance takes over, because he saw my success. Karen (kll724) -
Congrats on that! You can do it! By next summer size 10's. Karen(kll724)

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
kll724 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey, Phyl, and anyone else around, Are we the only people that have returned to the site? I see that you post on another group, too. I haven't posted there, but might if this one doesn't get any action. I am back to not being able to keep much down, again. I had redskin mashed potatoes on Thursday, they got stuck. Then, Friday I think, I had some Chinese. Obviously, a bad choice, now, I can't really eat solids, and liquids are slow to go down. I have an apt. on Wed, so hopefully if the problem doesn't resolve, he will be able to help me. I tried chili last night, I have burped and had to take ant-acid ever since. Yuck!! Other than that, I am good, getting ready for the holidays. Trying to get my shopping done. Well, take care. Karen(kll724) -
HELLO!!!ANYONE HERE? i MISS OUR 60'S + GROUP. PLEASE COME BACK!!! YES, I KNOW THAT I AM SHOUTING! Karen(kll724)

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
kll724 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey, everyone, I miss you all! I don't like the new format. It's hard to find the forums you want. Anyway, I haven't seen many folks since mid-November when this thing went down. Life is good. I've been real busy with family, the holidays and doing service project with my church group. So far, I've done well this month in maintenance. My family practitioner was real proud of my weight loss, again. She adjusted my blood pressure meds for 2 weeks, then she might take me off all together. Yeah! Well talk to you all later. Karen(kll724) -
After a fill, it is the only thing that I can eat, also. But, some days, I crave mashed potato, cheese soup. I have not had a problem eating it, and it stays with me, too. But, I can't tolerate chunky soups, I have a tendency to not chew them. Karen(kll724)

Do you eat peanut butter??
kll724 replied to hokiemama's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Peanut butter is one of my mainstay proteins. I eat it with crackers for a lunchtime meal. I, also, eat it to boost my vanilla, banana shakes. I, however, try to stick to 1 tablespoon serving. Best of luck, Karen(kll724). -
Going for ANOTHER unfill and feeling kind of down!
kll724 replied to Princess_Gottalose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got restriction with only 3.2 fill. In the spring I had 5.5, but then around June I could not keep anything down and had reflux all night long. My surgeon removed everything and gradually put back in. In August he put in 1 cc and I had no restriction still. He put in another 3.2, and then I was too tight. I now have 3.2 cc and am just right! As teh other person said, everyone's body is different and reacts differently to fill. Karen(kll724) -
The Volcano was the Perfect excuse
kll724 replied to bodyfixer's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Loved your story. So interesting, you have a great talent for words. You were very lucky to be able to afford to get away from the volcano. It was indeed perfect timing for you. Best of luck on your journey. It sounds as if you are well on your way. Congratulations to your new life!! Karen (kll724) -
Been there, done that. I am back to 3 1/2 cc now. I am good, but still can't eat certain veggies, like cabbage and brussell sprouts. We had brussell sprouts for dinner yesterday, not a good result! I, too, am glad to see the forum back up. I need to talk to my friends. I had to re-bookmark the site, as the old book mark did not work, either. I did miss you folks. I hope that the others find us, again. Nice to see old friends after so long away. Hope that you all had a great Thanksgiving. I was thankful for our little group, too! Karen(kll724).
