Good for you! You are making the 1st step toward success. Don't bully yourself because you have been a slow looser or stalled. You are now getting back on track. Good luck! Karen

Yet another update. hahaha
kll724 replied to SarahGirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good luck, I think that you have a good chance of getting your shape without plastci surgery because of your age. -
In my experience, I did not feel my port until the surgeon put a fill in in. I knew where it was, it was the largest of the scars on my tummy. I am like others that have met goal, I can feel and see it protrude now. But, I am 62 years old, and not likely to wear a bikini for anyone except my husband. It doesn't show through my clothes! A NSV worth cheering about
kll724 replied to Karlzmom's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats, and happy anniversary. What a surprise for hubby! I am sure you and he will get "lucky", tomorrow. Karen -
wonderful! I have people say they don't remember me fat. I think it was because they ignored that "fat lady". Many others say that I look like I lost enough weight now. I tell them, yes, I am satisfied with my loss. Strangers will be surprised when they see my ID and see this fat lady. I only have had one changed, but not my drivers license. Bask in your NSV!

Congrats on your bandaversary! And also on your awesome weight loss. You have done a wonderful job, keep up the good work. Karen

Hurray for you! I am past my personal goal and 14 lbs lower than my surgeon's goal. I weigh 137 now. But don't want to go any lower and am satisfied with size 8. I expect that if I get back to the gm and work out like I should I will drop sizes, too. I am very proud of you, and so excited that you were able to let loose on the plane, (yell your weight, that is). Karen

I've had a lot of bowel problems. Before surgery, on liquid diet, I had the runs and sometimes barley made it to the restroom before having to go. Since surgery, most of my problems have been the other way, as not being able to go. Be glad that you are still on bed rest and not out in the real world. It takes time for your system to get used to all the liquid and other changes. If it keeps up, call your surgeon. Good luck, and welcome to the new you! Karen

Things you learned after LB install that you discovered afterward.

So true, steak hates me too! I keep wanting a nice piece of steak..Every time I have tried I am stuck for days, too. I guess, eventually, I will learn to not want steak. I enjoy a nice smoothy now. I have at least 1 a day on maintenance. There is very little foods that I enjoy anymore. I wish I could eat salads, but all the veggies get stuck, I am not a good chewer. My daughter, who also has a band, enjoys them because she is a good chewer. She, also eats steak! Not that I am really jealous of her, she is down about 40 lbs in 18 months, and I am down 104. Everyone is different is what I have learned! Karen -
Any one else disgusted?
kll724 replied to MaineJackie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, you said exactly what I was thinking, I feel like a reformed smoker(again)! I am a reformed smoker so I see the vulgarity of that habit. But, now, I see the oveeating and feel the same way. I was, and probably still am, a food addict. I have successfully made it to goal and am maintanance, but still think of food! I see the awful amounts that the food pusher restuarants give us,and am appalled. But, so many people think they need to finish their dinners. My son, whom I dearly love, has started the path to lapband. He needs to loose probably 100 lbs. Last month just cutting his plate size to salad plate, he lost 9 lbs with out any pills or other special diets! -
Constipation anyone?
kll724 replied to TexasNurseMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i don't know about the Fiber One bars, but Benefiber is working great for me. I was getting constipated once a week, and having to take a laxative. Now, I use Benefiber and have no problem staying regular! -
Me too! I am laughed at by my friend who knew me fat. She said that's what happens when you loose 100 lbs. I have so many sweaters, now. Never needed them before, in Florida. But, tell you what, even got one out for a while this morning, and my skinny daughter-in-law laughed at me this time. Unless you think it is a medical problem, it i s probably that you have lost a "coat" that you had before. Karen

I see Dr Grossbard. He is wonderful, as far as I am concerned. What I like about him, is he was a patient, before he was a surgeon. He knows what we are going through. Good luck. Mine was covered by insurance, so I can't say what mine cost. But, I am a happy patient. I am now in maintenance, but my son will be having his surgery in June. Feel free to send a message to me, if you like. Karen(kll724)

Almost a Year after Surgery....and soooo Happy!
kll724 replied to CynthiaMTR's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hurrah for you! Keep up the good work, just as you said, "slow and steady wins the race"! Ask the turtle. I have lost 104, and am maitenance. It is harder than the weight loss for me. I had my 1st anniversary Oct.30 2010, so I am 1 1/2 almost. I never met goal before in all my dieting. But, this time my surgeon hugged ma and said you have lost 100 lbs. I was excited and pleased with myself and the lapband. Karen(kll724) -
Bad news and probably short lived good news
kll724 replied to MaineJackie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, I would not go for a fill. Besides, I am not sure your surgeon will fill you. You are doing great without. But, if you are feeling hungry, reschedule your fill for after you feel better. karen*kll724) -
I will answer first, because i was the one who said she was buzzed quickly. I am not a drinker, never was. But, I could have maybe 2 drinks and not feel much but 1/2 a drink, now and I can feel it. The day I got sick was around the holidays, and I was across the street from my own house. I. almost, felt like someone should walk me home! That was on 2 ounces of tequila sunrise! Haven't tried anything since. Karen(kll724)

I have lost 104lbs; I was a 44dd, I am a 36c. I wear a d cup, tho' because to me the c is just not comfortable, yet. I love to shop at Victoria Secret instead of Lane Bryant or wherever we fat girls had to shop. Don' t do anything yet. It is far to soon to be talking about a breast reduction. My breast are saggy, but I think that when most woman are my age(62), they are saggy. I can say for my 40 year old daughter, her breast look great! She never really had cleavage when she was fatter. She does now,and looks good. Go for a nice fitting wherever you shop when you need an adjustment. Karen(kll724)

Looking for Whey Protein Mix recommendations....
kll724 replied to JerseyMom29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I,also, like EAS 100% whey protein. I use the vanilla for the same reason you mentioned, the chocolate would be too overpowering. Also, chocolate and I are not great friends since my lapband. I like to add banana and peanut butter to my smoothies, too. Enjoy, I do! Karen(kll724) -
Since loosing my weight, I get a buzz on real quick, like 1/2 a drink. I don't do beer, either. But, I have had tequila. Oof! it hit me real quick. And it was the worst hangover I have had in 43 years! Be careful. You will not be able to drink what you could when you were heavier. Karen(kll724)

Coffee... it's no good anymore =(
kll724 replied to TKW's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Interesting! I used to drink 2 cups to wake me up in the morning. Now, I can barely drink one. I haven't noticed a difference in taste, tho'. This was one question my son asked me. "Can I still drink coffee after I get the band?" I said that they(the nut, and surgeon) recommend decaf, but I am ok with the regular kind. He, also, is a coffee snob. But, he knows he needs to loose the weight too! Karen(kll724) -
You've done so well. think just keep doing what you are doing. The last 20 lbs. are the hardest to loose, anyway. 3 weeks isn't really that much of a plateau. I was plateaued for a couple of months, but then boom the weight started to fall off again. Maybe, you need to increase your workout a little, too. Karen(kll724)

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
kll724 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Phyl and all, trying hard not to get to the point of the lady that wrote this poem! Hope the New year is treating you well. The weather here in Florida has been chilly, but not like the rest of the country. I heard that one week in January we were the only state out of 50 that had no snow. Yipe! Working hard to maintain, here. I am at 104 down and trying to stay around that. I weighed in at 139 this am. My next apt to see surgeon/doctor is not until March. He is more confident than I am. I have been having acid reflux,(gerd), at night if I eat too late. Finding that if I stay away from food after 7:00, I am fine all night. Take care everyone. And happy New Band year! Karen(kll724). -
Mine does not have a weight, but the picture is too funny. I had my credit cred picture changed, but not my license yet. It is due for renewal this year. I love to whip it out and have people look at me and then the picture. After 100 lbs, it is a big change. Karen(kll724)
