I can neither eat chicken breast or salad. May have to try other things. Karen

    After a fill.....

Whether for a fill or unfill, my surgeon requires 48 hrs clear liquids, then 48 hours full liquids. After that, I can eat what I like. When I had a unfill once, not done by the surgeon, I was told that unfill wasn't quite as important to follow the liquid diet as a fill. The fill causes swelling, so my surgeon feels it is important to use the liquid diet he prescribes! Karen
  4. When was your appointment, April1. Sounds like an April Fools joke to me! Your psych eval, sounds like she has confused lapband with gastric bypass. I, also, have sugar when I want it. I usually use a sweetener, but indulge in "real" sugar, too! Karen
  5. I think that I agree with the statement above; but when willpower(won't power) gives out, lapband takes over causing you not to overeat! Karen

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!

Ryno, you are doing such a great job for yourself and your future. You have lost almost 1/2 of your goal. Good for you, keep on keeping on! Karen
  7. I have never been weighed at my surgeon's office or any other dr office in the buff! No, your BMI is with clothing on. Most surgeon's are trying to get you your surgery. Good luck. In fact, my son just started his journey in January, the surgeon(same as mine), told him to only loose about 1 lb a month. 1st month, he lost 9, but he is still within the 40 BMI. Karen

    Symptoms of Band Slippage?

I have a slipped band. My biggest problem was GERD all night long. I would cough and cough until I had to spit out slime. At my last visit, my surgeon removed everything for a month to see if it would solve the problem. I suggest a visit to your surgeon, ASAP! Karen
  9. Congrats to you, too, Sweetbean! You are doing great, too!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hello, glad to see that this place is more active. I had to have a unfill and it is kicking my butt. I have gained and need to get back on track. As folks say, I can eat anything.Well, most anything! I am trying to maintain, but it is tough. Talk to you all soon I hope. Karen

    When ya get " STUCK"

It can be either immediate or take a few minutes to happen. I have had both occurances. Both are miserable so not something that is a desirable happening! Good luck to you if you don't know and have never had this happen! Keep pineapple juice available in case it does, though. Karen

    Coffee

I, also, drink a cup of coffee every morning. I add non-fat milk. I need that caffeine jilt. I have at times not been able to drink a cup due to restriction in the morning, but mostly I have no problem with it. It is the only caffeine I have. tea just doesn't do it for me, and I don't drink de-caf. Karen

    8 Pounds to Go

Hello Howdybooth, I had my band placed on Oct 30, 2009. We are almost mates. You look great! I am on maintenance, which for me is harder than loosing. Due to a slip, my band is empty, so now, I have to put all my learned experience of 2 years into work. It is mostly a success. Best of luck to you. Karen
  15. Yahoo! It is as a great feeling! I still get my "Woman Within" catalog. I, now, just recycle it. ( I don't know how to get off their mailing list.) I used to page through it, everything is way to big! I know that excitement, too!Karen
  16. Hurray! You did it so quick! Congradualtions!
  17. Hurray! you can do this. You are the one in control and you will be making the strides you need to live! Good luck. Karen

    Ahh bra...

I agree with Jaqui. I only wear Victoria Secret bras, now. If you still need a larger bra, they come in 42 dd. But, they have the underwire most of us need. They have a new bra with this cris-cross thing between the 2 straps. It helps to lift and separate. It makes my saggy girls perk up and look nice! Those bras that are on the infomercial do look like sprots bras and are pricey, too.
  19. I have to agree with the other folks. I would not give up my band for anything. I was 254 at my highest. Wow! I have to admit, it takes a lot for me to even say that to myself. I was not a food addict, but did enjoy food. I now can eat small amounts and be satisfied. I have gained and lost many times over, but with the band, it can be controlled. I, now, am at maintanance, and my band is empty due to a slip. I still am controlling myself after learning the hints of smaller servings and smaller plates. I weigh less now than in 36 years. I am happy and now I have a true addiction to shopping for my new wardrobe!!!!Karen

    Jean shopping..

Woohoo! Those NSV are great, aren't they? How did you keep up your old jeans, going from 26 to 18?? I know that was a great feeling. Congrats. Karen

What do I tell my kids....

My daughter told her kids that the surgeon helps mommy not be as fluffy. Her son loves to cuddle her fluff. He is a little upset that she will get as unfluffy as grandma. But, she is still l40 lbs over her goal. He went with us to our appointments the other day, and he saw that grandma still has some fluff under her shirts!. Karen PS:Kids are more understanding than you think. Good luck with whatever you decide.

    I can't believe this!

Happy 24th birthday! Are you a Patricia or Patty in honor of St Paddy's day? You are on the best path for your future and next year at this time, when you turn 25, I know that we will see "less" of you! Good luck . Karen
  23. Wow! Reading this made me realize what I miss. I miss a good peace of steak, lettuce salad, bread, pasta, CHOCOLATE, and ice cream. These are all triggers for me and also cause me to get pb's. I am now, un-filled as I have a slip. So, I suppose for the next month I could allow myself to indulge, I promise myself, and you all, I won't. LAst night was the worst, I have been on 2 day fast of clear liquids. I wanted anything as I watched TV with my husband. I settled for chicken broth.. It was okay. We have to learn to NOT let temptations get into our way of our new life. I have worked too hard to loose over 100 lbs since April 2009 when I started my 6 month diet. Like one of the other folks said, I don't have a gluten allergy, but other members of my family are gluten intolerant, but I sure do get a trigger when I eat bread! Bless you all and keep up the good work. Anything is possible when God is on your side. Karen.

Thank god for the lap band

Wow! you and lovinglife have done amazing things. I hope that this will be the turnaround you make for yourselves throughout life. Loving, I know that as a young man this will change your future. People will look at you differently, and supervisors will look at you as a go getter not a s a "fat" kid. Good luck to both of you! Form an "old lady". Karen

    No one told me....

I have no trouble with my smaller pills. But, I take chewable vitamins. I have been stuck with a vitamin. As folks said, after swelling is gone, 1 at a time works good.
