I agree with everything you just said, Elfiepoo! I had band slippage, but it did not come all of a sudden. I had weeks of GERD. But, even with that, my surgeon said I cam ein quick enough that he only ha dto remove the fill for 1 month and it went back in shape. I now have a fill again. Good luck, I think that the positives, outweigh the negative. Karen

Hurrah, great NSV,isn't it! I, also, giv ethem to Goodwill, or Salvation Army. My church has a 2nd hand clothing store, too. So, I hardly ever have any that don't fit in my closet. I don't want to ever have them fit again!!!!Karen -
Crystal Light??
kll724 replied to Hopes of a Dream!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really enjoy Crystal Light Lemonade flavor. I add some lemons to a gallon jug and drink up. I share with family and friends, everyone seems to enjoy it. Karen -
Yay for NSV!!!!Karen

Ahhhh I've forgotten how good eating can be :)
kll724 replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yes, I know exactly how you felt! I have had to have fill removed 3x. 2x it was the whole fill for a month. One time it was just 1/2 cc. Right now, I am in maintenace, and have nothing in my band,a s I had a slip. (which you should be glad you didn't get). Just keep up with what you are doing, you should be fine. Karen -
Things you learned after LB install that you discovered afterward.

B=productive burping..ie, not vomit, but spitting up with lots of mucus stuff, too! Hard to explain unless you experience it! I have learned that I enjoy rubbing my port, too! How weird is that? It sticks out especially in the pool! I guess once you meet goal, it is more prominent. Karen -
How Many Fills Did It Take YOU to Hit the Green Zone?
kll724 replied to KimPJames's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Maintenance is harder than loosing for me! I had 3 fills over a 9 month period. Then a unfill for a month and 2 more fills. I then had 3 months okay, and now am unfilled again due to a slip. Be careful, slips happen when you least expect them. I had mine when I had GERD for several weeks. I did not spend any nights for 3 weeks with out waking to spit every hour. Good luck Karen -
Agh so sick of fills and unfills!
kll724 replied to koreabandster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You sound like you are at the top of your fill level. I guess that he difference in .2 and .5 is extreme for you. Hang in there. I was full at 5.cc. I am now empty due to a slip. Hopefully you will get to goal without further problems. Karen -
Your band is there t help. It doesn't take all your desire to eat away. I have had many times where my desire was more than my stomach and band would allow. You must eat slower, then the band can do its work. If you eat real fast, the food might get stuck. Calm down, follow the rules and you should do fine! Karen

Am I in the Green Zone or over filled??
kll724 replied to Purpleshell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You sound like you are just right! I have read on here that TOM causes tightening. I would wait until after to see what happens. (I am past TOM stage). Best of luck to you. Karen -
I don't know what to say. I have been unfilled for 3 weeks. It has not been the easiest to say the least. I was like you, not eating, only drinking smoothies to get my calories and vitamins. I am now able to eat. I have learned to control what I put into my mouth. You have done a great job. I pray that you can continue to do it. My surgeon is making me wait for at least 1 month. I hope that the 1 month is enough! Bless, you. Karen

Bandster Basics & A Day in The LIfe
kll724 replied to Makulafamy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! is all I have to say. You certainly are wise on this subject. You look great and are a great example of what can be accomplished with the band. Congrats on your success. Karen -
My favorite restaurant is "Catfish Country" here in Lakeland, Florida. I order the baked haddock and sweet potato. I cut off 1/4 of it for myself. I box up the rest for my husband who doesn't enjoy eating out. He and I both have plenty to eat. I really enjoy sweet potatoes because they get real oft, and easy to get out of the skin. As the Catfish Country serves all you can eat cole slaw with the meal, that is plenty for me. Hope that gives you some idea what you can eat, too! Karen

I agree with what everyone is saying! You are doing good, and you are down 35 lbs. I know the feeling, about seeing pics of yourself, and saying GROSS! But, imagine if you hadn't lost any of your weight! Take your NSV's as you can, and be proud of what you have lost. Karen -
I am 62 years old, and happily had my lapband done in Oct. 2009. There are quite a few ladies and some gents who have had their lapband done in their late 50's and 60's. Welcome to the boards. We are pretty friendly but not a real active board anymore. I have met goal and am in maintenance. I will try to be helpful, but still stumble myself, at times. Karen

swelling on band
kll724 replied to hopeful2 be slim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally, I agree it was too soon for most exercize. You probably shouldn't do anything but walking, maybe some jogging. Nothing strenuous, and no sit ups, palaties or anything like that until after approved by your surgeon, probably after 6 week check up. Karen -
Wow! I must say, I wouldn't have known that you are the same woman. You look great. That is so cute that your man likes to share your dinner with you. Does he know about your WLS? I hope that this is the start of something good for you. Congrats, again! Karen

HI Kayleigh, !st thing is to go to a seminar. (at least that is what most folks do). Then they will tell you what they need you to do. The surgeon's office will contact your insurance t determine what their restrictions are. Mine and my son's both required a 6 month dr monitored diet. My daughter's insurance required no such diet. Good luck Karen. By the way, I was excactly your height and weight when I started 2 years ago. I am now 135. You can do it too!

I cried for the first time...
kll724 replied to pinknsassyemt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HI Ya'll, I, also, will sometime tell folks if they ask, that I have had weight loss surgery. others, I tell that I have worked hard through diet and excersize. Some folks do look down on us that have had wls. I have, also, referred 2 people to my surgeon and made close friends from their office. Good luck and keep a "stiff upper lip". Love ya'all. Karen -
Yes, and when you have been over 200 lbs for 30 years, onederland is the place to be!!Karen

Ladies you both look great! Karen

I think it is most likely gas. I had real bad gas after my surgery. If gas-x and walking helps, it is probably gas. I used to get my stomach growling(in church when every one else was quite), but it wasn't hunger. You will be okay, just follow your surgeon's rules, drink lots of liquids. I found that pop-cycles were especially good for me. Good luck, Karen

Just made it under 200...exciting!!

Congrats on your onderland! You will make goal before you know it. Karen -
My PCP suggested reducing my bp meds to 1/2 of what I had. So, for 2 weeks I took the lower dosage. They said to monitor my pressure. I did that and it was really good. So, I came off meds, but then my pressure read 155/90, so I went back on. My pressure seems to drop real low when I take a whole med. So, I now, cut my bp med to a 1/2 of the lower prescripton, and it stays good. I am scared to come off altogether, as it creeps back up to high. I know this sounds weird, but that is how my pressure has been. I have lost 100lbs and am in maintenance, now. Karen

Dear Whaleswife, I hate to say this, but it sounds like you may have a slipped band. I, also, went through reflux and vomiting mucus at night. It got so bad, that my husband was being kept up half the night, too. I went to get 1 cc out, and the surgeon took it all out for a month. It is hard, don't let anyone tell you different. i thought after 18 months, I would be disciplined enough not to gain. I have gained, but I sleep and can eat again. Please, for your health, see your doctor. I only have 1 month of this no fill to see if my band is okay. if not, he may have to do surgery again. Good luck! Karen
