It does not sound like you have a slip. It sounds as if you are getting stuck, or that the back pain you experience, is the band way of telling you that you are full and to stop eating. Try to follow your surgeon's instructions as far as diet, etc. I know it is hard, but i is necessary. Good luck!

The last fill I got, I did feel the stick. It is so quick and usually numb. I guess the surgeon didn't wait for the numbness to start. Anyway, usually I don't feel anything. It is not as bad as the video makes it look! The largeness of the needle is to put the fill into you or to back out what needs to be backed out. Karen.

Sure, go out, and if its sit down, ask for doggie boxes. You can share the remains at home. Or, if you go to a buffet, just get a little of what you like. I am having dinner at home. I will cook a ham, potato salad, anti-past, deviled eggs. I won't take too much of anything, but always eat off a dessert plate. I am, also, making a gluten free breakfast casserole for before church, as we won't go until 11:00am. You can do it. It is not the end of living, you know! Karen

That comment from your co-worked was so rude, but she probably didn't think before she spoke. Anyway, nice comment from the student, especially since you didn't have him in a class. Keep up the good work, you probably could have said, "Well don't bother, I probably wouldn't get much use out of it anyway, since I am still loosing weight!" HAHA! Karen

I need help from people who have experienced band slippage
kll724 replied to rmaxwell01's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When I experienced my slip, I had reflux and coughed all night long. I couldn't eat anything after 5 pm, or I was up all night long. I had to have a complete unfill for 1 month and now have 2.5 cc in my band, and can eat but am loosing again, and no REFLUX!! Good luck, you sound okay. Karen -
Is it all worth it to you??
kll724 replied to juzmejnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Absolutely! I was tired of being the "fat lady" in the choir. I now have church people don't remember me fat. I guess the biggest complement I've gotten was from a lady new to my church who thought I was my daughter-in-laws mother because we are both tall and thin. She is 4'10". I am only 5'3", so tall for her. But my d-i-l is 5'8". My own daughter is only 4'10", but my son is 285 and 5'10". Good luck on whatever you decide. This was my best choice, and my son has started the process to be banded, hopefully, this summer. -
Yes, oh my, I had to get rid of all my old shoes. They were way big. I was wearing 8 1/2 w, now wearing 7 1/2 m. They are easier to find and can find pairs in them just like clothes.

I, also, used a baby fork and spoon when 1st starting out. Now, I use a dessert fork, always. I am making sure to chew well, as I have had a slip. Just make sure to chew.

I had taken off my clothes, when my husband said, your overhang(on stomach) is going down, hardly there now. "Turn around, let me see your backside, wow! The pool is really tightening you up." That was a great feeling, as I have lost 104 lbs and am a little flabby still.

I can feel you all! I, also, never leave the house without makeup, and like to look well dressed. Unfortunatly, I have a new addiction, and my closet is showing it! But, I think my husband loves to help me shop, now. My daughter-in-law wanted to go shopping for an Easter dress, and my son didn't feel like it. He said, "Mom, would you go with her?" My husband piped in and told him, that he needed to go himself, as my husband takes me to consult! We, in fact, are going out this afternoon to shop. Gotta love it!

Hi Carla, you are doing great. I have lost 104, and am happier than I have been in years. Keep up the good work and take care of your body. Karen

I hope that I did not scare you off! Just my reality! I live and enjoy smoothies about 1-2 times a day. I only eat one meal of real food, but that is out of choice. My smoothies consist of Protein powder and fruits. Not everyone does that. THIS IS MY CHOICE!!!Karen

Good for you, noturningbackII. I wish I could say the same. I have been stuck more than I care to count. The very 1st time, it was when I was at an anniversary party for my priest. How embarrassing is that? My son had to tak eme home, and I was sliming and barfing all over the place. (Sorry for being graphic). Most times, I am just stuck and can get it up, or down. I hoe that you can live without the problem. I am not a good chewer, but after 18 months am finally learning to chew, chew, chew. But, some things are not my friend. I can't eat salad greens, they get stuck, and have to either be spit out or else! Good luck, my friends!! Karen PS::But I am down 104 lbs, and happier than I can say. I am normal weight and can shop normal stores for clothes. I have an new addiction, and it is SHOPPING!!!

Are you satisfied with "Average" weight loss???
kll724 replied to bambam31's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have reached 100% of my goal, and am in maintenance, now. Surgeon wanted me to get to 150, I am 140 give or take 1-2 lbs. Now, he doesn't want me to get below 140. At 150 I was in the overweight stage, I wanted to be in the normal, too! Karen -
How much fill to hit your sweet spot?
kll724 replied to Appmax54321's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Me too! But now I am in maintenance, I have 2.5cc to stop weight loss. Karen -

I have had my band for 18 months. I have donated 2x, but last month my iron was too low. It doesn't bother me, just make sure that you remember to take their offer of liquids and snack. I took "Gatorade" when offered a drink. I thought that the high sugar, etc would help me rebuild my strength after giving. I am not sure that I would give right away, you should check with your surgeon. Karen

Bridesmaid Blues- What size do I order????
kll724 replied to happytobemefinally's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
5 months is not so excessive, they put the summer styles out in the winter and early spring. But, back to topic, I would, also, order 1 size smaller, then you can have the dress taken in if you need it. My daughter-in-law wore a strapless that we had to pin the day of the wedding, she had pre-wedding jitters and lost several pounds form the last sizing to the wedding day. Buy some big pin, and hope for the best! Karen -
Seeing a councilor during long 100 +lb journey
kll724 replied to stratcat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not done the councilor bit, mostly because I am afraid to delve into stuff I don't want to bring up. If I felt that she/he would only touch the eating part, I would see one. I am like Jaquie, I know that I have other problems which cause me to to over eat. I can control what goes into my mouth. I can work out most of my problems by thinking them out, and praying. I do belive in the power of prayer. But, I think, if you feel that you need to talk to someone, go for it! Karen -
Only times I have experianced this is if I am on a clear liquid diet. Like the last 2 days, I have had an empty band due to slip and then my surgeon put in 2.5 cc. I have been on a clear liquid diet. I have had 1 case of needing to rush to the restroom, because my bowels were letting loose. The above person was right, mostly dumping happens with gastric bypass, one resaon I chose not to undergo the same. Karen
