Help! Port shows thru??
kll724 replied to LisainAZ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Port is above your waist under your breast. Mine only pops out when I am in the pool. Not sure what to tell you, if you are young and want to wear a bikini. I have a private pool in my backyard. Everyone in my pool knows about my lapband.Good luck -
How much "fill" is a typical first fill????
kll724 replied to slm2007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have an 11cc realize band. I had 3 the 1st fill and then the next was 2. I have never gone above 5 cc in my band. I am now at 2.5. I have had a slip and had to have fill removed 2x. If you are too tight, you can't eat and might have a lot of burping, pb'ing and coughing, which can cause a slip. God luck. Karen -
As I was reading this, that is exactly how I feel. Not just pain in my chest, but feeling that I can't breath, too! I, however, once I start burping. know that the next thing is that I will have to pb. Usually after I pb, I feel much better.

I Can Feel My Band Through My Abdomen
kll724 replied to neennicole's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Strange, I can feel the port, and sometimes it is very noticeable, especially in the swimming pool. But, I can't feel the band! -
Congrats to you all who have made the decision to get the band. It works if you remember that this is a tool for loosing weight. Good luck to all and have a great surgery. Karen

Confessions of a Bander Who Knows Better
kll724 replied to mrsebg's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You can lose the weight, again. You have a great husband to support you, who has been through the weight loss and the other loss with you. You, also, have the support of your co-workers. I have noticed all the nurses at my surgeon's office have been banded, too. Go for it! Good luck. Karen -
Wow! That's nice. I didn't have any closets to shop in; I had moved in 2006 and cleaned out my closets. I shopped in my daughter's closet, tho'. Goodluck. Karen

How long does swelling tak to go down after a fill?
kll724 replied to kblower's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It sounds like you are too tight, now! You should be able to drink Clear Liquids and then after 2 days full liquids. At least that is what my surgeon prescribes. After that you shoul dbe able to eat. I would call your surgeon and get a slight unfill. Karen -
Nothing that I am aware of. I am 18 months post op. I have been going to my surgeon regularly. I think he just does follow ups in his office. He has a machine to do barium swallows and other stuff right there. Karen

Do you ever get to where you don't feel like a fat person?
kll724 replied to southernrootslbc's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Agreed, I am, from what others tell me, looking good. I still feel fat but not the fat I was. I know that I have an overhang in the front due to hysterectomy and loosing stomach muscle many years ago. Many people have tummy tucks, I choose not too. I can hide my tummy with clothes, but see it when I am nude. You will get past the feeling of being the "fatgirl". That was my motivator. I was tired of being the "fat lady" in the choir in my new church. Best of luck. Karen -
Your band should not empty. If it does, there is a leak. Mine always has in it what the surgeon put there. He removes all and then puts it back in. He verifies what is in there when he fills me. You are going very quickly to a full band. I only have 2.5 in my band right now. The most I have had is 5 in a 11 cc band. Be careful to not have a slippage problem..Good luck. Karen
-
Be careful, sounds like reflux from a slip for you. Been there, done that. The others I am not sure what to say, except, check with your surgeons. Karen

You are doing great! 45 lbs in 3 months is magnificent. I never lost that good. Keep up and you will loose. Maybe vary your calories, and exercise some. Drink lots of water, too! Karen

Hi Christie, I am Karen. I am going to be 64 in July. I live in Florida. I am retired. I am, also, active in my church. I have 2 grandkids that live next door. My whole family, 2 kids, live on the same block. It can be exciting, but sometimes, the excitement, I don't need. I am 18 months in, so ask questions or advise, as needed. My new "addiction", to replace food, is shopping for a new wardrobe. Yipes! Food I can afford better than clothes, but clothes is more fun! Best of luck on your journey. Karen

HI, and welcome. I am 18 months in, and feeling wonderful. I am at goal, and doing maintenance. It is, sometimes, harder than loosing. Best of luck to you! KAren

Once I got a fill, my port was round like a ping pong ball, too! Mine, also, sticks out when I am in the swimming pool. Its kinda funny.

Hurray! And happy Bandiversary. You did it, and you are an inspiration to all! Karen

Questions for anyone at any stage out
kll724 replied to Auroraishere's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have no regrets. It has been 18 months since my surgery. The pain from gas was a surprise. I walked to relieve it. Also, took Gas-x strips(the kind that melt in your mouth). I am retired, but resumed normal activities, other than heavy work, after about 2 weeks. Good luck to you. It was the best decision I have made in a long time. Karen -
Just wanted to add a good luck ,and take care, the pain does go away. Follow what the others have said. Be gentle with yourself, you just had major surgery. Good luck to all you newbies. Karen.

I know bread is going to be tough, but Is Pizza out of the question?
kll724 replied to Wheeler5051's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My very first case of sliming, and pb'ing was from pizza. I didn't even have a fill by then. be very careful. Some folks can eat pizza. Others can't. Good luck to you. Karen -
Aww! Great NSV. I know that you must have had a secret smile all day long. Good for you. Karen
-
Hurrah! I know that is a great pick me up for you. Great NSV! Goodluck on your new position, too! Karen

Well, in Florida, we have a dept store name of Beall's. They are always having sales. But, I think Kohl's or Macy's are like that too. Target is okay, but not my style. I guess 'cause I am 62 years old. But, good luck. Also, I like to shop Salvation Army. They have a section that carries the upscale dresses and blouses in my store. I have gotten some real nice clothes for little prices. For under garments, I treat myself to Victoria Secret, because can! I was so long that I couldn't. Good luck. Karen

Was anyone else hungry the day of surgery?
kll724 replied to Wheeler5051's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gee, I thought I was abnormal. I was, also, hungry. I ate everything they put on my tray, (not much), and wanted more. My room mate, on the other hand, only played with her food. I guess as we all know, people are different. Our appetites are too! Good luck on your journey. Karen -
You are still in the healing process. Anything can affect the port right now. If you accidently used it to prop something you were carrying on it, (I did that, owie), Anyway, just treat yourself a little gentley, as I said, you are only 3 weeks out and still healing. Karen
