No, I, also, took it before surgery for my 6 month diet. I lost 35 lbs before the lapband. But, I did not continue afterwards, as my surgeon only wanted me on it for 6 months. Not sure if your surgeon would recommend it for post surgery or not. Check if you think you need it. Good luck, Karen

How are you doing? I had to have .5cc removed from a fill I had done on Wed. I lost 10 lbs in 5 days, because I also could not keep anything down. (then on Friday had a most "helpful" nurse suggest I call later when I said I had pb'd on a smoothy). I am so much better now, but still on liquids as surgeon said I am really swollen. Good luck to you. Hope that everything turns out ok. Karen

Good luck to the both of you. It is 4 days pat your banding. Hope that you are starting to feel more normal. Karen

Hurray! Jacquie! God is good! Karen

I don't remember if I drank it pre-op. I didn't get it in the hospital, tho' But I, also, drink it at home. I use a little skim in it. I drink regular coffee, 1 or 2 in the am. I can't give it up; it gets me through the day. My bad! Karen

Wow! Can't believe that you all don't get restriction with the band filled to over 9 cc. Mine is currently at 4 1/2 cc up from 2 1/2, I am so tight from fill yesterday, hoping that it loosens after swelling. I can feel the liquid sitting there just waiting to go down. I am not really happy right now, but hoping for relief once the swelling is gone! Goodluck for restriction I certainly have it now! Karen

I think the funniest NSV I ever had was looking in a mirror at the grocery store, and not realizing that it was me in the mirror! This was, also, the day my daughter looked down an aisle and didn't see me, but I was there! Karen

I got a fill yesterday and I'm so, so tight....

I agree! Karen -
How far apart do you get fills?
kll724 replied to Wheeler5051's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Heather. It is not the time between as much as listening to your body. My surgeon always asks me if I feel I need a fill. I had one yesterday. I was very tight. I can only sip liquids for now. My surgeon requires 2 days clear and 2 days full liquids. After yesterday, I can understand why. So, as I and heather said, just listen to your bands, if you are experencing hunger too soon, you would need a fill. Karen -
Yay! That is a major goal! Congrats. Karen

Obediently Introducting Myself
kll724 replied to DL88's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Dl88, I am not a male. But have been on this journey for 2 years. I have had the good and the bad. I am in maintenance, now. That is tougher, to me, than loosing the weight. I have been yoyoing, but am back on track. Good luck in your weight loss journey. And your journey for a NEW life style. Karen -
I agree. take it from a lady that a slippage. You sound like you need to relax and take a light diet for a few days to let the swelling go down. Good luck, Karen

Yay! That is one great NSV. You will look great in your brother's wedding pictures. Karen

Is or was anyones post op diet this extreme?
kll724 replied to FLMichael's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Michael, congrats on your new life! Yes, my diet was that extreme. Infact, my surgeon requires 2 days clear and 2 days full liquid after a fill. I was hungry, too! It feels like forever, but you can get through it if you want to. Try protein Water, I think Special K makes some. Good luck. I am also in Florida. I have been banded for 18 months. Did you have Dr. Grossbard, by the way? Karen -
I totally agree with Dave. I, also, have Facebook. If someone asks me about weight loss, it is in a message. And only 2 or 3 know. They are the same ones that have asked me, many have commented, but few know the true weight loss story. Only my true real life friends and family are aware of my surgery. I have asked and commented to one of them, who have the gastric bypass. She was one of my inspirations. Karen

Could it be slime and if so how to get rid of
kll724 replied to tnt21705's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Go in for a slight unfill. That should do it fine. Make sure that you are following your surgeon's guide lines about eating after a fill. Good luck. Karen -

Good luck with your journey to a new you! Karen -
I guess I am unusual. My port is to the left and about 4 inches above my belly button. It is well below the bra line, too. I can wear an underwire without problem. I am 18 months out, but even 1 month out I had no trouble. Karen

Yes, mine went from 8 1/2 w to 7 1/2 m. I haven't wore 7 1/2 in many years. I 1st noticed last Oct. I was going to my father's funeral, and the shoes I brought kept going clicking on the floor because they were way to big. I had to run to Walmart,(very small town), to get something to wear. I 1st tried 8's then 7 1/2. I am quite comfortable in them. May have to try 7's this year though. Good luck on your weight loss and shoe size! Karen
-
Wow! Congrats to you. I haven't tried 11's yet, did wear 13's. I don't like the odd sizes tho' they run short waisted or rather jeans are all hip huggers. Yuck! But good for you! Karen

Hi Kristi, I, also, go to Florida Obesity Surgical Associates in Zephyrhills.Love the office, a lot of the staff, including Dr Grossbard, have had the surgery. Hope that you enjoy your journey as much as I have. My husband is a scaredy cat too! However, scared as he is, he is supportive of me. I just wish that I could get him to do it. HIsd famliy have had some problems being put on full life support, so he has his reasons! Good luck to you all. Karen -
I know this may be a lot to ask but can you guys help me...
kll724 replied to glam_gabbi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds to me as if you are too tight. If you are still having a problem, I would get 1/2 cc removed. My office doesn't charge me if I have it done within a week. You should, also, try stay on clear liquids for a day or 2. My surgeon wants clear for 2 days, then full for 2 days. No mushies or food until 5 day. Hope that helps. Good luck Karen
