    eating before a fill?

I am not told anything about before a fill. I, also, recommend having something to eat because I am 48 hrs clear an 48 hrs full liquids after the fills. I would be starving by the time I got to eat. Goodluck. Karen
  2. Good luck to a new start and new you!

    Ok This Sucks!!

Try drinking protein water, I think its is special K. Also, I drank Gator Aid. Both should be able to not just replenish your electrolytes, but also give you some needed calories. Good luck. Karen
  4. I am, also, a success. I have lost all of my excess weight and am healthier than I have been in 35 years. I can wear cute clothes, again. I can buy them at regular stores and not try them on. Before loosing the weight, I bought at Lane Bryant catalog, and then worried that the clothes would be too tight. I have not had the easiest time, but loosing weight is not for the weak. It takes won't power(I won't eat that!). There is NO magic potion. Not banding, gastric bypass or sleeve. The surgeries, which ever you choose are tools to help you loose weight. How successful you are is up to YOU! Good luck. Karen PS:My stats=start 244/size 22w, current 140/size 8. BMI=was 43/currently 24.8
  5. Looking good. You are doing a great job. Karen

Yay! You will be at onederland before you know it. Good for you. Karen

    Spewing during the night

I agree, call for a slight unfill. I had to do the same thing. I was a bit too tight, and as soon as he took out some, I have not had this problem since. Good luck. Karen PS:my surgeon was totally willing to follow my instructions, he said you know both your band and your body!
  8. All you "senior citizens" there is a nice article in this months AARP newspaper. It tells a tale of a woman who was taking 400 units of insulin a day and she is down to 10 units after surgery. I am not sure which she had, but the article talks about both lapband and gastric bypass. Karen
  9. I am an interested by-stander. I used to live in Maryland and now live in Florida. My son was in Reston. I don't blame you for being upset. I wouldn't want to have to travel from Reston, Va to Rockville, Maryland to get a follow-up. Sounds like this man "Phil" is doing his best by you and the Virginia patients. (by the way, I drive 1 hr for my fills, but not in Washington beltway traffic). Good luck. Karen

    Me...before and after

You look amazing, and smaller than size 12. But, I guess you carry it well. I would never have guessed the starting size either. Congratulations on your loss and new life! Karen

    Learn how to spell

I had to quote this because I really loved the whole message. You are definitely culturally aware, probably more so, than most Americans are. Great posts. I agree with everyone, spelling is important. My granddaughter is getting out of kindergarten in 4 days. They have not expressed spelling this year, just writing skills. I believe, next year, her school will work on spelling along with the writing skills. Keep up, I have enjoyed this discussion. Karen
  12. yes, I, also, had a slippage. I am ok, now. The surgeon removed everything for a month. I did gain a little bit, but once the liquid was, gradually, put back in, I was able to loose it all and then some. You should be ok, too! But, have patience with your doctor's office and get a fill and visit when needed. Karen

    Realize Band Forum?! lol!

I have a Realize band, but wasn't aware of the other site. Doesn't matter, I probably would stay here anyway. Love this site, and the band. Karen
  14. Girlie, You have such a great attitude. I am sure that you will be a success story on here, too! Good luck on your Monday surgery. Keep us informed of your progress. Karen

    Should I get a fill???

Most likely, your doctor will decide for you that you don't need a fill, yet. There are several people on the forums who have lost and never had a fill. They, and you, are the lucky ones to achieve restriction adn full feelings without any further help. Be glad. Good luck, Karen

It's hard to be the cook...

I cook breakfast everyday for my "skinny" daughter-in-law who burns water. I kind of enjoy it. I don't eat any of what I cook, but watch as she devours everything in sight. She has high matabolism and is always hungry. (She probably eat like the above Marine)! Anyway, I find now that I dont eat, much more fun. Don't know why, sometimes I don't feel like cooking for anyone and want to hide. Good luck with you. Karen
  18. I am sure that he will be just as happy or more to see a skinny you as a fatty you. It is not as if you kept it all secret. Good luck! Buy a new dress and meet him in it. It will hide any loose skin until the big "show"! Karen
  19. The thing that I answered "Why the lapband?" Because I get bored with dieting, and gain the weight back. Unless I eat around teh band, or something of that sort. it won't allow me to gain my weight back. It is a tool. It is the best tool that this lady has found in 44 years. I am 18 month sout, have lost all my desired weight, and am in n maintanance. Good luck, you are doing great. Ask yourself, "would I have been this far without the lapband?" This should be your answer. Karen
  20. I seem to remember that i had to clean out the night before. I can't imagine splurging on a bunch of food and then cleaning out! Yuck!!! Do the right thing, that you know is best. Good luck. Karen

    Able to eat normally

For a lot of people, this is normal. I had my 1st pb experience without a fill. I was trying to eat pizza at a Christmas party the school had after a performance. It was not a nice experience. Be careful, it can happen to you. Good luck, however. Karen
  22. 1st time I had a drink, I only needed 1 and felt I couldn't drive myself home. What a surprise that was. It hit me HARD. You can probably drink a little as a social drinker, but beware of calories, as others have said. Karen
  23. I had the same type of instructions. The 2nd part was so much easier than the 1st 2 weeks of Clear Liquids. Full liquids is so much easier. You can do it! Good luck. Karen

    Protein Sources

Peanut butter is good for protein, too! I add it to my smoothies. Karen
