Congratulations to both of you hard losing ladies! The 1st steps are the hardest! Karen

I had gas pains in my left shoulder. If that is your pain, take gas-x tabs. They work great. Also, walk around. Laying/sitting is not too good at this pint. The more you walk, the better healing! Good luck, congrats on your decision. Karen

Congrats, that milestone is a major one. I remember how I felt when I hit that mark HurraY!!!! Karen

Since being banded, do you notice how much people eat more??
kll724 replied to screeden's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Absolutely! When I see the commercials for a place like Olive Garden, and there bottomless Pasta bowls, etc. I say to myself, how could anyone ask for a 2nd dish? I see these huge plates going to peoples tables at restaurants and see the size of the people ordering them and think a 'that was me!" I was never one to overload my plates at buffets, but people want to get their moneys worth. I don't go to buffets anymore. I am taking mu 1st cruise in November, and both my son and I have had lapband surgery. The cruise line is giving us a complementary buffet when we board. Ugh! Oh well will make the best of it. we board around noon. Love this topic! Karen What about "Checkers", never been to In-Out burger. Checkers and "The King" both have these monster burgers! -
Yeah....I screwed up. But I'm not discouraged AT ALL.

Hurray! Good luck to you . Definitely sounds like you needed something to be adjusted in your system, if you need to sleep so much. My daughter has the same trouble. She takes many vitamins, too! She can tell when her system is off, she will need a nap. She was. also, an afternoon napper. Best wishes. Karen -
New senior member just saying Hi
kll724 replied to SassySenior's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Katie, I was 61 when I started this "path to a new life". I had 100 lbs to lose. I did it! But, I have seen others on here who have successfully lost 200+ lbs. You are already changing the way you eat, so I think that you can be successful. Good luck. 1000 miles starts with the 1st step!!! Karen -
You look good! Maybe you need a new hair color or style. I changed my style after I lost 50 lbs, now at 100 bs it still is good. My husband says I look 10 years younger with the weight loss. Of course, I use to wear my hair in the "granny bun". My grand daughter wasn't sure she liked my hair, it didn't look like a grandma anymore! She asked her daddy why grandma's hair isn't grey like most grandma's are. (I do not color it!). Karen

I get cold a lot, too! I have been known to sit in the car in Phoenix, Arizona in August with the windows up, just to warm up. I have lost 100 lbs. I have been reminded that that makes a big difference. Karen

I can agree to both points of view. I only tell people I know well. But, my friend had surgery and at the Psych told her to tell everyone to help her keep on track. My daughter-in-law took it upon herself to tell folks that through exercise and diet I lost my 100 lbs. Well sort of, but I did have lapband, too! A neighbor that I did not know heard from another neighbor that I had lost a lot of weight. He aske me about it as he has about 50-70 lbs to lose. I told him about the lapabnd. So, whatever you are comfortable with. It is not a lie, you have had to watch what you eat, and exercise!!!! Karen

I had a "Marie Calander" single serving chicken pot pie for dinner on Sunday. It was 650 calories, yipes!! I ate part of it, let my husband finish his and mine. I enjoyed it, and didn't feel too guilty. I went bowling that evening, so worked a lot of it off! Good luck on your journey to the rest of your life! Karen
-
This is exactly what I wanted to say! You won't lose everyday or even every week. But, you have done awesome, so far. Your weight loss will continue, just slower, now! Good Luck. Karen

I can't eat a salad! Most folks I talk to can. I can't do either lettuce, or skin of tomatoes. I stay away from it, mostly. I can eat hard breads, but I take very small bites. I tried to eat ministroni soup once from Olive Garden, it was not a pretty sight! People are different, kind of have to test your band. Good luck, Karen
-
You are very lucky! My doctor says 2 days clear liquids, 2 days full liquids after fills. I think that you can eat yogurt, scrabbled eggs, and creamy soups. Cream of wheat is better for you than oatmeal, by the way. I had trouble with oatmeal when I was on mushies. Good luck, follow doctors orders. Karen

Why did you choose the lap band??
kll724 replied to I-wanna-be-a-loser's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I chose lapband, because I get bored with dieting! Usually, I would lose about 20-30 lbs, and get bored. It might stay off, but gradually gain it back. I never, in all my dieting met goal. Only once did I actually drop below 200 in the last 20 years. I thought I looked good then. I weighed 188 but once again gained it and more back. I now weigh 145 give or take 2 lbs. I am at goal! If I get bored, my band remind me!!!!I had my surgery almost 2 years ago, (Oct. 30,2009). I am happy with the new me! Good luck on your decision. BY the way, my family was so happy with my results, my son has had it done too. He is 36, had 10 lbs to lose and has lost 55lbs so far. he had surgery on August 5, 2011. You too can do it, you are young. Karen -
I book marked it, so I can follow your blog. I totally agree with the last entry about just making a mistake and starting over, again Karen
-
This is all so true. I think that inner "fat person" would like to escape. I always have the diet thing on my mind. Karen
-
Yeah! for NSV's. You deserve that dress, too! Karen

Start by eating smaller portions. Eat off a desert/salad plate. Use a smaller fork, I use a salad size fork. You have kids, try eating with one of their special forks. It will not only slow you down, but it will make you aware of your bite size! good luck. Karen

Still following your blog! Do you have a direct access to it? I have to find this title to access it. Today it was on the 2nd page. Can't believe you slept that late; my husband would be so proud of you. Karen

I think I almost died! Or it felt that way, anyway :(
kll724 replied to Marla290's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmmm! Different things from diferent surgeon's office. My nutritionist was the one to suggest keeping pineapple juice available. I experience either it goes down, or all comes up after using it. I think mostly it comes up! You are right, we all have our stories. Good luck, Karen -
never know when I can keep something down
kll724 replied to halesredrose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Interesting comments, here! I guess that I concur. I keep mine so that I can eat, but not too much. I, like Xaiver, am on maintenance. But, if I go up a few lbs, I am no longer in the normal range. I try to eat small melas and drink lots of smoothies to get enough protein. Karen -
mucus and coughing at night
kll724 replied to lindalee1215's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Could be that you are eating too late. If I eat after 8pm,l I get the same thing. But, if I have nothing to eat, then I am fine. Try to stop eating eary in the evening, if that is the problem. Karen -
Yeah! Maura, good to go! Karen

Hi Julia, Read your blog. Was great! I have never tried to do one. I used to write as young girl(many moons ago!) I; also, was banded in 2009. Mine was Oct. 30, 2009. I have met goal, but maintenance is a bugger for me. Anyway, I will follow your blog. Friend me if you like. Karen
