What were your limitations after surgery?
kll724 replied to Michele1975's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk. Probably your 2 year old will be out! I had that restriction until my follow up appointment, about 1-2 weeks. -
God bless you! I believe, like other on here, that God sent you to the lapband surgeon for a reason. He knows that you, and the rest of us, need help from he medical field for us to lose weight. Have peace with you and your Dad, and feel that this is the chance God is giving you! Karen

I think you should have already met your surgeon. I had to have the surgeon's office to do the preliminaries. At the very least, you should have already had your seminar. Do you know who your surgeon is? I started the other way, I guess if you need your PCP to do a referral, then you are on teh right track. Good luck. Karen

I guess he is a skinny person who never had a fat problem in his life. Boo to him! My PCP was all for it,and suggested to my husband that he have it done too. Shame when people let their prejudices determine their opinions. Good luck to you on running around the park! Karen

Does your dr. do fills/unfills in the office or under X-ray?

All my fills are done in the office and he checks my band with the floroscope. Karen -
100+ Positive Reasons to get the Lapband and outcomes
kll724 replied to SkinnyMiniMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having people who didn't know you before, think that you have always been thin! Having men remark to your husband how great you look. Not feeling that everyone remembers you as the "fat" lady in the choir. Able to walk into normal stores and pick out an outfit, take it home and it fits, with out trying it on. Looking good in a bathing suit. Having my PCP show me off to her other Dr friends Not having constant pain in my arthiretic knees -
HELLO fellow bandsters

Hi Katie, I am Karen. I had my surgery 2 years ago, come Sunday, Oct 30. I didn't take anything with me, but had my husband hold my slippers and the hospital gave me a robe and supplies to take home. I had a lot of gas in my shoulder, but had some pain meds and walked alot. I had to spend the night per my insurance coverage. I was up about 6 times during the stay. Sip your drinks and eat the jello if they offer it. I will friend you so you can contact me. Karen

Realize vs Lap-Band
kll724 replied to SaucyBandster's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not get to pick. I am sure that my surgeon uses the 2 different ones, bu the determines which is right. I have the Allergen, lapband in me. Good luck. Karen -
I, totally, agree. Nice try to think he can gain weight in 6 months and then take it off in 6 months. His body will loose, easily. First of all, he is young and fit, right now. 2ndly, he is going to do it all in 1 year! We have been struggling with weight all of our lives. Many of us for decades. I think that it is no different than the celebs who put on "fat" suits to experience the low self esteem and the insults from strangers. Karen

Revision Surgery/Hiatial Hernia Repair
kll724 replied to mujer555's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am recovering from revision surgery.now. I had surgery on Oct. 14. I have just as many incisions, but appears that the surgeon reopened previous scars. I did not experience gas like the 1st surgery. Right now, my biggest complaint is that I have been, and still am on, in liquids. I was on liquids for about 1 week previous to surgery, and now, 2 weeks after. The 1st week was clear liquids. Now, at least, I am on full liquids. I was told that I could not lift anything heavier than 10 lbs, but was able to bowl with my league this last Sunday. My surgeon did not write down that he filled my port at the surgery, so he wanted to give me a fill on Monday, but I declined as I am going on a cruise. I am, now, regretting that decision, as my fill apt is for the Wed before Thanksgiving! And he would not let me wait longer! Anyway, good luck with your revision! Karen -
Understanding the before and after
kll724 replied to medicgipson's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, I agree with B-52. I am not a "health nut". But believe me, when you can walk around the block without pain in your knees and do 30mins to 1 hr on the tread mill and be okay, then it all seems like normal life to you. Yes, there are some folks that run marathons, and perhaps if I was younger I would. But, just feeling better about myself, and being healthy for my family and grandkids is a great motivator. Good luck, and best wishes for your healthier future. Karen -
Good for you. Yes, the healing process feels bad because weight loss might stop. You will do fine, you are motivated, too! Good luck, Karen

For those of you at goal/ long termers
kll724 replied to newstart1972's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I a new to maintenance, too. I keep a loose band, and just had an operation because my band had slipped. My surgeon keeps pretty close watch to make sure I don't gain. If I have the tendency to add a few lbs, he gives me a fill. Goodluck and best wishes! Karen -
What did you have? My surgeon wants me to be on clear liquids for 2 days and full liquids for 2 days following a fill. Maybe you drank too fast as the previous person said. Take it easy, and see what happens today. If you still have a problem, call for slight unfill. God luck, Karen

Yes, my surgeon's office indicate that anytime they stick you, you swell, so they require same as a fill. Hope that helps. Karen
