Yes, gman, I too lived in the North growing up. I was raised in North Dakota. There it only hasn't snowed in July! We were allowed to not go to school if the buses did not make it thru. Blizzards were nothing, usually! It is differnt now! So, I truly was ready to move to Pa mountains(Hazelton, to be exact) after reitrement. But, as previously stated, old people don't like cold or snow! I never thought I would get used to HOT. It is easier than cold. Pools help in summer, so does air conditioning. Our lanais are greatest at this weather! I won't rib you'all anymore, tho'. Come visit, if you like, we love snowbirds here in central Florida! Karen..aka.kll724

I, at the hospital's suggestion, made a living will. Your idea is very good, nsabino, because as others have stated, you never know! Best wishes. Karen..aka.kll724

Shorts and flipflops today! Really sucks to be in Florida! Forgot, picked some weeds yesterday as the grass is green and so are the weeds in my flower bed! My hubby always told me that old people don't like snow. So, even tho' I swore I was moving to the mountains in Pa when I retired, we chose Florida. I like Az as i have lots of family there, but it is way too hot in summer! My kids are here, too!

I ove tilapia, but would never corrupt it with tomatoes and the other stuff! I hope that you enjoyed yours tho'! Karen..aka.kll724

What others said. It is not bad surgery, BUT, it is surgery. They do put you under. Do take it seriously, but also, relax. Best wishes.

Is there any foods that you totally miss?
kll724 replied to jamilyne 102668's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Onion rings! Sometimes I will ask others to buy them, so I can have 1. Sometimes, when I buy fries from Burger King for others, there will be one in the bag, I get it! -
Hi ya'll! We haven't heard from anyone in awhile. Thought I would update. 1st of all, Happy Father's day to all you guys! It sure has been HOT down here. I gues that some of you folks in vacation areas are getting tourists; we here in Lakeland, have seen most of our Snowbirds go home. Its pretty quite here, now. I joined a bowling team to get more exercise and meet new people. We bowl on Sunday nights, so that is this evening. I went to the lapband surgoen's office on wed, and thoguht I needed afill. He said "no fill for you!' So, now, if I want to loose anymore weight, I need to go back to lowering my calorie intake. I admitt, I have been lazy about that recently. I want to loose about 10 lbs, and so I have to eat only 1100 cals a day. I do know what I was snacking on, so it won't be bad, just stay away from triggers!! Well I hope to here from others, best wishes!! Karen

Metamucil to hell and back
kll724 replied to cheryl2586's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Karen - I just picked up some Benefiber yesterday. The jar says two teaspoons three times a day. Do you take it as prescribed, or does it work well on less than three times per day? I pretty much used it like it said. I don't use it anymore, as now I get better results from my magnesium citrate. But, if you need to add fiber to you rdiet, I would just use 2 teaspoons 1x a day. 3x is a little much! Karen..aka.kll724 Thanks, Karen. I need whatever is going to work best in the bathroom! Do you have better results with magnesium? I have a bottle in the cabinet, but the tablets are huge (from pre-band). I use capsules, which can be opened and powered into your mouth if you are afraid they might get stuck. I no longer have toliet problems since using the magnesium. In fact, if you use a little too much, will help clean you out!! Karen..aka.kll724 -

Oh yah! I do not like metamucil! It gets chunky, I have Benefiber, which is easily disolved in Water, or whatever. I don't use fiber anymore, I now, only use magnesium citrate capsules of rhelp with BM. Best wishes, Karen..aka.kll724 -
Last Rites Meal
kll724 replied to Ossama El Maghraby's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I for one did not! I had already reduced my plate and food intake to a desert size plate, and was following the nutrionist guidelines for the size food I should be eating. But, if that is what you feel you want, go for it! Best wsihs on your upcoming surgery! Karen..aka.kll724 -
Had surgery 4 days ago. How long does gas pain last?
kll724 replied to tlynnem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My gas pains stayed for about a week. Walking helps alot. Taking your gas meds, and heating pads, too. I found that the shoulder pain, came about a week into recovery and lasted longest. Best wishes, and congrats on your surgery.Karen..aka.kll724 -
(((hugs))) I don't have answers but wish you best of luck. It does sound related to stress of life changed. Best wishes, Karen..aka.kll724
