How sad for your friend. I wish her Godspeed and good luck. I agree, it has been great for me, too! I never wanted the gastric bypass as I heard bad things about it. I heard the balloon is good, but only lasts for about 6 months and then has to be removed. My PCP said her friend gained all her weight back after she had the balloon removed. It is a tool and has to be worked with as in all weightloss!

Wow, 22 lbs since December. That is fantastic!! Remember that this is for the long run. Don't expect that the weight is going to fly off, you have to work the "tool". Just because you can eat anything, doesn't mean you should eat anything. We chose to have this lapband and not the gastric bypass so that we can control our weight loss and it not control us! Good luck Karen

Keep the faith! You all can do it! Great luck to the 3 of you and everyone else, too! -
Yes I am sure that agents are well aware of weight loss (and gain) pictures! I haven't changed my drivers license photo either, so it shows a fat old lady, haha! Some folks deny that it is me. Ohers, just except it, and tell me I look amazing! Roll with it, you are fine! Karen

I Slipped Up This Week...
kll724 replied to shakey88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, shaem on you(just kidding)! We all slip up, and you have done marvelously in such a short time. Congrats on you successful weight loss. Karen -
I think that she was thanking Alex, because he welcomes all new comers to the forum! My daughter has had the band for over 2 years, she is also, a slow looser. But, she says, she would not have lost any without the help of the band. SHe is smallestshe has been since her early 20's. She is 41 now, and has lost about 50 lbs, but has about 20-40 more to loose. She is happy that she has the band. We all tried WW, she tried La Weightloss, and none worked as well for her! Good luck, hope that you stay strong and keep working the band. Karen

Love this one! All are great, but this made me smile!!

Not sure what youtr surgeon's ofc will want. I know that mine would have us cancel the fill apt. He has never offered anti-biotics, but I have never asked, either! Call in advance if you want to save teh trip. Good luck, Karen. By the way, sometimes cancelling your apt causes you to loose your place in the apt book, which happened to my frined who was sick in Jan.

I'm Back! A Reintroduction ~ Banded For Over 2 Years & At Goal!
kll724 replied to Lap Band Gal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I was banded on Oct 30, 2009. I have been in maintenance for awhile, now, too! I find maintenance tough. Loosing was hard, but boy, I can tell you, for me, I find this even tougher. I have had "the good, the bad and the ugly,"too. Welcome back and glad to have you visit again. Karen -
Best wishes! All I can advise you is walk as much as you are able to releave gas! Karen

Protein Drinks Causing Stomachache...ugh!!!!:(
kll724 replied to N3wm32012's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You wil probably be running to the restroom from liquids in, liquids out! The 1st few days on liquids will clean you out!! After you come off, you might slow down, but other than that you should loose weight, okay. Karen -
A lot of people in the US, have surgery in Mexico on Friday, and home after the weekend. So you should be good after a few days. Good luck, Karen

Yay For Non Scale Victories!
kll724 replied to Holly Dolly's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Great NSV Holly, I too love them! You are doing great! Karen -
A lot of people think of it as a quick fix, and not a lifetime commitment! Just be a friend if she chooses to have lapband, when she needs you, be there! Good luck to you and her! Karen

Can 1 Cc Really Make That Much Of A Difference?
kll724 replied to nancyginnm's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What they said! Yes, it can make a big difference. Maybe a cup of soup is too much! Sometimes, 1/2 a cup is enough. But, if you are having trouble eating and drinking you might need a slight unfill! Karen -
Usually, walking is permitted, Actully, walking is recommened to rid yourself of gas! I am not sure that walking the length of a movie will be okay the 1st few weeks, tho'. You will probably have to take it slowly for a while. As far as healing, you may take a longer while if he has to fix a hernia. Ask your surgeon any questions concerning healing, out of work, etc. Good luck on you journey to a "new" you. Karen

Date...help With Dinner Decision??
kll724 replied to Papillon Princess's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would order some fish and salad. Or go with an appetizer, as the op said. If he asks, say that you are dieting. You don't have to say that you have a band, unless you feel comfortable doing so! Good luck, Karen -
I 've had the same problem since Oct when I had my revision due to sliappage. I finally am back at 5 cc and seem to be okay, unless I eat something I should not. I am loosing again, and that is my main thing, as I had gained about 10 lbs between OCt and Jan. Good luck to us all , Karen
-
Wow! you look amazing! Karen
-
I can't see where you think that you have a problem. 20 lbs in 4 months is amazing! Sometimes a tweek is all you need, but sometimes that is too much. Good luck. Karen

Yahoo! For your scale-NSV!!!!
-
You are still on liquids; it is pretty normal. You will probably plateau for awhile, or lose slower once you start eating. Once you start excersing again, your clothes might get looser before you show scale loss! Good luck, Karen...We call that NSV, non-scale victories.

Overfilled? Or Is This Normal The First Few Days?
kll724 replied to changemynametoskinny's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think that you probably are a little too tight! I agree with Jazzy; I will bet that .5 cc will make a big difference! Good luck, Karen
