Second New Band...i Haven't Been This Hungry Since Before My First Band 2 1/2 Years Ago!
kll724 replied to LaDawnS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went on a cruise, shortly after having a slippage repaired. I was able to eat, but also, I was able to control my eating. I would suggest that if you can't control yourself from eating an 8 oz steak, for instance, you need to have a slight fill before your cruise. Just because the food is there, doesn't mean you have to eat your way through the cruise. They have lots of activities that you could enjoy, instead! Good luck to you and your new band. -
My biggest problem is finding room in an overflowing walkin closet!! Using my husband's side, now for summer clothes. I have a husband who loves to take me shopping and help me find my 8's. He loves a sale, and never liked my taste in clothes. I do have to remind him that I am 63 years old, and can't wear my dresses 3 inches above my knees for church.

Day One Of Pre-Ob And I Feel Faint , Tired And Weak.....

It is tough, but you can get through it, most of us did, and we are surviving! Good luck. Karen -
Congrats on your new buddle of joy! She is a cutie for sure! Now, depending on where you live, buddle her up, put her in a carriage and take her for a walk. It will give her fresh air and you exercise! You can get back on track, but by cutting your plate size and, also, using a small fork to eat with. I did that when I was on my 6 month required diet before insurance covered surgery. Good luck, and once again, congrats on your baby! Karen

Getting You Head Around Smaller Sizes!
kll724 replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What a great NSV!! I love going into the dept store and grabbing something I like, and NOT trying it on. But, getting home and having it fit perfectly! Great thread and motivator. Karen -
You can have some clear broth, too! I liked beef bouliion. Best wishes on your new life! Karen

Dear Kalipso2, You are not alone! Feel free to express yourself as so many folks here have fears of becoming bulimic too! I had a slippage and my family was sure that I was becoming bulimic, but I just could not keep anything down! Since getting my band readjusted, I have had few occasions of purging my food. They say that Sharon Osborne had her lapband removed because she was either feeling like, or becoming, bulimic! I think that a therapist would be helpful, but maybe visiting with us here will help you, too! Good luck. Karen

I am at goal, and in maintenance. I, also, visited my surgeon this week, I had gained a lb. he did not give me a fill, as I know what I need to do. Snacks have been my nemisis, again. I was banded on Oct. 30, 2009. I met goal around a year later, can't remember when! Karen

NO! You need to stay on liquids as long as your surgeon says. But, that doesn't mean only water. Drink some tea, clear juice, sugar free popsicles, Crystal light lemonaide is good, drink bullion, (I liked the beef). You can do it, just set your mind to it. Try some Special K protien water, too! Good luck, Karen

You know, B-52, you talk straight. I was just reading a little on other people's comments, and they are moaning that they don't like skinny people. I always wanted to be "skinny". Not so much that I wore size "0", but enough that I could shop in regular stores, and as you said, look good in a swim suit. Now, I have a lot of wrinkles, where the truly skinny folks, who never had to loose weight, don't. But, I wear a size 8-10 suit, and it fits me fine! I am proud of my weight loss and don't feel that I am missing anything! Thanks for letting me say my piece! Karen

I had to have surgery in Nov to correct a problem, and I noticed that I had a bruise, too. But, they go away pretty quickly. You should be okay. My suregon said that he brusies easily, too!

My surgeon is conservative; he never thought that I should reach too low. He set 150 as my goal; I wanted 140. I am in maintenace now, as I was banded Oct 2009. I agree, make mini goals, otherwise it looks like you wiill never attain your goal. Slow and steady, you can do it. It might take you longer, but make a committment to YOU, and you will attain your ulimate goal. Sometimes, the BMI chart is unrealistic, and reaching the "normal" is not possible for you. But, keep your momentum and you will reach what is right for you. Goodluck, Karen

Mine is on the left side. But, I only have found a problem when I used to lift and had not learned to left with myy arms, and legs. don't use your stomach or chest to hold anything, it hurt my port area, bad! Karen

I can't eat steak! But, if I have chicken, I try to either stay away from breasts or eat it with a sauce of some sort! Chicken breasts tend to be real dry and hard for a lapbander to digest! Hope that helps! Karen

I would call surgeon's office. Nothing to mess with with weekend here! Good luck, Karen -
Welcome! That is a lot for a first fill, but if you are okay, your surgeon is the one who is the best adviser. Goodlcuk on your journey! Karen

As weight come soff, and you get closer to normal BMI, it doesn't drop as quickly! I go some months not loosing any, and then this month I gained a pound. I am on maintenance and it is hard to stay "normal" than to loose for me! Take care and don't eb negative! You can do it, so many others have. I started this at 42 BMI, and was 60 years old! I am normal BMI and 63, hang in there! Karen
