kll724 replied to goodkel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think so, but I have all the Allergen info and they recommend you read it before you decide to have the surgery. Karen -

First Fill Three Weeks Post Op- Too Early?
kll724 replied to hunnybee11's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If your surgeon does that, it must be okay! I think a lot of folks would ahve loved to get their 1st fill at 3weeks; it sure would take care of "bandster hell"! Good luck, but tak eit easy on your fills. Karen -
Congrats on your 1 year bandiversary! My surgeon just did what he had done every month. Nothing different, and since you are not at goal, I am guessing the same thing for you! Good luck, Karen

Question - Body Image
kll724 replied to mauraclegg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Next time you have image problems, check out Jennifer Lopez! She has a lot of bootie and she is not a small woman. I'll bet she squeezes herself into a 2 or 4 and she needs a 6 or 8. You are doing great and body image books will help. But, when you are in a store like Target or Walmart that has a camera at the entrance, look up. You probably won't recognize yourself! You will wonder who that thin and fit lady is. That should help your self image!! Karen -

Eating My Food Routine After 11 Mos Of Being Banded
kll724 replied to Wheeler5051's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon tells us that we should never take more than 45 mins to eat a meal. If we are, then we are aeting too much. Sorry for to contradict others. He told my daughter that that was part of the reason she was loosing so slowly. Good luck, Karen -
Does Anyone Know If Lap Band Surgery Is Tax Deductable?
kll724 replied to Wonderwoman1993's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It could be deducted on Schedule "A". But you would have to have enough other deductions for medical to make a difference! Good luck! I haven't had medical deductions in 35 years, since I was paying for my daughters medications at $25,000 out of pocket! My son doesn't own his home, so even though h had a lot of deducitons for medical and donations, he didn't haev enough to not take standard deduction. Karen( I am not a tax expert, however!!!) -
I usually have a fruit smoothy with protein, too! I am in my 1 1/2 of maintianance and its doing oaky. I, sometimes, add fiber to it to make sure that I have enough fiber in my diet(bathroom problems at times!). I think homemade smoothies are probably better, as you can add fruits and stuff to it. Some people like the green shakes, but I can't get myself to have one! They are made by adding spinach, collard, or other greens to your smoothy. Just watch your ounces when making them! Karen

Lap Band Yesterday, Nausea Today
kll724 replied to mere0023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had previosu surgeries that have made me nauseated afterwards. I let them know at the hospital. So, this time, no nausea. what to do now? Ask your surgeon for anti-nausea meds, I think! -

Severe Gas Pain - Two Years Post Op
kll724 replied to ccsweetss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You do need to have this checked out. It could, also, be gall bladder attack. I had mine out several years before lapband surgery. But, I have read several people who after loosing a lot of weight had gall bladder attacks. Mine did feel like I was being stabbed with a hot knife in my chest and through to my back. Good luck! Not Really Understanding This Board.
kll724 replied to ducker2010's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I agree that folks get mixed mesages on here. I would never tell anyone NOT to follow their own surgeon's orders. A lot of surgeon's have very different schedules than other ones. Mine, for instance, is conservative and wants me to have 2 days clear liquids, and 2 days full liquids after a fill. Most folks thinks thats crap! My surgeon has had the surgery, and so has most of his staff. I trust him, and I have with my life! If folks don't trust their surgeons that is scary, to me, as they have their life in the sugreon's hands. But, as B-52 says, we did not get here because we are good at following rules and making good choices. I wish everyone the best and ask them to check with their own surgeon's office before just following someone on here, willnilly! Good luck to all, Karen -
How Long Does It Typically Take To Get Used To Restriction?
kll724 replied to LittleGirlBlue's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Not trying to be negative! But this is sort of the reason that I think the 6 month of monitored pre-dieting gets you into the mode of eating smaller portions. I had gone to the nutritionist in that 1st month and she advised smaller plates(salad or desert). Even smaller forks, helps. I never use any fork larger than a salad fork at home. I am lucky to be over 55 and restuarants have that menu with samller portions. I went to "Perkins" and their 55+ breakfast menu is great for people with a band. Also, remember that when eating red meat, your portion should be no larger than the palm of your hand, or a deck of cards! Good luck, you can do it! Just remember that you don't have to be a member of the "clean plate" club, anymore! Karen -
Good for you Zephorah, you are on the loosing track again. You took the biggest step of going back to the surgeon for help! Now, that your life is back in order, getting back to your winning ways will work for you, too! Best wishes, Karen

Woohoo! NSV's are the best weight loss success, even better than scales. Congrats! Karen
