Welcome! And good recovery wishes to you. Karen -
I actually lost about 30 lbs. My surgeon's offcie had me on phen, I took 1/2 pill for 6 months. I had no problem getting approved, as I had high blood pressure and other problems. I, also, had much history of dieting when I when to the nutrionist which was included in my report. Good luck, Karen

Is It Really Bad To Eat Right After A Fill?
kll724 replied to juicylicious's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It all depends what your surgeon's recommendation are. Mine says clear liquids 48 hr, full liquids 48 hours, then go back to regular meals. I, after 2 years, sometimes, will cheat by day 3. Best of luck, I would say just don't overdo. Karen -

Elcee is right! Take it easy. You are still healing. Don't be tempted by what you should not eat. Good luck.Karen PS: My daughter's friend(who also had the surgery) was so tempted by McD's that she woudl lick th eburger paper after unwrapping the sandwiches for her kids!!!! -
6 Month Supervised Diet - Frustrated And Annoyed!
kll724 replied to Scooterbug's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's pretty weird. My son, who was at 40 bmi when he started, was told to be careful not to loose too much weight, else his insurance wouldn't cover him. Lapband surgeon was happy when he only lost 1-2 lbs a month. Different offices are different. Try to follow your surgeon's office rules. Good luck. Karen -
Congrats Califdreamer! You are doing great. Age is a number, and we are all stil young! My father passed away at 96. if I make it there, I have at lest 33 more years to live. I want to look my best. You all might laugh, but I used to worry that if something happened, the EMTs would not be able to lift me to get me on the gurney. I am glad that I am now a normal weight!!!Great going an best wishes to all. Karen

Are ER And Other Specialists Prepared To Handle Lapband Emergencies?
kll724 replied to NoMoBand's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
By the way, not to hijack the thread, I made that trip 2 years ago in May. It was beautiful! We took 3 days to drive to Arizona from Lakeland, Fl.(central fl). You should be okay, just take care. Karen -
Are ER And Other Specialists Prepared To Handle Lapband Emergencies?
kll724 replied to NoMoBand's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I personally will never go to the local hospital here as that is not the one my surgeon has the authorization to work out of. Unless, I am dying, I will make my husbad drive the 1 hour to the hospital that he covers. I have heard him tell other patients to get themselves to another hospital. Usaually, emrgencies do not come on that quickly with our lapbands. I am not saying that our friend who passed did anything wrong waiting but I have had an emergency that came on slowly and I ignored, Luckily, the surgeon was able to take care of my problem without complications. Karen -
YES!! Also, better looking people are treated differently. They have done a lot of studies to prove this. And, if you look around in the business world, you will notice there are not a lot of short, heavy people in the forefront. We are considered the worker bees to be in the background and do the heavy work. I am glad to have come out of the background after loosing 100 lbs. Part of the reason I started this journey was because I didn't want to be known as the "fat Lady" at church. I was anonymous and a lot of people don't recognize that I was the "lady". Karen

Awesome NSV! Way to lose! Karen

I vote "no", too! I think that it would be too strenous on you. You will still be in recovery mode. A lot of people fly from Mexico to their homes a few days after surgery. But, you will be driving, alone, with kids. Hmmmm! Think about it! Karen

Listen to Cazzy, she lost 237 lbs. She has done, if she can do it, you can too! You are the only one that can make a decision to loose your weight. Best wishes, and stay around, this site is very helpful! Karen

How Soon Can I Go To The Gym?
kll724 replied to scalico's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was walking all the time. But, couldn't do any weight lifting or bending type exercise for 6 weeks. You can probably work on the bikes, but not overdo as most people want to. Take things slowly,as you are healing. Call your surgoen's ofc for best advise!!!Karen -
Thumbs up to attitude change. Best wishes for your future endevours. Karen

Congrats, hope to hear that you are still doing great! Karen

So Happy To Find This Group
kll724 replied to tiffanie1984's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome, Tiffanie! You ar so right, I depend on this group for support. My center has its meetings at night, 1 hour away from me. I have never made the trip. I have 2 adult children who have lapbands, too. I have thier support and my husbands. I can call on surgeon's ofc whenever I need them. Good luck, and stay in touch. Karen -
Yes, that is a wise lesson to learn. My own journey has been one of sometimes eating 1 last bite, and then being real uncomfortable, or gagging. I am in the green zone, mostly. But I still have times of overeating or not eating the right stuff. I have had my lapbnd for 2 1/2 years, you would think I would hav elearned by now! Good lcuk to everyone just joining this adventure. Karen

Losing My Hair....could It Be Related To The Lapband?
kll724 replied to Mefyrst's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did not have hair loss from lapband. I have read on here that several people have. My own daughter did have the problem. I think that it is related to rapid weightloss. You could search under hair loss on the search, I am sure that you will get a list. But, sounds liek you are on the right track. Good luck, Karen -
Glad to hear, keep us informed of your health. Goodluck. Karen

Yeah for eating very little and caring very little about food. We all need to learn to eat to live, not live to eat! Karen
