Has My Band Slipped??
kll724 replied to clarygrundy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does sound like you are too tight! A slight unfill, with surgeon using barium and floroscope, will be best. good luck. Surgeon will, also, be able to tell if you have a slip in the same way. Best wishes, Karen -
Help With "stuck Incidents"
kll724 replied to lassie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a 1/2 Cesar chicken salad from Wendy's for dinner last night. I had no problem with the chicken in it. You really have to have something to dip chicken breast into. But, I tend to eat the "dark"meat of chicken, such as thighs. they are moist and don't really need anything to dip into. By the way, even 1/2 salad was too much for me, last night. I ate some of the greens and all the chicken breast. My best friend, however, is tilapia fish. Yumm, yumm!! Karen -
Thank you Bjc1227, I walk about 2-3 miles in the am depending on the weather. I have found, now, in Central Florida, if I am not thru with my walk by 9:15, it is just too hot. I have a treadmill, but find it difficult to stay on it for more than 30 mins at a time. But, the doctors say at least 10 mins 3x a day is good for seniors like us! Any little bit helps! Karen

Help!!! Should I Change My First Fill Date??? Help!!!
kll724 replied to ktsped's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think you should be okay. My surgeon wants me to be on clear liquids for 2 days after, and then 2 days of full liquids. In that case, I would make sure I have plenty of liquids available to me! Karen -
Has The Band Actually Worked For You?
kll724 replied to OldMomOf3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I was banded Oct. 30, 2009, so 2 1/2 years. I wanted to lose until I was not overweight, about 100 lbs I lost 100 lbs I am happy at 10/elated!!! Thanks for the questions. Karen -
Everyone is so right, even .1 cc can make a difference. I requested a slight fill when I went to my surgeon in April. He gave me barium and x-ray, and it wouldn't go down without the help of water. He told me any more would clog me up. He was actually ready to remove .5cc, but I talked him out of it. Have a little removed, it will make a great deal of difference. By the way, I only have 5cc and anytime I have tried to go above that it has had to be removed. Best of luck. Karen

Very interesting "assistance"! My husband always asks about "roto-rooter". By the way, I tried coke as a roto-rooter the other day, it works wonders! When my son was in Spain, he met a nurse from New Zealand who said this was what they used for blockage. Best wishes, Karen

Pre-Op Full Liquid Day 4
kll724 replied to Tricia39's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, how are you ladies doing? Updates, please. Karen -
I was 61 1/2 when got my band. It will be 3 years this Oct. I lost 100 lbs and could not be happier! I don't take blood pressure meds, I don't have arthritis bothering my right knee any more so I can walk everyday for at least 40 mins. I feel better than I did for many years. WW is great, but I, like you, gained all losses back and never met goal. You can meet goal with lapband!!Good move for us seniors! (my surgeon, has had his lapband for 7 years), he is a senior too, and very proud of me. Karen

Hi Newbies! Welcome to lapband "Heaven"! How quickly you loose does depend on how much effort you put in. But, I have determined by reading this site, that it,also, depends on how much you have to loose. If you have a lot to loose, then it seems to come off quicker. But as you get closer to goal, or if you have less to loose, then it take longer. I hoe that that makes sense! Anyway, you should be able to loose 1-2 lbs a week when you 1st start. Than later maybe only 5 a month. Suddenly, it will drop to nothing, you will hit a plateau, but if you cut your calories, or increase your exercise, your weight loss will pick back up. Best wishes to you all. Karen

I agree with Cindy C, you probably have a 10cc band. Karen

My Band And I Need Some Couples Therapy
kll724 replied to holly82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
See your surgeon and have a x-ray doen under barium, It sounds like maybe you have a slip or something. best wishes.Karen -
I had to have a revision due to a slip. The surgeon thought maybe removal and new band, but was able to reposition the current band. This was the 2nd slip I had and it was bad. So, if you or anyone else gets aslip, try and unfill 1st. Gerd and night reflux are certain signs of slips. Karen

Hi, I had to have revisoion surgery in Oct 2011. I am on Medicare so most of the bill was covered, but I kept getting notices from the hospital for $1132 unpaid. I have supplemetnal insurance, Aetna, which should have covered it. So, I call Aetna, and the hospital never put in the correct codes. After several months and phone calls, I just received notice that the whole bill is paid! Hurray for Aetna and persistance! Karen

Oh so much of what I felt was written here. My drivers license still has the old picture. But my Visa card has the new picture. It was easier to change the Visa card and passport than to go to the DMV!! I was years not able to see my collar bones and to not wear nice necklaces unless they had an extender. The 1st time I saw myself in the overhead mirror at Target, I did not recogize ME!!!Most people that I know don't remember me as the fat lady at church! But, that was who I was and didn't want people to only know me that way, anyway!!!Best wishes to us all! Karen
