kll724 replied to ready4animprovedme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! you are pretty, you will be a knock out after loosing wieght. Best wishes to you,and keep in touch to let us know how you are doing! Karen -
I had surgery on Friday, and went to church on Sunday. I can't really remember how long before I was okay. But, since I had surgery on my stomach area, I did not drive for about 2 weeks. I am not sure that is necessary, but chose to do that. Best wishes, Karen

Since you just had the fill, you may still be swollen. My surgeon says 2 days clear liquids and 2 days full liquids. Sip water and clear liquids, try warm water or unrefridgerated to make it go down better. Cold liqids sometimes are slow to go down because they shock us. Stress will casue tightness, too. Take cae, if you still have problems today or tomorrow, cal for a slight unfill. Best wishes, Karen

According to my surgeon, you should never get the "full" feeling! You should get satisfied. We all need to learn to eat to live, not live to eat! Believe me, it is all a learning experience; after almost 3 years, I am still learing, or unlearing as the case may be. ANyway, you will tell teh full feeling most people wil belch a little or get a hiccup. If you eat more, you wil become uncomfortable with a tightness. Best wishes, and good luck with you rnew life! Karen

Yeah! for NSV's! I remember the 1st time, well!

I agree with NWgirl, you should get authorization from your surgeon for any working out. I was restricted for 2 weeks to only walking, then not lifting anything more than 10 lbs. I was not allowed to do situps, crunches, etc for 6 weeks. Best of luck, Karen

Congrats on a great NSV!!!You so deserve it an dI am glad you bought it!!Karen

To Stay Or Not To Stay.....
kll724 replied to OldMomOf3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like Regnu, my insurance required an overnigth stay. I am not sure that I needed it, for comfort, but for my peace I did. I was not bothered by well-meaning family and friends, and was able to rest before making the hour ride home. If you have children or no one to assist you, stay overnight. Best wishes. Karen -
Doctor Forgot To Give Me The Spirometer After Surgery!!
kll724 replied to tere1985's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to cough and to walk. I had no problems even tho' I have chronic bronchiatis. Best wishes,Karen -
That is a lot of fill for your 1st time. I guess your surgeon is pretty agressive. Just listen to your body, if you are having trouble eating or keeping food down see your surgeon for a slight unfill. I have 5 cc in a 10 cc band and am 2 1/2 years out. That is all my badn and body can stand. Best wishes.Karen

Ate What I Was'nt Supose To.
kll724 replied to jl78148's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can understand, and know the pain. I was once to an event at my church. They had roast beef and little buns to put it on. This was maybe 3-4 months after banding, well, it was not pretty!!I eat very little beef, to this day! But, I love fish, and have gone to Burger King and ordered a fish without the bun, It was yummy!! My so has both celiac and lapband, so all his burgers are without buns, they do a nice job of wrapping the burgers in lettuce, or putting it on a bed of lettuce to be eaten with a fork. Next time, try that! Best wishes. Karen -
Great going, both for the NSV and for getting back into raquet ball. Guess you knees are better since your weight loss.

Stuck - Yay That Means I Still Have A Band
kll724 replied to elcee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I totally feel you, I had a slip in October, and had a revision done. Even tho' my surgeon says I have restriction, I feel like I don't and want to eat everything, too! But, he told me that if he fills it any further, nothing will pass through. I am currently at 5cc. And, I have gained some weight, but now, I have to help myself, and control my own appetite! Best wishes, Elcee! Karen -

Stomach Ache, Dry Heaving
kll724 replied to Journey2Healthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, do see your doctor. But, it sounds a little like your body is adjusting to a new way of eating. Are you still on liquids or protein shakes? This will, also, cause a problem for some people. Best wishes, Karen -
Is It Safe To Ride On A Roller Coaster With The Lapband?
kll724 replied to Yolanda Swing-banks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This should not be a problem unless you are only weeks from your surgery. I, also, have ridden several times. My son, who was too big for Harry Potter ride 2 years ago, was quite excited to ride and enjoy it this year. Have fun, Karen -
I had 2 pb occasions before my 1st fill, so, I would say yes! Karen

Port Pain Normal Vs. Abnormal
kll724 replied to pbmls223's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dear Newbies, slight pain is normal. Excessive pain is not! But, pain from rolling, bending, lifting, etc, is to be expected; they did surgery on your stomach area and you are swollen, too! Take is easy on yourself, this is healing time. Good luck, Karen -
6 Months As Of Today!
kll724 replied to legnarevocrednu's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats!! You are doing great! Karen -
Yes, a good blender is my life saver,. I have, actually, worn out 2 in the 3 years since I started my journey! A food scale and food processor are helpful, too! I use salad or dessert plates for all my meals, even Thanksgiving and Christmas. I use the small Salad forks, too. If you can get your hands on the small baby spoons and forks that is beneficial, as it will help you get used to the small bites we need. Best wishes to you and all the folks staring out, Karen
