Had First Fill July 17 Get A Little Short Of Breath When I Drink Or Eat, Anyone Else Experience This?
kll724 replied to hopingtobebandedsoon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, 1st of all, my surgeon requires 2 days clear liquids and 2 days full liquids after a fill. Sometimes, if you eat or drink too much or fast, you might have that reaction, slow down, Okay! Best wishes, Karen -
Normally, I walk outside, as I also, find walking on the treadmill boring! I have been doing laps in an Olympic size pool, lately. Wow, you really realize how out of shape your arms and legs are after a work out in the pool. I have been concentrating on proper stroke. I like the crawl, but also, back stroke. I only swim for about 45 mins 2 x a week as I take my Grands for swim class and like to be dressed and ready for them when their 1 hr class is done.anyway, thought I would share. It is real helpful to build up leg muscles and help with those batwings!!!Karen

Congratulations on your bandiversary. Happy day to you! You do look great. Karen

I struggle with maintenance, so am not the one to be giving you advice. You do look good, but if you feel like you want to quit losing, then probably loosen the band, a little. My band is pretty loose, I have 5 cc in a 10 cc band. But, I can't tolerate any tighter band. If, you can eat pretty normally, you should be okay, but if not, try to loosen it a bit. Best wishes, B-52. Karen

What Are The Secrets Of A Fill
kll724 replied to Bellagirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon directs the water drinking. He hands it to me, and tells me to drink it all, and when to swallow. If, iI feel it in my throat, then it is probably too much. Let the Doc, direct the drink. Good luck, Karen -
Hi, see your surgeon, run the questions by him/her. I am in the sweet spot, too! But, I have gained during maintenance due to my own fault. My surgeon, even tho' he is supportive, will not fill me further because I can't tolerate any more fill than 5cc. If he puts in even 5.5 the barium will not pass through. So, I am watching my calorie count and doing what any good dieter would do to take off the lbs I gained while not doing what I should do!!!But, anyway, if you are in your sweet spot, and near goal, I think to hang in there and decrease your calories (if you are at normal count like 1200-1400). I need to eat under 1200 to lose and 1400 to stay the same. Best wishes, I hope that helps. Karen

Take it easy!!!You just had major surgery. But, walk as much as possible, it will relieve your gas. Take Gas-x if needed and pain meds as needed. But I assure you, it is entirely normal. You are not expected to drink a whole ounce at one time, sipping is what you should be doing. I have had my band for almost 3 years, and there are many times I can't drink a whole ounce at one time! But walk, walk, walk, and sip, sip, sip!!!Best wishes, and welcome to Banderland!!Karen

Restriction: Full Vs. Satisfied
kll724 replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You are so right! I am a real believer in the 6 month pre-surgery diet. It taught both me and my son how to eat before we had our surgery. We have both been successful both on the pre-surgery diet and afterwards. But, my surgeon has told us no bread, little pasta and rice. Most rice is a no-no because it does get stuck. I can eat, and do at times, hard bread, such as bread sticks when we go out to dinner. Never, eat soft breads or muffins, etc. They will cause you to get stuck! Best wishes folks! Karen -
What Are Your Signs Of Feeling Full

What's So Bad About Cheating On The Post-Op Diet?
kll724 replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Great article! You said what needs to be said. I have tried to tell others that they need to follow their surgeon's instructions not someone else's. I hope that everyone who needs this, me included, will head your advice and "stay the course". As you said, if we were good dietiers, we would not be obese and in need of bariatric surgery! Thanks. Life Since I Was Banded :/
kll724 replied to nikkianico81287's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
best wishes. See if your sugeon's office has a group that you can attend. You sound like you could really need a mentor or shoulder to cry on. I was lucky, as I had a very understanding family and surgeon's office. Loneliness and pain don't make for good healing a process. sending you hugs, (((()))) Karen -
Congrats and good job losing your weight! Keep up the good work! Karen
-
Eww, not an option I will try. I will stick with my lapband, thanks anyway! Karen

Always listen to your own nutritionist and surgeon. They know you and your body. Others haev different body and different guidelines per their staff of people. Good luck, I know that my surgeon wants me to stay under 1200 calories to lose anymore because I am in maintenance. But, normally 1200-1400 should be enough to lose weight. I don't count but know if and when I go above my proper number. I have been banded for almost 3 years. Good wishes to you, Karen

Just Can't Get My Energy Back From Surgery
kll724 replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Newbies! You are still in the healing stage. If you have not had your 1st followup, I would suggest that the only exercise you try is walking. Anything else could hurt you! Take care, it is hot and you will slow down. (unless you are in Austrailia where it is winter). Try not to rush it. Good luck, and take care as I said. Karen -
Band Slipped. Decided To Have It Fixed
kll724 replied to debbied888's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a slip fixed in October 2011. The surgeon 1st had to remove the fill to see if it would go back into shape. It would not, so I went into the hospital and had it repositioned. He thought, for awhile, that he would have to replace it, but it went back into shape. I do not regret having the surgery to repair it. Best wishes for a great recovery. Karen -
Sore Throat, Not Feeling Well, Kinda Sick To My Stomach...
kll724 replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You do not want to really throw up, yes, it can mess with your band. Liquid medicines are best, and thankfuly, most meds can be bought in liquid form. Hopefully, this will pass without stomach problems; fingers x'd for4 you! Take it easy!! its a holdiay, so you don't need to g out, unless you feel better. Karen -
i took a 30 hour road trip. It was hard on me, and I tried to stay away from most foods. As stated by Jean, I drank alot of proetin drinks and water, Take care and enjoy your vacation. Karn
